Holy Cow!!!!!! I didn't realize they were so expensive! :scared1:

We're going there to see the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular and was going to stay on Friday and Saturday night. How difficult would it be to stay in Jersey (or somewhere else close)? Its amazing how the rates drop just a few miles away from Midtown. Is the convenience of being right there worth the extra $$$$?

Well, it depends on whether or not you have a car. If you don't then yes it is. It is an easy city to walk and there's lots of public transportation. On the other hand, even if you do have a car parking is sometimes difficult and/or expensive. Check around for hotel discounts--usually there are some bargains to be found.

Enjoy the show--it is spectacular!:thumbsup2

Personally I think it is worth the money. Because if you drive in, you lose whatever you save in parking and tolls. And if you take public transportation, it can be a pain. Unless you are staying by the PATH train or another train, I would just stay in the city.

I agree that it's worth the money to stay in the city. Maybe try Hotwire or Priceline? Check out tripadvisor for some good advice. Enjoy the show!!

I used expedia. Hotwire doesn't give you the actual hotel name. :(

I agree, staying there is probably the best option though. I'm sure we will find something soon.

There's a site that helps you figure out which hotel you're getting based on the location and amenities. I think it's better bidding or something like that. I used it twice for Philly and it was right on. I know there's a ton more hotels in NYC but if you pick the location and star rating you probably can't go wrong. Good luck. Also, keep in mind that the hotel rooms in NYC are small so ou know what to expect. Two hotels I've stayed in are The Hilton Times Square which is a great location, right in the heart of all the tourist traps, lol.. and also the Radisson martinique which is also a good location-right near Penn Station and around the corner from the Empire State Buliding. Oh also, if you're going to do some touristy thing(and you should:thumbsup2 ) check out the Explorer Pass. It'll save you money. Have a great time!

The Hyatt New Jersey hotel has a path train right outside which gets you to Manhattan in no time. Haven't stayed there but read about it on trip advisor.

There are also Orbit and tavel zoo that might be good to check out for hotels.

What dates are you going?
