Ok, since the closing of the DD clubs, does anyone know of anything in the works for nightlife and or does anyone know of anything else to do @ night away from the parks?

There is always shopping at DTD, or walking the boardwalk, or even exploring Orlando, if you have transportation.

I just got back from a Girls Only Trip and we found this issue to be very annoying. We were there when the parks closed early. After 11pm there is really just not a whole lot to do. A few places are open until midnight or later at the Boardwalk. Jellyrolls is about the only nightclub type place that I know of. But they allow smoking so that was not an option for us. We didn't have a car so we were stuck on property.

This lack of nightlife has us really considering other options for next year.

OK, I've been pondering this myself. Here are my suggestions:

1. The Boardwalk "experience." Go to Jellyrolls, ESPN, and then start hitting all the bars at Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Dolphin, and Swan.

2. The Monorail Loop. Hit the bars at Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary. Then when you're "happy," go into Magic Kingdom and watch Spectromagic and/or Wishes. I did this once on a business trip. I was there alone and had a night to myself. I started with a Crown & 7 in the (deathly quiet) Grand Floridian bar. Had a nice talk with the bartender. Then moved to Polynesian, where I talked for an hour with a couple who were "escaping" their kids for a drink or two. Moved to Contemporary, where I ate dinner at the bar. I was HAMMERED by the time I stumbled into the Magic Kingdom. I watched Spectromagic and Wishes, then took the boat back to the Grand Floridian. It was one of the best nights I've ever had at Disney! Relaxing!

3. The EPCOT drunk. Bet you can't handle a drink in every country! Don't look at it as a theme park experience, look at it as a night out. Talk to people in the bars.

4. Cab to Universal CityWalk? Not sure how much it would cost, but it's a similar enough to Pleasure Island.

I don't go to Disney to drink... but we usually enjoyed a night or two at Pleasure Island. Part of the appeal was that we could drink and not have to worry about getting a cab, or designated drivers. Disney NEEDS to come up with an alternative. Maybe expand Boardwalk? Let's start by relocating the Adventurer's Club there!

And there you have the perfect example of why I am scratching my head about the PI closings.

Too easy for us nightlifers to leave Disney Property and give our dollars to Universal.

Pity, because I am perfectly willing to keep my dollars "in the family", so to speak, but I still enjoy a night out at the clubs.

But depending on what time of year you go that still gets you home by 12:15! The only thing we found open past midnight was Jellyrolls. The resort bars, the parks, a few places at Boardwalk all closed at 12. Not sure about ESPN though.

We were looking for "grown up" things to do after the parks closed from about 11-2am. Not much luck.

I'm curious about the same thing. I never hear much about Atlantic Dance Hall on here? Is it any good? :confused3 Any busier since PI closed? I might have to bring Guitar Hero along to keep myself entertained into the wee hours of the night. :worship:

I don't know where you're staying, but we just came back from a trip and we stayed at Coronado Springs. They have a nice small lounge there (Rix Lounge) with a DJ and a dancefloor (although nobody was really dancing when we were there).

I saw pictures of the Rix Louge when I was considering things to do on New Years. Looks nice. We'll dance alone, we don't care.

We're not much into Drinking "wife is" im more into the music. Sounds like Orlando or maybe a ride to Tampa may be in order.
