Number You Invited and Number Attended???

Hello! I was just wondering how many people were invited to your DFTW and how many actually came... I live in MS and my mother is worried no one will show up!

So, I'm hoping all of you who are in the Disney Weddings Forum that have been married, please let me know what your numbers were... If you don't mind, that is!

We're planning for 2012 (unless we can't save $$$ for our budget --- due to kid emergencies and whatnot) so ours definitely isn't official yet. However, we've informed our wedding party already, so at least they'll be there. Anyway, that's all I really needed to know!

our wedding isn't until january, so i am not speaking from experience. however, generally, "destination" weddings are "less" attended than a hometown ceremony, the declines i think are usually guestimated to be in the 20-30% range for your average event. but i have heard from friends and on the boards etc.., that you would be quite surprised (depending perhaps on date/time of the wedding) how many people will make that trip!! it CAN be a higher rate of return than of even a hometown celebration!

Our wedding is still 5 months away but we have a confirmed number of 27 guests from 49 that we had invited. Our guest count mostly consist of immediate family and good friends. I'm actually extremely glad that a good portion of the 49 invitees said no because it would of broke our budget, big time!

We have about 225 on the guest list and I'd really hate to have to cut anyone (but we will if we have to!) We've been dating for almost 3 years now so everyone already knows how serious we are, lol. But I definitely want to tell everyone to start saving their money for a wedding/vacation soon!

We have about 225 on the guest list and I'd really hate to have to cut anyone (but we will if we have to!) We've been dating for almost 3 years now so everyone already knows how serious we are, lol. But I definitely want to tell everyone to start saving their money for a wedding/vacation soon!

We sent out save the dates about 8 months prior to the wedding. WE had a pretty good idea how many people were going to make it within weeks of that. I think for destination weddings, people know if they can or cannot afford it in advance. Our RSVP's were due about 2 months prior to the wedding date.

Also, mind you, this was right before the recession.. so it was also easier. We also gave people lots of inexpensive options. For hotels, we made sure to include a value resort. We made sure to point out that transportation was free with Magical Express and we would have busses on the day of the wedding. And.. we had no events inside the parks. We made everything as simple as possible for our guests.

Also, just from experience.. I've traveled out of state for a few weddings. As soon as I get the invite or save the date, I usually know if I'll be able to go. Financially ... you know the weddings you want to save up for. I'm going to a wedding in Mexico in a few weeks, and although I didn't have the money in the bank when I got the save the date, I knew there was no way I would miss this wedding. I saved and saved and I'm going.

I've had invites to other weddings closer to home that I knew wasn't worth the expense. So... I think it's pretty obvious to most people. Unless of course, they really want to go but really can't afford it - but that's a whole another issue.

I had about 80% come. Most from NY, and a few from the southern states.

I had about 45% come. And only one couple was from Orlando. Everyone else was from out of town.

That is what I am hoping will happen to me! We are inviting around 100 people. I would love for everyone to come but it would really help our budget it not everyone can make it. Is that bad to say? Everybody is telling us they are coming though.

That's an encouraging number...it sounds terrible of me for not wanting a lot of people to show up to my wedding. We each have big families and couldn't cut out any of the uncles and aunts without cutting them all. So we had to invite 120 but our venue only holds 102. I'm hoping to get the final count to be under 90...less than 80 would be great!

No wedding plans, but whether guests will come is definitely something weighing on my mind.

I can honestly only think of maybe 10 people that would make the trip; of course, I am from Indiana so.....

Oh wow! That's exciting! I wish we could only have 10 people... But just my immediate family is over 50 people. I haven't even included my closest friends that I really want there. IDK, hopefully, the majority of them won't show... Is that bad? LOL... It's expensive feeding 125 people... even with the dessert parties. Ugh... but what you gonna do?

I know exactly what you mean. We had to invite everyone (which meant 150 in total, family alone was around 70, most of the others were extended family friends). Most of DF's family can't make the trip. We had the same hopes you did, invite everyone but still have a smallish wedding for budgeting purposes, and our venue holds a max of 80 people.
