Now what

I want to add on 125 points. I own at OKW and VB and would rather add on at OKW. So, I called my guide who was very nice but said they have done away with wait lists for adding on at sold out resorts. She said I can not get OKW and would have to do VB instead. I said I would check into resales first - I kind of thought that might make her change her mind about a wait list. Not so! Anyway, I read that people have added on recently at OKW and BWV - what gives? Any suggestions? Thanks

If you are interested in the name of the resale broker we used please email me. She was very nice to deal with, very low key, called when she got the resale I was looking for, kept in good communications through out the entire transactions and from offer to closing only took 4 weeks with one of the weeks being Christmas week when things really slow down.

Resale unfortunately is the only way to go when buying into OKW and BW.

Hi Ed, Thanks! I think I have seen you post before about resales and that you used Jaki (hopefully I am remembering corectly). Anyway, we also used her to buy our OKW contract and used Disney for our VB contract. I guess I was just under the impression from other posts that we might be able to add on at sold out resorts through a wait list. However, my guide tells me NO. I already emailed Jaki about the number of points I want but I am not overly confident that the right resale will come along before the price goes up. I guess I will have to wait and see.

Have you considered VWL? I know its not the most bang for the point, but if you want to be at WDW and don't want to wait for an OKW resale its an option. Depending on what you want and when you want it you could probably get OKW at 7 months (with VB points too..)but with VWL at least your back up is in WDW. Just a thought....

I would look at VWL. Get enough points to point manage into the 11 month window every other year or so.

Thanks for the suggestions. However, we were not thrilled with VWL. It is a very nice resort but we did not like the rooms at all. They seemed small - I think it was the dark colors. The hallways seemed so dark too. It is not to say that we would never stay there, but I don't want points there.
I would rather have OKW (1st choice). Maybe I am being too skeptical, but I just don't see 125 points with the correct use year becoming available through a resale. I was counting on a wait list with Disney. I guess not!

Hi, Lisa. If I remember right, most of the people who have posted about successfully using the waiting list at Disney (including myself) for add-ons were looking for add-ons at BWV. I don't know if that's coincidence, or because BWV was more recently sold out than OKW.

I remember reading one guy's post where he was told "no such thing as an add-on waiting list" by his guide. When he asked to speak to a supervisor, there were suddenly points available and he got them right then. Again, I think that was for BWV.

I'm still confused why some guides (like mine) encourage and work with the waiting list for add-ons, while others apparently rule it out or claim it doesn't exist. Is there any merit in asking to speak to a supervisor and getting the real scoop on what's up with add-on waiting lists?

One way or another, best wishes as you add on more points somewhere! I'm pretty new to all of this, but I think I already have a case of DVC Point Fever! It's an addiction, isn't it?

Lisa - I would get on the resale borkers list. Location Loacation.

They found us a resale add on at BWV. (The hard part, as with all thing DVC, was having the patience to wait for it to happen when the little kid inside kept screaming I want Disney and I want it now!, or was that the DW?)
