Hi Everyone-

Well, our anniversary trip is getting closer, and I have more questions.
Has anyone seen the Cirque show on Randall's Island? I've made the leap and ordered the tickets, and am trying to get an idea of how the ferry transportation works. We're planning on catching the ferry from e 34th street, and don't exactly know where we're going!!
Of course the spanner in the works is that we're going to a Saturday matinee (Mamma Mia!) at 2, and have tickets for Cirque at 8. If we get out of the show by 4:45 - 5 p.m. , would we be able to make the 6:30 p.m. ferry? How late does the ferry run?

Help!!!!

I found info for both Cirque

Cirque Info

and the Ferry Service

NY Waterway

You might want to e-mail the Ferry service for more explicit information. You will need to get from the West Side where you see Mamma Mia all the way to the East Side (literally into the river) to get the ferry. A cab will probably be the easiest way to do this and end up exactly where you want to be. Sounds like you are going to have a very busy day! I'd plan on a big lunch and/or late dinner since I don't think you'll have a lot of time in-between for eating.

It's funny that there is no return schedule posted for the ferry. Maybe they just keep loading boats after the show? This is listed as a special service.

Just found this press release from NY Waterways that gives a little more info

NY WATERWAY FERRIES SERVE ALL CIRQUE du SOLEIL VAREKAI SHOWS AT RANDALL’S ISLAND PARK

The world-famous Cirque du Soleil is bringing Varekai, its newest production, to Randall’s Island Park and, once again, NY Waterway is providing the transportation. Via its extensive East River Service, NY Waterway offers a breathtaking ferry ride to Randall’s Island Park from Pier 11, East 34th Street and East 90th Street beginning on Thursday, April 24th.

High-speed NY Waterway ferries will whisk customers to Randall’s Island Park in less than one-half hour from Pier 11. Passengers can enjoy the exhilarating ride from the ferry’s open-air decks, or relax in comfort in the climate-controlled cabin. Once passengers arrive at Randall’s Island Park, it’s just a scenic, 10-minute stroll to the Cirque du Soleil ticket window.

Service begins approximately two hours before the start of each show and return service continues for one hour after the close of each show. Varekai, which means "wherever" in the Romany language of the gypsies will be performed on Tuesday and Wednesdays at 8 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Round-trip fare is $10 and free for children under the age of three. A $133 package is available that includes round-trip ferry transportation, a category 2 ticket for the show and a $15 voucher for merchandise at the Cirque du Soleil gift shop.
In order to guarantee a seat, reservations must be made in advance. Tickets can be purchased on-line or by calling 1-800-53-ferry. For information about Varekai visit www.cirquedusoleil.com

I found another article that says Cirque runs 2 1/2 hours.

Thanks so much!!

I'd found the ferry site, but without a return schedule from the show- I was getting concerned.....

I knew that I could count on my DIS friends to help me out!!:p

Great info, thanks! We're heading to NYC in early September for our 15th and was wondering if anybody has any information on the ticket booth in Times Square where you can get last minute tickets the morning of a show.

dtuleya: We usually use the TKS booth when we go to NYC. We reserve one show full price and then see what we can get at the booth. You never know what shows will be there (usually not new or popular shows) and your seating options are a bit limited. But for the price, we'll take anything. I'm pretty sure it's cash only, too. If you are going on the weekend, the matinee shows are sold in the morning and then they release the evening shows in the afternoon. I'm sure someone on these boards will be able to give you more information, but there's a start.
