Now That the Pin Trading Event is Over...

Not sure how you found out that a staff member feelings were hurt but I suspect it was the same as it happened before when staff contacted a DIS member within the game.

I am deeply concerned about this Roof!

You should not be made to feel like you have hurt staff feelings and who ever made you feel that way needs to be reprimanded... I am sorry if they (staff) do not want to hear that but it concerns me that any member of this or any other VMK fansite forum is approached within the game and made to feel bad about something they have said here on the DIS or any other forum board for that matter. If that is how you found out about "hurt feelings".

VMK staff should under no circumstances discuss this with you with in the bounds of the game itself or at all in my opinion. Players should not have to worry about what staff members feelings get hurt. Actually their feelings should not be getting hurt to begin with they should be able to take constructive criticism of the game for what is it an avenue to possibly the betterment of the game not a personal attack.

This is not the first time this has happened and I truly hope that VMK makes it perfectly clear to their staff that actions of this sort should not happen.

What you said was a valid statement and response to how you felt about this event, period.

Footnote:

We( the DIS VMK Moderators) will not, according to DIS BOARD GUIDELINES, allow bashing of individual VMK Hosts, staff or producers although we do welcome open discussion about the game and its events.

Mal, your guess is correct. A staff member did talk to me in the game about my post through a trade window. I will not name that staff member because it doesn't matter who it was. The worst part was I got disconnected before I could explain myself so it may have seemed like I was being rude. That's why I chose to post my clarification.

I want to make some things clear about the entire situation. Yes, I'm upset that I hurt someone's feelings but I'm glad to have the chance to clear things up. The more upsetting thing for me is I just did not feel comfortable discussing my post within the game. I wasn't sure if I should acknowledge the post because technically, I would be going against VMK values. I do not wish for the person who spoke to me to be reprimanded. I believe this person's intent was to be helpful (and they were). I also like this person a lot. I do want this person and all VMK staff to think about the mixed message they are sending when they talk to a player about something they have written outside of the game.

I'm not sure how VMK staff can handle this type of situation. They could reply to a post just like anyone else but without revealing they are VMK staff. I suppose it would be okay for VMK staff to contact a moderator about a post and ask the moderator to post a reply asking for clarification. I really don't know.

YES! The reason the ride/slide events work so well is that the throughput
is much faster! The "autoprize" feature you mentioned that they've used
with the ride-a-thons and winner teleporter exits have been a much needed
improvement with efficiency.

I agree that games that allow a lot of players at a time (Beach Front Property
and the new "Where's Hula?" hiding game) are good examples of efficiency.
And a game that you can actually participate in is much better than a game
you dc in the middle!

I agree 100% with this! Things are definitely much better lately. I have been able to play the games I wanted to play due to the improvements with efficiency! Yes, I still get dc sometimes but nothing like in the past. I know others are still having major problems but I do feel like we are being listened to and our concerns are being addressed. :thumbsup2

I think it is important to distinguish Hosts for the game elements themselves. The hosts are paid staff doing a job. They do not set up the games or determine how the game functions, etc.... It is very unfair to be angry with the hosts for an event that caused frustration.

Although the idea of 2 hosts working one line in pin trading is an excellent one, it just does not make business sense. This is a free game and staff are paid. It would be extremely difficult to justify the business expense of paying 2 employees when they are only pay 1.

As much as it is a game and enjoyment for us - it is a business. With VMK as a free game, sadly there is no justification for them to add additional staff during such events.

Again, I think that the hosts this weekend did their best to keep the lines moving - but it isn't their fault that so many of us had a frustrating experience. They are not the decision makers behind the game - they are just the "faces" that we see.

I agree with this for the most part. I don't think it would be a huge budget issue to have more rooms open during a game or event where the lines move slowly. There seem to be plenty of staff on duty most of the time so the money is already being spent. I realize the staff on duty have many tasks to handle and to think they could be pulled from those tasks to open a guest room is simplistic. I still would like to see more rooms open for this type of event. I don't believe the staff members we see in the game can make this change, it is up to their management.

qruthie...you should not have to apologize to that staff for hurting their feelings. You were stating your opinion on an unrelated site and you should be able to do so freely. I saw nothing in your post that was cruel to any individual staff member. You have all heard the saying, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas", so it should be the same for whatever happens outside vmk, stays outside vmk. This particular host should have either posted to the discussion or pm'ed you here...NOT in the game. Nobody should be made to feel they said or did something wrong if nobody was personally attacked. You were, in my opinion, personally attacked for voicing your opinion. Makes me wonder who else was put on the spot like that for other things said here.
Guess I'll be losing another host from my friends list for posting my opinion, but I can't get into the staff games anymore anyway. :lmao:

Just to make things clear, I haven't indicated who contacted me or if they are male or female. I will not do that because it isn't important.

Well I am probably on the Host and staff black list this week also but I feel very strongly about this issue.

Host/Staff should not confront players in the game and make them feel uncomfortable about anything.

I am not saying that Host/Staff should not contact a Moderator or a Webmaster here on the DIS if they see something that is posted that is untrue but to contact a player and tell them they had their feelings hurt by something said on this forum or any forum for that matter is so wrong.

Members/players should not feel like they might be uncomfortable, upset, or penalized in any way by posting their feelings on this forum(or any forum). You should be free to say what you feel here.

In this case I am not really sure what this Host was upset about I read nothing that was an attack on them as a person or a host.

If a member attacks a VMK staff member here then that staff, another staff, or another DIS board member can report that to the moderators and we will deal with it as we would any attack on the boards. That is not to say you can not disagree with staff actions or judgments. You just can not attack them.
