I just recycling the portions of my TR which are applicable to the AKL/AKV and posting them as I post them in my TR. I have a few more updates that I can post and will when I get them ready for my TR.

The flat crispy ones were the Pappadum, and just because the Naan bread is fluffier, both are equally tasty in their own rites. I like having both for the contrast in flavors.

The flat crispy ones are a complementary appetizer at an Indian place here! Glad I know the name now! They serve it with this spicy, tomato looking sauce. Mm

But, I'm definitely a naan fan.

.....YAY~~Alison brought pictures!!! Keep them coming - they're FABULOSO!

Hi experts!

So DH with two toddlers (3&1) are headed to Disney this September. Rented points for BLT with my parents which will be great.... But resides don't start until Sunday and we decided to drive down Saturday instead to have a resort day before we start in the parks.

I had tossed out the idea with AOA or a moderate.....but now I think I really want the AKL! Dd3 is animal crazy (as is her dad) so I think the pools and activities would be great. But I'm also trying to be cheap(er). It will be value season and I have an AP. I want AKL but not at rack rates.

What is te best strategy....wait it out and book standard view when the discounts are released? Or pool view for a few bucks more? Or rent a studio villa/wait or Disney discount on one?

I think for September I would just wait until some discounts are being released. Since you don't want to pay rack rate, you are not losing anything by not booking now. Also, Disney relaeses discounts when they need them to fill rooms. So in order to get discounts it makes sense to not take rooms out of inventory by booking them ahead of time.

I personally would always suggest a pool view room for best value at AKL. The view is very nice and it is considerably cheaper than savanna view, but only a little bit more expensive than standard. However, I think pool view is often the least discounted category.

If you were to rent points now you could not cancel that reservation if Disney comes out with discounts.

....if it's only one day, I'd book it and see if the prices come down - if they do, then, cancel the original room and rebook....

Then we headed out to the restaurant around 6:30PM

It wasn’t very busy, but still they wanted to give us a pager.

It didn’t take long for them to seat us and we were right next to a window. It was already dark, so we really couldn’t see a lot of animals. So we began to peruse the menu.

We started off with the bread service. We choice 2 orders of Naan, Garlic Ginger Naan, Onion Kulcha and Pappadum. For accompaniments we had the Cucumber Raita (clockwise from the top), Red Chile Sambal, Mango Chutney, Garlic Pickle, and Tamarind Chutney.

Here are the Mustard Seed Crusted Scallops with Coconut Cream Sauce.

And the Lamb Kefta Kebabs with Mint Chutney.

And then we split the Sanaa Vegetarian Sampler, we chose the Stewed Lentils and Paneer Tikka with Basmati Rice. They split it into two portions for us.

We passed on dessert. That was a perfect meal.

After seeing this we may have to try Sanaa! The bread sampler and scallops look awesome. We're the scallops an appetizer or an entree?

On this cold winterly new england day I'm sitting here (still recovering from a total knee replacement so not much else to do) thinking / dreaming of our August vacation and I CAN NOT WAIT! If I could I'd be there right now!!!! :drive:

So.... on our arrival day (which is a Wednesday), we have a 6am flight and should arrive in Orlando at 9am. We have friends on a different flight arriving an hour later - we may actually wait at MCO for them and have a late breakfast / coffee at the airport and all take ME together, or just head to AKL and meet them there. Either way, our arrival will be between 10:30-11:30 in the morning.

We have no plans for the day. I'm considering making dinner ressies for DH, myself, and my 2 children (ages 8 and 10). My 8 year old is a very good eater, the 10 year old not so much and his dining is compounded by a nut allergy. We are thinking Saana (Sorry if I misspelled) since we are staying at Kindanni. I don't think the price of Bomba is worth it for the kids and the buffets pose a greater risk for his allergy. Any thoughts???

We are booked for a 1BR Savannah view - should we just plan poolside and get counterservice (we can walk over at dinner time and then explore Jambo house a bit) or make our dinner resservation??

Thoughts??? What do you like to do your day of arrival??

I think I'd wait & do Magical Express together. It would probably be fun to arrive at the same time.

If the menu at Sanaa sounds good to you, then I'd do that! But don't be afraid of Boma. My DS13 has a tree nut allergy & the chef was great! They will even make a special batch of something he likes to ensure no contamination. WDW is the best place in the world to have an allergy!!! :)

And  hope you have a pain free, speedy recovery with the knee!!!

I really should know better than to look at menus when I'm at work and staring at my afternoon snack of instant oatmeal.
