Now I'm worried...

I am getting worried when I read about the way people are being treated by some of the resorts. We are going in Dec. on a code rate to POFQ and YC. Are we going to be put in the bowels of the resort? We have been there 5 times before paying full price or DC rates for each. Last time we had to spend 259 per night at WL over Thanksgiving each for 2 rooms. We did it for 2 nights because we really wanted to be there then.

I have been over my anniversary 3 times and this trip is also over our anniversary. We have only ever once gotten a free desert, at Artist Point. No special things have ever been done for us in any way. We never have been upgraded and we still have had a great time.

I hope there is not a new attitude at the resorts to treat people poorly if they are smart enough to find a code Disney puts out to get people to come when their attendence is low. That would seem like cutting off your nose to spite your face, wouldn't it?

Anyway, I figure we will have a good time but heaven help anyone who tries to tell me we have to put up with substandard services because we are on a discounted rate.

With the exception of our first onsite stay we have always used a discounted rate at the resorts and always had very wonderful experiences. All but at the Contemporary and that had noting to do with our rate. Everyone has always been nice and helpful. If we didnt like where our room was when we got there they were always more than willing to talk with the room assigner and try to accommodate us. I have never once had a CM mention our rate or treat us poorly because of our rate. The ONLY time a rate was ever mentioned was when I called the contemporary prior to our getting there to request a certain area of the resort due to my fibromyalgia. But that was before we got there and had no impact on what happened after we got there.

We have never recieved a complementary upgrade but never expected one. We have never celebrated a special occasion there so we never had occassion for them to do anything special. Hoping that this time at the Poly they will do something for my 40th birthday but Im not expecting it. If they do it will be nice. If they dont then thats okay too. My specialness is in the trip and in staying at the Poly Concierge which was my birthday present.

I can't speak for any of the other resorts, but we just returned from WL and the CM's were super nice. We also had a code rate and even got upgraded when we arrived. I wouldn't worry, Disney is still full of MAGIC!!!!!!

We have always been treated nicely at Disney whether or not we use a code or whether or not we stay at a moderate or deluxe. Maybe attitude is everything. We're pretty easy going and realize nobody is perfect. :D

We went last December on a greatly discounted code at the Wilderness Lodge. We were treated great! In fact, we got a free upgrade to a courtyard view when we had only paid for and reserved a standard view. We didn't even ask. They just did it for us at check-in! I also got a wonderful chocolate goodie basket and a card from Mickey on my birthday - also free and with no prompting from us. The CM at the front desk just noticed my birthday button when we were taking the WL tour that morning, and when we came home from the parks that evening, the birthday surprise was waiting for me! I also got a free birthday cake (not a cupcake, a whole cake) after our dinner at Artist Point because our server noticed my birthday button. Our maid left special things in our room every day - towel animals, etc. One morning there was a problem with the boats to the MK and I just happened to mention that we were afraid we might miss our Cindy's reservation if we had to wait for the boat much longer. The CM at the boat dock called the front desk and they arranged for another CM to personally drive us to the MK in the WL van! We just had tons of magic on that trip - most of it created by the staff at the Wilderness Lodge.

I think that was probably the deepest discount we have ever had on a room, and it was also the best we have ever been treated at a resort! :D

When we went to the Poly we paid rack rate (around $300/night for a "garden view") and had the worst service I've ever had at WDW. On the other hand, we just got back from AKL on a very cheap code ($129/night) and were upgraded to a wonderful pool and svannah view room, and had great CM interaction everywhere we went. In fact, the CM at check-in was so fabulous, I went out and bought him a big box of chocolates!

So magic can be anywhere, and you don't always get what you pay for at WDW.
