Has anyone been to the new Disney store in NYC. I'm going next week to see Beauty & the Beast with my daughteres and I'm just as excited to check out the new store. will I be disappointed?

I went with my daughter, and she LOVED it (lilo and stitch were there) but I honestly couldn't figure out why the needed to close the store for months - all they did was switch out the merchandise from TDS to WOD.

She has tickets (her b-day present from her aunt) for the princess thing November 9th. Will be interesting to see if it lives up to Disney standards.

I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. My hubbie called from there while he was lunching today! He said it was really cool. It's set up really nice from what he told me. Have fun! princess:

Thanks, I can't wait to see the NYC Disney things. I better bring my visa card. LOL Thanks everyone who answered.:teeth:

Tinkerbellmom33 - Where are you from on Long Island. I'm from Franklin Square. Maybe we are neighbors.

Just wondering what this is?

Funhouse8, I'm out east, Suffolk County. I'm pretty far down the L.I.E.! :D My husband works in the City, so he checked it out. He told me I would love it. I might go in with him one day for lunch and go there for Xmas shopping. He said it's nothing like the store in our mall. It's huge with really high cielings and massive Disney characters set up in the front. I would love to see it.:D

We just made our reservations for Dec. 5 to the princess court thing. 2 dds will go with me and dh will take ds to see Santa Goofy and Chip and Dale when I go with the girls for their "induction". Can't wait to see it and Christmas shop!

I'm at exit 66. What exit are you?

We are hoping to get to the city before christmas but we don't know when.

Any DIS from NYC, did you get the New York Daily News yesterday(SUNDAY). In the magazine section "25 HOURS" page 34 & 35 there is a gigantic picture of "tourists" and "passerbuys" at the grand opening of the WOD. The picture was taken Oct 5th.
The "tourist" with the camera and pin lanyard is ME. DH is the guy in the blue jacket with "M O U S E" as the caption.
We loved the store, and loved the grand opening ceremony.

It is a Small World After All. :D

DH just called from the WOD store in NYC. He works in the area and he said it is great!! He loved it! I just booked online for the Princess thing for DD!!! For those who don't know about it here is a link:www.worldofdisney.com

My DDS (ages 7 and 5) and I went the first weekend. The store is awesome-- really fun just to walk around. Princess court was fun, but not worth $80, in my opinion (we got in for free with disney visa card). "Cast members" were extremely friendly and nice, in contrast to just about everyone else in the immediate area. (I asked for change for a parking meter at a nearby candy store, and the employee said "where do you think you are, LADY! this is NEW YAWK!" =) I would go again.

That looks cute! I wish they would have something for boys though :(

Tinkerbellmom33- I see from your countdown you are going to Disney in 8 days. Lucky you. That's for the info about the store. We are going tomorrow and I can't wait. I heard they have the potato head pieces but with a nyc theme, have to pick them up for the preschool i work in. I'm so excited and hope you enjoy your trip!

I took the kids the opening weekend. It was crowded because there was a parade on 5th Ave. It did have somethings that were different. so i can understand why they closed it for so long. I was disappointed that so much of the merchandise says Walt Disney World on it. I would rather it say World of Disney NYC or something like that. they had the same sweatshirts there that i got the kids at WDW back in August. If i had known I wouldnt have gotten them in Florida. They have a Mr. Potato head station smaller than in Once Upon a Toy. They dont have the computers like they do at that area in Florida.

I used to love to go the this place when it was a Disney store. They had the stuff that the local Disney stortes had plus more stuff, sometimes stuff i would only see inthe catalog. I would also get some really great sales there. I dont think i will be seeing any sales there anymore. I can stop and check on my way home from work occasinally cause i work uptown at nights and i am ususally getting out around the time that it opens.

I am also awaiting FAO Schwatz reopening after Thanksgiving. That should be cool too!
