This was our first trip to Walt Disney World

The cast:
Me27-NvrBnToWDW
DH29-Babe
DS11-Sci-fi Guy
DS9-Loudboy

Today is the last day in the parks, we leave early tomorrow. I was determined to see the fireworks behind the castle, we have missed them all week. So I decided that we should get a late start if we're gonna last through the night. The kids are up and ready to swim by 9:30. Babe takes them to the pool while I get the laundry together to wash and start packing. We swim most of the morning and then clean up and have lunch at Pop. We head out to the park around 3:00 and go straight to Tomorrowland. We ride Buzz again and this time Sci-fi beats us. He was so proud. After that we rode Space Mountain again and everyone loved it. It's our favorite ride. We decided to try out Astro Orbiter, it's just like the Dumbo ride, right? WRONG! Well, I got on with Sci-fi and he has extremely long legs, we call him Jiminy Cricket and so I thought he'd fit better in front of me. Well, immediately he told me he didn't want to go up and down. "Fine," I say, "you control it anyway." I got in first and had my camera and hip pack and he gets in front of me and we start going. I snap a picture of Babe and Loudboy in their rocket, then it starts going pretty fast so I put my camera away. Then it tilts and I feel like "Whoa, we're gonna fall out of this thing." Sci-fi must feel that way too, because he completely straightens out his legs and is pushing ALL of his body weight against my chest. I can't breathe! He doesn't realize he has a deathgrip on the thing that makes you go up and we're going higher and higher and the higher we go, the more he pushes against me. "What are you doing!" I can't breathe!" I barely get out. "I don't know!" he yells. "Let go and we"ll go down! Bend your knees, I can't breathe!" He finally does and I'm holding on for dear life, it felt like we were going to fall out the side. This is not a fun ride. I think to myself. Good, it's over. "That was not fun." I say and Sci-fi agrees.
After that, Loudboy has to make a pit-stop, so I wait by the Noodle Station and watch Cinderellabration in front of the castle. Hey, this is a good spot to see the fireworks and make a mental note to myself.
We walk to Fantasyland, we've gotta do It's a Small World again. We get right on with no waiting and there's just something about this ride that makes you smile. This time, I'm sitting next to Babe and he says, "Hey, we're on water?" I start laughing, "Of course, what did you think?" "I thought we were on a track in a car" he says. I just smile at him. We check out Dumbo after that but the wait was 45 minutes and they don't want to wait. So we do some shopping around.
They're getting hungry, so we decide to go to Columbia Harbour House again. That fish was really good. We sit upstairs and it's nice and quiet and cool. When we come down it's packed and there's a family of 16 looking for a place to sit. I say, "Excuse me, there's tables upstairs." They were very grateful, it doesn't seem like anyone knows you can go up there. We walk around and once again Babe is trying to talk the boys into riding Splash Mountain, but they won't give in. We watch the people coming down and then we head on to Big Thunder again. We ride it and Sci-fi likes it a lot better now.
No one is interested in Adventureland and I need to go and check out my pictures from the PhotoPass so we hop on the train to Main Street. We get to the Photo place and there is a huge line. Babe takes the kids outside and I wait. There are some Long Islanders in front of me and the older women start complaining about a young blonde at the counter. Apparently, she looked at her photos already then went to find frames, then wanted to see them again to match a frame with the photo. They were so mad the got ahold of a CM and told her to fix the problem. Poor CM, she had no idea what was going on. I finally get up there and was dissapointed because all of our photos in front of the castle Loudboy had his eyes closed. We were facing the sun. All that waiting for nothing. I catch up with the guys and we check out all the shops on Main Street. We've just been passing by them all this time. I start taking them around, and Babe asks "Where are we going?" "Here it is!" I say as I take them to the Main Street Bakery. Their mouths fell open. We had such a hard time deciding what to get everything looked so good! Babe and Sci-fi each got a cherry turnover and I got a strawberry shortcake. Loudboy go the biggest chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich I've ever seen! Everything was so delicious, I wish we had gone there on other days. After eating, we hung around watching the glass sculpture guy in the window. That was amazing!
