Call me crazy but he thought of lovebugs on our trip really has me bummed. I hate bugs esp ones that buzz all over you. My kids don't like them either and my Dh can't stand when we scream over a bug being near us. I was so happy to be going to the Poly this trip and now lovebugs are putting a damper on it. Tomorrow I'm going to the Dollar store for ponchos since I can't find ours.If you see a woman and 2 kids wearing ponchos on a sunny day, it's me.

Buy some of those bug repellant wipes while you're at the store.

They work on mosquitos too, so it's like two things in one.

Don't let the lovebugs ruin your vacation. Sure, they're annoying but they're annoying simply because there's so many. A few lovebugs aren't that bad. They may be cleared out for the most part when you get down there. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :thumbsup2

EWWW! BUGS! I really hate bugs too but sometimes you just have to deal with it! at least they don't bite from what I've heard. I will be bringing a giant BUG SWATTER with me, COUNT ON IT! :thumbsup2 Yo Ho! pirate: pirate: Helen

The lovebugs have already started to disapate. By the end of next week I expect they will be gone. This is the heaviest they have been since all the hurricanes came through. They are just like lightning bugs or fireflies but without the glow. They won't hurt you, they don't bite or sting. They are small and they may land on you but brush off easily. With all the splats on the windshields around here I honestly don't know how any are left!

I saw a giant RV this weekend with Fla tags. It must have just drove straight down I-10 all the way from Jacksonville. It was COVERED with bug bodies. That poor SOB was going to be scrubbing for a while.

My car hardly had a love bug from the drive to and from MK on Friday afternoon/evening - I was very surprised. Only one that bothered me all day was flying around while I was pumping gas!

They really are not as bad as last week - sitting in car line for DD at school last week - they were all over the car, but today, I hardly noticed any.

Like someone said - no more than a lightening bug without the light - that is exactly how DD and I were describing them the other day (DD9 - who by the way LOVES them!)

Do not let them ruin your vacation!

Love bugs are a problem at the beginning of the school year and at the end of the school year. The problem will be over very soon.

I drove to Disney on Sunday. They got my window and front grate all splattered.

They don't buzz or bite or sting....just fly around. Nothing to be afraid of. And they are starting to go away. :)

There's something hilarious about your name involving bugs, and you freaking out about bugs. :) Seriously though, don't let them ruin your trip! They'll be busy um... doing their thing, and you can be busy doing yours!

As others have said, they are starting to be gone, so they should not be as bad. We were there last week during the height of the lovebug invasion.

They are not harmful, just annoying. I had heard they are more attracted to bright white and yellow, and would have to agree. They landed more on my bright white sneakers than anything else. We also never had any land on my son's dark blue stroller. They also seemed to be attracted to the benches and poles at the BWV, which are all white, but I hardly saw any on the boardwalk itself or on the dark green benches.

So I would recommend wearing darker colors....definitely NOT a bright yellow poncho. :thumbsup2

They kind of gross me out, too, they are ugly little suckers, and the thought of them "loving" on me kind of grossed me out, too. But you can just smack them away or brush them off and they go on their merry little lovebug way. :teeth:

I was at Epcot and the MK on Friday and I don't recall seeing more than a few lovebugs and when I mean few, I mean like probably less than 5 "pairs" :)

By the time you get here, in 3 days, they won't be a problem. Relax and say hi to Mickey for me!

I was there this Thursday 9/21 and they were everywhere. It can be very annoying to people that can't STAND to have bugs touch them like myself. By Saturday, they had pretty much started to go away. You would see a few here and there. But nothing like they were during the beginning of the week. I wouldn't worry a bit about the bugs. I kinda felt bad killing a few of them because they weren't hurting me at all. But with the heat, sweat and the fact that they kept touching me, I wanted the other little love bugs to smell the dead lovebug "cologne" and consider it a warning. Not sure if that worked, it may have backfired!! (Lovebugs do love each other!) Oh Well, have lots of fun. And don't do like I did, love the LOVEBUGS!
