I've just been diagnosed with allergies to any and all nuts. I'm not super super allergic but my allergist said with my allergic history I should avoid all nuts and carry an epi pen. How accomadating is Disney with food allergies? Do I need to mention the allergy when I make my ADR's? TIA

They are extremely accomodating! I have nut allergies that vary, some nuts I'm midly allergic to while others I'm deathly allergic to. I'm also allergic to several other things.

I've never told them of the allergies when making ADR's, but instead tell the server when I'm seated.

The two hardest restaurants for me are the Kona Cafe and Boma, although I've always been accomodated at the Kona. Boma is just a disaster as I'm also allergic to coconut, which is in a majority of the foods there in one form or another.

First & foremost, DON'T PANIC! WDW is one of the best places in the world for dealing with food allergies. Next, read this post from the DisABILITIES FAQs http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=5873091&postcount=3 and follow the advice as appropriate.

Next, I DO recommend mentioning when you make the ADRs that you have a nut allergy. They will make a note in your ADR which you will want to reiterate when you check in for your ADR. Almost always, the Chef will come out to your table, discuss your allergies with you and tell you what is/isn't safe for you to eat, and suggest alternatives if necessary/appropriate.

Most of all, DO carry your epi-pen... & Enjoy the Magic!

As a courtesy to WDW you should mention any food limitations such as allergies. There are different degrees of allergic reaction such as for me I can tolerate a bit of soy but absolutely no wheat. Disney is very good about sit down dinner restaurants serving special meals for people with food limitations.

The FAQs have lots of links to advice and planning for your trip. Nuts are a common allergen and I seen a lot of discussion about nuts here. Do carry the pen with you because cross contamination can happen. I was eating the most yummy mexican style dish and the hostess at church said it was made with flour tortillas. NO wheat and I must have eaten a whole tortilla. :confused3 Accidents do happen so carry the epi pen.
