NPB Refurbs - Free 50€ voucher at check in?

Hiya everyone,

We'll be arriving at the NPB for our trip at the end of the month and just recieved an email today telling us due to ongoing refurbishments certain facilities will not be available during our stay (sauna,pool etc). This doesn't bother us as we didn't intend on using them anyway.
However it also says on the email that to compensate they will be giving us a 'free 50€ voucher at your arrival at the Disney's Newport Bay Club, valid in any of the Disney boutiques of the resort.'
Is this a new thing? Has anyone else experienced this? As I hadn't heard of it. It's a nice surprise though!

Does anyone else have any more info?

It's been an on-going thing for the last a few months. They also allow you to use the pool at another Disney hotel.

From what I have gathered they advertise the existence of the 50€ vouchers in advance when the complaint numbers rise. When they get fewer complaints they don't tell you but if you make a complaint at the reception desk they will give you the voucher.

Some travel agent customers are also getting them but not all, as DLP tend to refer these customers back to the TA company with whom they booked with.

With the on going refurbishment work in the Newport Bay Club we have decided to transfer our June DLP booking from a Lakeside View Admirals Floor Room in the NPBC to a Golden Forest Lake View room in the Sequoia Lodge.

Now I'm looking forward to stress free holiday and the Golden Forest Club Lounge. Only 210 days until we arrive in the magic, not that I'm counting or anything.

Thanks for the reply Jonjo. We aren't too fussed about the refurbs as this wasn't the type of holiday that we would have much time to spend using the facilities anyway. However am I right in understanding then that it's likely we'll only be offered the voucher if we mention it at check-in?
As I said we aren't particularly bothered about the lack of facilities but if they're giving these vouchers away as a gesture of goodwill it can't hurt to accept it :confused3

Take a print-out of the email with you, just in case they do not offer it to you when you check in at the hotel.

We were at the resort two weeks ago and as we travel by Eurostar, we used the Disney Express Service. When the CM came aound to had out Guests their hotel packs on the train, the family opposit us who were staying at the NPBC had their 50€ voucher included in the envelope and I over hearded the CM explain to them about the NPBCs pool being closed and they would be able to use the pool at either SQ or HNY.

When we received ours I joked with the CM and asked if there was a 50€ voucher for us too as our hotel does not have a pool either (we were staying at the Cheyenne). She went though our pack with us and was surpised by the PhotoPass+ voucher as she had not seen one before.

As we were chatting the CM told us she was very shocked that a lot of Guests still did not know the NPBC was under refurbishment. It appears that a lot of travel agents are still not telling their customers about the works on-going at the hotel. At least Dinsey does tell you.

Have fun spening you 50€ voucher, buy somthing nice!
 

That's a nice disney gesture....be sure to treat yourself to something that you have longed to do but perhaps considered too pricey.... Enjoy

Yes I did, it seems to be exactly the same as the original confirmation email I received but just with the new voucher bit added in. So I'll show them that when I get to the hotel and hopefully it'll be all okay.
