We just got back from DIsney and our 5 and 2 year old cousins vomitted the whole way home... took them to the doctor first thing this morning and they have food piosing from eatting mac and cheese at MGM.. I guess it was old!! PLease help..where can we notify them of this so no one else gets sick!!

I am so, so, so sorry that this happened to your little ones! I'm not much help with a telephone number though - maybe call the reservation line?

I also gout food poisoning while on my honeymoon, what's worse it was only two days into our trip, so the next three days were misery. I always tell my husband he saw me at my worst and he still stayed with me, that's love. Anyway we contacted the hotel we were staying at and they helped us get in contact with the right people. Just so you know Disney did pay our medical bills, but they would not reimburse us anything else. The problem was the doctor did not take samples, so they would not do anything. If samples had been taken then they would have paid for the three days we were unable to leave the room (we were on the Grand Plan, so we lost a lot of money). They will want to know every where you ate, because they contacted all the restaurants.

which restaurants did you eat at? Either of you? And my heart goes out to you! I got food poisoning at a Chick-Fil-A in Cincinnati and I seriously thought I was going to die! Weirdly, it wasn't the chicken, but mayonnaise that had gone bad!

It was the brown derby and it was the tuna. I thought I was going to die, we had to have the doctor come to our room and then take us to the clinic. We had to get shots and all we could drink or eat for three days was pedialyte. They told us that if we would have waited any longer we would have had to been hospitalized. I always say you will known when you have food poisoning it's nothing like the stomach flu!

Your best bet is to contact Orange County officials. Without proof (i.e., actual food tested by an independent lab) that the poisoning came from that location, Disney officials would be obligated to decline responsibility for your little one's unfortunate episodes.

A friend of mine got food poisoning at the Hoop De Doo Review. He said he used the bathroom in every country in Epcot the next day

this is purely ignorance on my part, not accusation or doubt.

How can you tell which food and from which place you contracted food-borne illness? I thought I had heard different pathogens take different lengths of time to colonize enough to show symptoms. I had previously heard that if the food has turned bad, you would get sick within a couple hours...but I am pretty sure I also read that some foodborne microorganisms take 12-24 hours to give symptoms.

Anyway, just wondering how to prove where it was contracted (unless, like sometimes happens, there are a large number of people who got ill from eating at a certain restaurant on a certain day...that just happened in a local restaurant).

That's precisely why these things need to go through the health department. Only they are in the position to determine where, if anywhere, the poisoning occurred.

Wow, what a bummer. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Just curious - how was your doctor able to diagnose food poisoning and specifically what caused it? Is there some sort of test they run? Did you have a sample of the food?

Actually not to be too gross but they were sick in the doctors office and they did test. Based on that test and the whole situation we are pretty sur ethats what happened. It was from the meal we suspected but even if it wasnt it would still have been at Disney because thats where we ate every single meal , snack etc for a week ... we didnt eat offsite once for anything.

The whole story is that we were traveling with ourselves and another family.. we ate every meal together. Out of 5 children the 2 who shared the mac and cheese got sick within about 2 to 3 hours after eatting eat and they were both got sick within 30 mins of each other.. we were driving in seperate cars and everything... trust me it was a long way home. We have complained to Disney but like I said we were not looking for anything just wanting to make them aware but I can tell you we wont be eatting at the same place again. Wefinally got in contact with the general manager of MGM's food and beverage.

We probably wont contact the health officials as this was already a few days ago. Thanks for everones help.

Ok please tell us what restaurant it was at. You mentioned it was at MGM but didn't say where. Thanks.

It was Rosies All American Cafe counter service. It is right across the from the Fantasmic Theater. I have eatten there many times but this time we just had an issue. I am sure things like this are bound to happen with the size of Disney but it still is upsetting.

In fact there are some types of food poisoning that can take up to 72 hours like Salmonella. I had Salmonella poisoning a few years ago and let me tell you it was horrible and my stomach has never been quite the same since!

Sorry your kids got sick - that can be a frightening experience to say the least!

Listeria takes up to 78 DAYS!

Also, with most food poisoning, it's not the last meal you ate, it's what you ate the day before

Do you know what they tested for? I'm just curious.

But I also wanted to let you know that you don't have to report it to board of health. If it was a food bourne bug such as salmonella, the doctor is usually mandated to report.