It was getting later and people started lining up on Main St. for Spectro Magic. We had already seen it, but really wanted to see the fireworks. We went to the Noodle Station and found a place next to the eating area. For some reason, it stunk like yeast! I expected it to smell like Asian food, but instead it smelled like yeast. I make my own pizza dough, so I know that smell! It was kind of gross. We hung out there and could see part of Spectro. We still needed another 30 minutes to wait til the fireworks, and had been waiting there since 9. All the seats in the dining area were taken, so we stood leaning against a wall. At about 9:45, a CM from the restaurant comes out and says, "You can't block this walking area." No Way! We've been here almost an hour and he tells us now! He then explains we can sit or stand in the dining area, just not against that wall because it blocks traffic. We stand behind a table full of people and wait. Loudboy is getting tired of standing and I say, "Well, don't you want to wait for the fireworks since this is our last night here?" He gives me this look like reality just hit and his eyes well up with tears. What have I done? He starts crying. "What's wrong baby?" "I don't want to leave, I want to stay here" Now reality hits me. This is not our home, we have to re-enter earth and continue our everyday lives. Now I want to cry. Sci-fi looks at Loudboy and now he's holding back tears. Can't we just live here, can't Babe get a job as Goofy or something. Please God, help me, don't let us have postpartum Disney. Finally, the fireworks started and their magic just washed away all the sadness. It was so beautiful! What hurting feet, what cramped legs, what people around us? It was just the 4 of us standing there in a bubble of joy and togetherness. So this is why we've missed these fireworks all week. God, you planned it this way, you wanted to save the best for last. Thank you!
After the last burst of pixiedust in the sky, hand in hand we headed out to our bus. We and about a million other people. Where did all these people come from? This was our first experience closing out a park and now I know why. We finally got out of the park and the fatigue set in. As we're walking past the bus stops, we see this huge line. We walk past it and when we get to the Pop line, it looks like it is that line. We can't find the end! We go to the next stop and the next and the next, but the line keeps going. "What are you waiting for?" I ask the people. "This is the line for Pop." Oh, my God! It's 4 bus stops down! I hate to tell the kids, they're so tired. I have them sit on a bench and everytime we move a little farther down, they move to the next bench. After about 10 minutes, we're 2 stops down. Finally, here come 4 Pop busses! Everyone applauds! We don't get on, but at least it gets us to the bar area. I silently pray, Dear God, please let us get a seat, the kids are so tired and I don't think they could stand in a bus all the way back. Here come two more busses and yes, it looks like we're going to be standing. But right when we're about to walk up to the bus another 2 pull up and the CM says we can get on that one. Praise God! We jump on that bus and sit down and the boys fall asleep. It was nice and cool and you could just sleep forever, but I know we have to shower and finish packing when we get back. We got "home" and the boys showered while Babe and I struggled to get everything packed and for some reason, the clothes wouldn't fit back in the same suitcase we brought them in. The boys got in bed and we prayed together for a safe flight and thanked God for a wonderful trip, far beyond our expectations. Babe & I finally got to sleep around midnight.
We got up at 5 and were in line for the Magical Express at 6 am. We got to the airport by 7 am and when I went to buy us breakfast at McDonald's I pulled out my roomkey to pay. The cashier looked at me funny and I realized what I'd done. This is the real world now and I sadly placed that card in the back of my billfold. We arrived safely and immediately went to an authentic Mexican restaurant in Texas. God, we missed this!
The next evening Babe called me from work and said, "I miss it." "What, Babe?" I asked. "I want to go back, I miss being there." he says. I say, "We will. I promise, next year."

THE END. :flower:

I'm so sad this was the final installment of your trip report....I have loved reading them!! Glad you had such a magical vacation! :teeth:

What a great report.
And to think I almost missed it!!
Your kids are great but I'm sure you already know that.
You are very blessed.

Enjoyed the reports....yes, those bus stops at closing time are ridiculous. Disney does a real good job allocating resources and getting people back home as quick as possible. The whole thing just gets overwhelmed quickly. I think things may real-time traffic monitoring systems and GPS. This should be completed by the end of the Summer or sooner (I think...having probs finding the article) and will allow them to route buses more efficiently. I talked to a CM and they said a lot of tired people were complaining to guest relations over the situation. Soooo, Disney is responding to their guest needs as well as they can.

I'm so sad that your trip reports are done... I've had so much fun reading about your 'adventures in WDW.' I know the feeling about the fireworks, amazing aren't they? I can't wait to go for our honeymoon and have that feeling again...

Sending you lots and lots of PIXIE DUST that you will all get to return 'home' to WDW very soon!!!

GREAT WRITING!!
