NYC CRUISES PLANNING/INFO ThREAD!

My husbands truck is to tall to get into most garages..we need a min 9ft clearance and most garages are only about 8ft.

This will be our first cruise, first trip into NY..so we are flying a bit blind so to speak.

Our kids are still in booster seats...if taking a taxi do we have to lug the seats with us for the entire trip?

Okay, I'm jumping in here. I really want to take my niece this summer on the 8 day out of NYC. This thread is great for ideas, but if my brother does let her go we'll take Amtrak from D.C. I'll have to fly in a day or two early from Chicago.

Thanks to all you loyal Disboarders, I'm so excited and haven't even booked anything, I want to do it all...FE gifts, door decorations, pirate dress-up pirate:....

Car seats are not required in taxis here; however, many parents do not feel comfortable without using them. You can choose to bring yours and strap them in, or there are car services that can bring the proper seats for your children, the taxis do not have them.

I have used Eastern Car Service 1-866-499-7177 with excellent results. You just tell them you need however many type of each seat and they will be strapped into the car, ready to go, when they pick you up. :thumbsup2 (this is the service I will be using again with my 4-year old)

Here are a few pictures from our trip to the EoS from the other night:

Thanks so much for all of those pictures!! Just adds to my excitement for our cruise next year :sunny:

I didn't realize that the Disney $tore was right across the street from the Marriott Marquis. LOL No wonder DCL chose that as one of their participating hotels. Do you happen to have any other pictures taken from that same area??? :3dglasses

New York Hotels are crazy expensive, but I did discover that Raddison has a special on their web site for 30% off weekend rates now for summer.

Never stayed at a NYC Raddison but others I have stayed in have been clean. Dates I am looking for is $202 plus tax for the mid August . Trip advisor ratings are mostly good, clean and the location seems to be main comments, which is what I am looking for.

Raddison Martinique on Broadway on 32nd street, is that a good location if you plan on touring by subway/foot?

This is what we will do: we are driving up from DE and will park at Metropark, NJ and then take NJ Transit into Penn Station and then a taxi to the port. Parking at the Metropark station is $9/day and then it's $16 or $20 r/t for NJ Transit and then about a $12 taxi ride to the port. I find that the easiest for us since neither of us are willing or want to drive into the city, even if it is right over the river.

I have to remember to check this out when we get home. We are doing the five night. Do yo know if parking is 'per day or per night' at either the port or this other Metropark? (Heard from friends on the Dream and one of the lots there was per day not per night, so it was a little more then they had expected).

The Radisson Martinique is my back-up hotel for our DCL cruise next year. I actually have a reservation at the Marriott Marquis AND the Radisson. Our rate for the Radisson (May 24th, 1 night) is $307. plus tax. This is with the 30% off. I think you have an excellent rate there.

I did a lot of research before deciding on the Radisson. We've stayed at several different Radissons and always had a good experience, and with the price difference, and good location, I think this is probably what we'll end up doing.

What about taking AMTRAK directly from Wilmington or Dover to Penn Station, NY?

The location of the Radisson is good. You're right near Herald Sq which is where Macy's is along with a plethora of stores. The Empire State Building is just east on 34th St. Madison Sq Garden & Penn Station are just west on 7th Ave. Times Sq is about 10 blocks north. And you have a major subway station in Herald Sq.

I NEED ONE OF THESE :dance3:!!!! Does anyone know if they seel N-Y-C-K-E-Y stuff online???!

I don't believe they sell any of the NYC Disney stuff online; however, PM me your desires and I'd be more than happy to buy/ship for you. We are there quite often. You can just PayPal me the $$. There are LOTS of shirts (I Mickey Head NY, the ones you see, plus more), mugs, bags, Vinylmations, pins and more.

Oh ya, LOTS! I'll dig up some more Times Square pics and post 'em!

Earl of Sandwich has opened! It's on 52nd between 5th and 6th. I believe they have started serving their holiday sandwich now, too!

Oh - I used to work right there. I have mixed feelings about EOS in NYC (or anywhere else for that matter). That is my special Disney place and I don't know if I want to eat there not at Disney - although it would be very tempting. We are heading down to Disney for Thanksgiving and I can't wait to get their Holiday Sandwich.
