Who do YOU think SHOULD have been nominated, but didn't?

I have one: Jamie Lee Curtis, for Freaky Friday. Even Joel Siegal of Good Morning America agrees with me. He was saying that people always underestimate how difficult it is to do comedy, and that Jamie Lee was great in that movie. I agree.

Who would YOU like to see nominated??? And no wisecracks about Ben and Jen in "Gigli"

I would have go with Russel Crowe...I know, I know he's been nominated the past 3 or is it 4 movies he's been in but Master and Commander was WONDERFUL!

and I would have to say someone, anyone from LOTR!...

Holycow

Sean Astin as Sam for best Supporting Actor in Lord of The Rings.

Also Andy Serkis who played Gollum. He was remarkable.

I'm sort of glad that Nicole Kidman didn't get a nomination. I agree with Claudia Cohen that she was just too perfectly made up throughout the movie. It didn't fit.

I wish that they would have seperate categories for the comdies, so many movies and actors either don't get nominated or have no chance to win against the dramatic pictures/actors.

I'd love to see Johnny Depp win for best actor but I doubt it'll actually happen.

What's up with Lord of the Rings getting NO acting nominations??? It's nominated for best picture, best director but it didn't have great acting?! I didn't even see the movies but that just doesn't seem right.

I think Nicole Kidman should have been nominated~ even though she was beautiful throughout the film you can only do so much to try and ruin her she is just pretty. Plus she came from a hotie totie kind of family so of course she is going to look good. I think Tom Cruise should have been also even though I am not a real fan of his shows lately I think he put his heart and soul into this film.

I was dissappointed that Pirates of the Caribbean didn't get nominated for musical score. I absolutely LOVE the soundtrack, it's really incredible stuff.

I can't believe Sean Astin wasn't nominated. He was definetly overlooked. He put on a spectacular performance in the last film. What an oversight!

I'm sorry, I don't know what the Academy rules are, but Ellen Degeneres should have been nominated for her role as Dory in Finding Nemo and so should have Andy Serkis for his portrayal as Gollum in LOTR. Two more that were overlooked.

Sean Astin - he truly deserved it. (best supporting actor)

Absolutely Sean Astin. He was so amazing. And Jamie Lee Curtis is nothing short of delightful to watch in everything she does.

BTW, Ellen Degeneres COULD have been nominated - voice work would count in this area. Another oversight.

But try to think of it like this - out of thousands of performances, only five can be chosen. That's leaving out a whole bunch of really, really good performances, and some really great ones.

The buzz with everyone I know is about Sean Astin, how great he was and how he really deserved a nom. To tell you the truth, more people are talking about him than everyone else combined it that category! To be snuffed by the Oscars, well, that stinks. I think it may actually work in his favor. At least, I hope so. I saw or read an interview where he said he's up to his ears in scripts. Good. I've loved him since The Goonies!!!

Russell Crowe should have been nominated for Best Actor for Master and Commander, he did a great job.
I think what hurt LOTR for individual honors is that everyone was a supporting actor and no one person had alot bigger role than the next guy/gal.

Jennifer Connelly: House of Sand and Fog

Sean Astin and Andy Serkis: ROTK

Paul Bettany: Master and Commander

I am so in love with Freaky Friday. Jamie Lee Curtis would have been a great nomination. I'm also a strong supporter of anything involving Seabiscuit. I didn't think I'd like it, but by the end I was SO wrapped up in the film. Definately Oscar worthy. And of course there's always Pirates. :)

Through the years I have seen so many wonderful performances overlooked by the Academy....they always seem to steer towards the more "artsy" films...not that I don't like those movies, but there are so many movies each year to consider...I was SHOCKED and DELIGHTED to see Johnny Depp get the nom for PoC....he was OUTSTANDING!

I agree with Sean Astin....funny thing that a movie can get a nom for best director and best movie but the actors are not recognized....hmmm.....

And while I do love Diane Keaton and did see Somethings Gotta Give, I was surprised with her nom......

We will see the outcome soon....and again there will be man outstanding performances that go unrecognized......

Add my surprise that Sean Astin wasn't nominated to the list. As much as I liked Ken Watanabe in The Last Samurai (my pick of the nominees to win best supporting actor), Sean's portrayal of Sam in LOTR was wonderful and spectacular.
