And I changed my reservation to a room only with the Annual pass discount
is there any down side to doing this? I should have probably asked that question before taking the plunge but what's the worst that can happen~ Disney hangs up on me when they see me calling AGAIN!

WDW will always talk with you - just if they are very busy you may have to wait for your turn. Try calling around 10 am or 2pm if you can.
