Not a direct Orlando topic but we are stopping over for 3 nights on the way to Orlando this June.

Can anyone recommend a good value central hotel for 3 nights ?

Wayne ???? Fancy taking this one on ? I noticed you were fed up hunting for Easter this year. How about this one ? 3 nights from 22 June. 2 rooms required as there's 5 of us.

I'm also planning on 3 nights in the big apple before orlando for our sep trip, been looking for hotels but there are so many! And have never been to New York before so pretty clueless... so hope there is some expert help out there!!:goodvibes

I'm not too sure of prices but last time I stayed in New York I stayed at the Millenium Hilton which is right on Ground Zero. Absolutely amazing place to stay and not that far from Times Square :thumbsup2

Hi Garry
Will have a look, do you have a budget or seen anything to give me an idea? NYC is not easy to find a bargain.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Times sq, amazing view of Times Sq and the Empire State building but £150/night was a killer, will never pay that for a hotel again.

Removed name from title, against rules to address posts to people, PM system for that;):goodvibes

Sorry to pick you up on that but ground zero is the other end of the island from times sq!
We stayed at the New York Palace, opposite St Patricks cathedral and a block up from the Rockerfellar Center. Was £135 a night but easily the best hotel i've ever stayed in :)

We are doing the same in August. I have been looking at the Westin Times Square as Westin are doing a 3 nights for the price of 2. An excecutive room (with access to lounge with breakfast, nibbles etc) is coming in at just over £500 for the 3 nights for our dates (standard rooms are cheaper).

The Westin also has a Shulas Steakhouse, yum!!

Oh well, didn't seem that far to us, we walked to Times Square quite a few times, or jumped in a 5-10 minute taxi.

Double tree times square sleeps 5 2 double beds and sitting room has a double sleeper sofa its a great hotel too

Sorry didn't see 5 of you, forget that last hotel, its no good for 5.:rotfl:

We started to walk it, Wall st. to Times Sq gave up and got a taxi.
The Millenium Hilton is at 55 Church St, from there to Times Sq is just under 4 miles takes approx 1 hr 15 mins to walk at a brisk speed. We gave up after at 40 mins and stopped a taxi.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Wayne - apologies, probably read about names when I first joined but forgot all about it. As I was thinking that I needed 2 rooms, I'd set my budget at around £75 per room per night - so around £450 in total.

Don't know how realistic this is so willing to stretch if need be.

Just spent another half hour looking, nothing jumping out at me.
a good site I found recently if you want to try find something is www.hotelscombined.com
You can narrow the search, like within 2 miles of Times Sq, searches lots of sites.
Cost of hotels is reason we have never returned, would love to go back again but I won't pay it.

If you cant find anything in your budget there is a place called Secaucus nj they have a place called Meadowlands they have a lot of hotels at a fraction of the NYC cost it takes about 20-25 mins (non rush hour) to get into the Port Authority Bus station around 42nd street it costs around $6 to $7 return here is a website of the hotels http://www.secaucus.org/hotels.html just thought Id give it a mention
