...Tell me more! What is the rate? Is it hard to get? What is the room for this rate? Can I upgrade?

Thanks! :D

I have stayed at the Swan several times on the teacher/nurse discount. It is wonderful! I believe it is still $129.00 per night and they do upgrade the rooms when they can. There is more info than you can find time to read a few posts up under the new S/D questions. This is our favorite area to stay in and this price is unbeatable.:)

Call the hotel and ask if the "Nurse's rate" is available for the dates you want. If it isn't, try www.dreamsunlimited.com They were able to get me the teacher's rate when the hotel told me they were sold out!

I am going to try to call and see if I can get it. If not...I will check dreamsunlimited. One more question...I read somewhere that you can get up to three rooms at this rate. Is that true?

Thanks gschmerl!!

I called the Dolphin with no luck, but DID find the rate available on dreamsunlimited :D

Now my question is (it never ends ;) )...what is the cancellation policy with dreamsunlimted? Couldn't find it on the site... I would love to book it now while it's there :D ,j but we haven't worked out details of childcare etc. yet. I would hate to miss it, but I would also hate to book and not be able to get out without penalty

Anyone?

I went ahead and booked the Dolphin! :D I found the cancellation policy (7 days prior without penalty).

Thanks to this board...I upgraded my spg status to Gold today after acquring a Platinum AMEX yesterday. I don't even have the card yet, but the lady upgraded me while I was on the phone! FYI...we also own Starwood Stock and I asked her about Gold vs. Corporate Preferred. She said Gold was a 'higher' level than the Corporate.

Thanks everyone!

BTW...how do I add the countdown timer again (I forgot how I did that).

I can't wait!!:D

pewing,
So glad you were able to get the nurses rate. Dreams Unlimited seems to be able to work wonders!
I e-mailed a request for a room in the East wing on a high floor. We had a view of Epcot, MGM, and the boardwalk. It was great!

gschmerl -

Where did you email your request to? When did you do it? Thanks for the tip on a good spot ;) I was just about to ask :D

Just an FYI: the GOLD status you received is the basic level of the program. You are entitled to an upgrade based upon availibility at the time of check-in.

Typically at the Swan/Dolphin, it is an upgraded view (example: facing the crescent lake).

A balcony is not included in this upgrade, but can be done at check-in for an additional fee.

When you make it to PLATINUM Starwood Preferred Guest program status, then you are entitled to a suite upgrade based upon availibility at check-in.

Platinum status is based upon the number of nights you stay at a Starwood property in one year.

Good luck and hope you get an awesome upgrade!

pewing,
If I remember correctly, I went and checked my reservation on the Starwood site. There was a link to contact them with any requests. When I checked in (at the Starwood Preferred desk). I asked if there was any chance of an upgrade. She saw the request I had sent in and we got it!

When I made my ressie at the gov't rate of $129 I asked for "best view available."

At check-in I asked to use my SPG points to upgrade to a balcony. The desk clerk said he could do this, but the only balcony rooms available did not have the greatest view...he suggested that I go look at my room and assess the view, then come back for the upgrade if I still wanted it.

We had room 19101 with the most fantastic view of both EPCOT and MGM. No way was I giving that up!

Anyway, the point of my story is that the Dolphin is great, the staff were extremely helpful, and always ask.
