I know WDW is great with food allergies but I'm wondering what restuants (including counter service) you would avoid with peanut and tree nut allergies. My son (12 yo) is allergic to all nuts. We've been to Disney before and he was fine but I'm going to be reserving restaurants next month for the end of December and don't want to make the wrong decision.

Also, do you think there are anywhere that is especially good with nut allergies?

Thanks!

I have anaphylaxis-level allergies to milk, seafood (fish, shellfish, crustaceans), peanuts and tree nuts (but coconut, is fine). The seafood allergy can be airborne-triggered, and I have in the past had an issue at a non-Disney restaurant that had peanut shells all over the place and thus peanut dust in the air. I also have an adverse reaction to aspartame, but it is not an allergy.

I have been to disney multiple times with these allergies, except the milk, which was new on our last trip.

I have always gotten the same level of excellent service no matter where we ate, with two exceptions: Aloha Aisle was misinformed about the ingredients in pineapple Dole Whip (I have since been in contact with Disney and they were going to correct that problem), and the quick service restaurant at the Beach Club Marketplace refused to serve me a hot breakfast. Of course, the particulars of how you are handled is different at TS and QS restaurants, but it was always excellent except for those two.

Now, we choose our restaurants, so I do not try places that have lots of seafood on the menu (e.g. Cape May) because that would be too much in the air. For the same reason, no Red Lobster for me at home :-)

Disney has their menus online, so i read those and they help make our choices. I communicate in advance with Disney Special Diets. I bring disposable plastic placemats to reduce the cross-contamination onto me issue. And I always carry at least two epinephrine autoinjectors.

Reading allergy reviews and blogs of the various disney restaurants can be helful, even if they are not your particular allergies. they will help you see the process in action and get an idea of the options that are available.

make sure to note the peanut/tree nut allergy on all the ressies you make. but be aware that you can run into peanut butter anywhere in the parks. had grandson react to very small amount on chains while in line in MK. did see a lot of uncrustable type sandwiches all over the parks

Sadly this is so true. We have had to get out of lines before because people were eating peanut butter crackers, sandwiches etc in line and making a huge mess. Caution benches and chains and rails etc. We avoid all Asian so we do this at WDW too. We avoid Ohana because the peanut sauce is on every table though of course you can request none at your table. We also avoid Pinocchio house because I had read on these boards about so many kids eating the un-crustable there and then looking out the windows and having the mess smeared everywhere. I know that can be anywhere but we just choose not to go.

I avoid Ohana and China. Mainly because my girls are still rather young (10 & 5). I'm just afraid they will touch something that maybe someone else touched etc. Like others have said it can be an issue anywhere but they have nut based sauce so it just seems like a bigger threat. Also in China I'm concerned about the language barrier as well and explaining the allergies. My dd (6) also has a sesame allergy. (We avoid Chinese food at home too) I'm sure it would be fine but I don't want to have an issue especially on vacation. When they get a little older and don't touch so many things : ) I will try it again.
