The FART tax :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

$175 per dairy cow
$ 80 per beef cow
$ 20 per pig

Sad part of it is research shows if you change their diet methane is significantly reduced.

Someone wondered if there will be an exemption is a converter is put on both ends of the animal.:rotfl:

Strange thread. Something tells me that it will fall victim of 'no political threads' in due course.

Actually, they burp the methane, not fart it. :thumbsup2

I just heard this morning that Stonyfield Farm is doing a pilot program with some of their farms, substituting flax and alfalfa for some of the corn and soy in the cows' diets. It helps cut down on methane production, and costs less. Sounds like a win-win to me, unless it makes the milk taste funny!

Manning, this is a tax that will get the cows both coming and going. The methane "problem" isn't just related to the "normal" flatulence that we think of but also to eructations. (burping). I think that in order to assess the cows properly, there needs to be a meter at both ends. ;)

I was watching the Discovery channel recently. Forget which show but it was stated that plants and trees actually give off more methane than animals.

Just putting it out there in case they decide to tax my family....

I've never understood how paying a tax makes it better for the environment...it is still happening, but now someone makes money off of it, so it is now okay. How does this fix the problem? To be honest, it seems ludicrous to assume that the problem lies with a natural function of a living animal, rather than some process that we have artificially created.

Okay, I'm done now, I'm stepping away from my soapbox. Boy, will I feel stupid if this is a joke.

Stonyfield Farm, that's the name I couldn't come up with.

The person who can invent this will be rich.....a Fart/burp-O-meter :rolleyes1
