I'm NvrBnToWDW and here is a short bio before I begin my trip report.
My Dh and I got married when he was 17 and I was 15
, no that's not a typo, it really does say 15. Yes, we were in the "family way" and both still in school. Having no money and Dh working part-time at the Gap, we were married in a recreational center meeting room (how romantic)
. We honeymooned at a local hotel (cheap hotel) downtown. Since we didn't have a car, Dh's brother dropped us off at the hotel and we spent the weekend walking downtown window shopping and eating. We also went to the movies and saw Disney's Aladdin, we got the student discount. By Monday, we went home (because Dh could only miss one day of school) and began our life together living with my mother.
Six months later, we were parents of a beautiful baby boy. Two years later, we had another baby boy. Being so young it was quite a struggle, but our love kept us going
. As the boys grew older, we decided to homeschool
them, since I had always been home with them. This was a hard decision financially, but it has been well worth it. This turned out to be a wise decision, because later we would find out my youngest son was colorblind and my oldest has dyslexia.
Even though we lived in such a tight budget, I would fantasize about a real dream wedding
when we celebrated our 10th Anniversary. Well, that came way too fast and we wound up at a cousin's house having a tostada dinner. So by the 11th Anniversary, I had given up my dream and settled for a nice romantic dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant with a live jazz band. My Dh made the reservations a month before and we got all dressed up for the evening, but suddenly my son had come down with pink eye. So we spent the evening at the doctor's and getting prescriptions for him. We were so starved we just grabbed a burger and rented a movie.
Now, let's talk about vacations. We had taken a total of 3 in 11 years and they were all less than 5 hours drive away. And all of them had been less than 3 days. Except for our last one...Now that one takes the cake! My mom and us drive down to the beach (5 hours away), well at the 4th hour her car breaks down in a small town and we wait in the rain 1 hour for the tow truck guy. He can only drive us to the nearest motel and it looks like Norman Bates owns it. The next day, the tow truck guy drives us 1 hour back to the car dealership where we sit 4 hours, just to get a rental car. We then drive another 2 hours to the beach and spent the day there. We spend the night in another raunchy motel and wait for the car to be ready. Still not ready? Another day at the beach and another night at the motel. Still not ready? Okay, we have to go home now, DH has to go to work and I'm worried about the dogs. Finally, the cars ready! Two hours south to the car and 5 hours north to home. What a vacation!
That did it! First, a sorry anniversary
and now a pathetic vacation! My mind's made up! Next year we're going to Walt Disney World! But how can we pay for that? We only have 1 income. Stop talking to yourself! Somehow, some way, God will provide. He always does. This will take a lot of faith and a great big miracle! Oh, and mucho dinero$!
So, the dream began in August 2004, and I booked our hotel (POP) in Nov 2004 (with only the down payment) and having no way of knowing how we would pay the rest. We celebrated our 12th Anniversary in Feb 2005. We celebrated by not buying gifts and putting the money in our WDW savings fund. We got our income tax in March and bought our flight tickets and MYW passes.
So now it's May 2005 and we have just come back from our first trip to WDW. (Notice I say "first") Our dream did come true. With God all things are possible!
Now that you know a lot about me, I will begin my trip report.....
