DH and I are planning a last-minute getaway to NYC next weekend. We have been a few times and have visited the "usual" 5th Ave, Times Square, Broadway, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, etc etc. We are looking for a few new activities, perhaps see a show, take a cruise etc.

Any ideas for a nice weekend without the kiddo? We are not history buffs and prefer outdoor activities.

Tks!

I Highly recommend seeing a broadway show or
more than one!! There are some absolutely
great shows right now, my personal favorites
are Jersey Boys and Mama Mia. The Disney
shows fabulous also..Lion King and Little
Mermaid and though I haven't seen it I
hear Mary Poppins is a must see. Have fun
in the big apple...will you be there on a week-
day? We sat in on Live with Regis and Kelly
in April and really enjoyed it. Also the NBC
tour is interesting.

thank you for the reply. Unfortunately we're staying on a weekend, I would have loved to see Regis (although DH would not!)

My dh didn't mind regis and kelly. There were lots
of guys in the audience. The cruises are probably
fun though we have never tried it, but honestly
broadway shows are wonderful especially the musicals.
Have always LOVED theater! I hope you have a fun trip.
Where are you staying? We stayed at the Millenium UN
in april for our anniversary.

My mom and I just saw The Little Mermaid on Broadway, and we both said it was the best Broadway show we've seen! It was fantastic, so I highly recommend that.

Also, there is Madame Tussuad's wax museum. VERY fun place. you can see almost identical wax replica's of celebrities.

For some outdoor things...
-take a walk around Central Park
-go to the Central Park zoo
-take a ferry ride over to the Statue of Liberty

and just sightsee around the city.. rockefeller plaza, empire state building, stuff like that.

I like the Circle Line tour...Takes you all around Manhattan. Down near where you board the Circle Line tour is the Intrepid, which is interesting, especially if anyone is a military fan. Madame Tussaud's is fun too. If I were going to do a show, I'd do Mamma Mia.

You may also enjoy South St. Seaport. The BODIES exhibition is there as well as some stores and restaurants. There is also a water taxi there (inexpensive) to do a little cruise around.

For shows, my favorite at the moment is WICKED. You will not be disappointed. It's truly fabulous! Billy Elliot is a hot ticket right now and has had excellent reviews (just won the TONY for best musical) but you may pay a premium for the tickets.

Agree, Wicked is an awesome show! I am happy I got tickets
to see Billy Eliott before the tony win as I suspect it won't
be easy to get seats now. I ordered seats for fathers day
only two wks ago and was able to get 4th row seats! Can't Wait!!!!!:cool1:

Tell me a little more about you guys, by outdoor, do you mean more "wide open spaces" or "running marathons" or more "architecture under the skies"? What kind of food do you like? Any particular kind of music or dance or art that you prefer?
