Now that warm weather is here, who is planning a yardsale??

Stores (like Target, Walmart, etc) carry pre-priced colorful stickers that I use. They have several sheets in 1 package of $1, $3, $5 stickers, plus 25, 50 and 75 cent stickers, a couple blank ones to write in your amount and a Make an Offer sticker. I usually go through the cents stickers pretty quickly, so I also buy a package of blank colorful circle stickers that I can write the amount in.

My mom has been having yard sales since I was 9. I remember having to use masking tape when I was young. I'd write the amount on the tape and then rip it off to put on the item. What a huge pain that was! The stickers I use are so much easier and way less time consuming.

I love these stickers!! I use them as well and they are easy. My kids also love them.

If any of you are on Facebook, I have several local facebook pages for yardsale items, we are in the middle of basically re-doing most of our house and I am really getting rid of items, I have sold quite a number of things on these local sites and for much more than I would have marked at a regular yard sale! You just post pics and info and people reply when they want, the biggest thing is meeting up with people, but so far I have had only 1 person not show up and I ended up selling it to someone else! I have been putting all the money I make into my Disney fund, so far I am at $145.00!!

oh, good idea!! thank you!

I am trying to plan a yard sale too. We are building a new house, and will be moving in 6 months. So I know we need to get rid of things!

Our biggest issue is that I work 2 weekends a month, so finding a time is hard. If I am off Friday, I work Saturday. :(

I am off Thurs & Fri this week. I have tubs of things put aside for a sale in my basement. If I can get them all up to the garage this week, I will try for Friday for a sale.

I am hoping to mostly clear stuff out of the house, but any money made will go towards some new furniture for the new house. That is taking priority over any trips at this point. :)

Good luck to anyone having sales!

When checking the weather I see it is going to rain all through the week and most likely the weekend.

What do you do when it rains? I am thinking of putting a rain date in our local paper.

A guy stopped in today who heard about the sale coming up and bought $200 worth of stuff! Then we sold a few sets of sheets for $10.

I hope the sale does as well.

We're planning one for May and will use the money for extra stuff in Disney like water from garden grocer, extra snacks, airport meals. I don't have any big expensive items, but I hope to make $100-$200.

I'm having a hard time with pricing. I haven't had a sale in 6 years and we don't go to sales anymore. What would you price for these items?

1. Little Tikes kiddie pool - in pretty good condition. I don't think they sell these anymore and I paid about $60.

2. Little Tikes table and 2 chairs, pink and white. They've been kept clean and indoors but we've had them for over 10 years.

3. Cinderella vanity and chair, plastic. We have the key that makes the vanity talk but not the little accessory bottles that go in the 5 slots. $10? I saw one at Salvation army that was really beat up for $15. Ours is like new.

We have one a year at our church in the parking lot and it is fantastic. I made over $200 and bought a ping pong table for $10. We had loads of people all morning. It was totally free as the church advertised and even gave us a big table to use. We brought other tables ourselves. I suggest trying to go with neighbors and have a block garage sale. You could try your church or even advertise for getting a group together in a park. The more people that come to it the better.

$200 is a pretty typical take for us, but I see my wife put probably 75-100 hours of labor into prep time, and another 15-20 hours for me. Not to mention half the time we end up being busy at work, so I end up losing a Saturday's worth of overtime sitting in my garage all day. I'd be money & time ahead to just throw everything in the trash and go to work instead :lmao:

We also live in a rural area. We do have state highway frontage, but even with binoculars I can only see 3 or 4 other houses from my yard. Our best sale we hauled everything in to my office "in town", but even that one was barely worth the effort. Plus, my boss dumped all his crap on us & spent all day visiting with the people who showed up instead of helping :lmao:

We've had a lot better luck with that & Craigslist than we have with the traditional yard sale. For kids clothes, my wife takes everything in to work pre-priced. What doesn't sell goes to Goodwill.

We've had a couple of fairly successful ($400-$500) sales, and a couple of not-worth-the-time sales. I finally figured out (duh) that earlier in the year makes for a better sale. I had planned to have one last year, but wasn't able to find the time, so I have stuff in about 5 or 6 big Rubbermaid tubs, just waiting to go out. And I had tried to sell TONS of stuff on Craigslist that never went anywhere, so that's going in the sale (posted, reposted, and posted again, and no interest). We're also planning on a Disney trip that this sale will help fund! Several of my neighbors have sales, and I guess I'm not in that loop, because I find out about it when they have their garages open and it's too late for me -- I think I'll call them today and ask about their garage sale plans for the spring!
