Now I know why I hate Super Walmarts

I have a great Super Wallyworld! We have 4 express on each end of store ...PLUS...4 self-check-outs at each end(i LOVE these-I'm in and out in minutes with self-check out)...we never have more than 3 in a line ...except from Sat 11 am-2pm-that's the time to avoid the store. :D

Ok, I'm gonna sound like one of those WalMart SuperCenter commercials where the woman with the high pitched voice goes on and on and ya just wanna smack er to shut er up....But..... I love WalMart SuperCenter. I can get everything I need at one stop, the grocery prices are better that the grocery stores, oh, the list goes on..

We have a brand new one about 5 miles from us and I am in there at least once a week, maybe 2 or 3...I have never encountered a slow check out lane..although I often use the self checkouts that can give you a hard time some times. (Especially when you have something to put in the bag that doesn't weigh much, as stated earlier, the computer knows the weight of everything, so it knows if an item is in the bag when it hasn't been scanned-and vice versa.) I honestly can't come up with anything bad about this particular WalMart..:)

I love Target, they are building a new one close to me...Could it possibly be a SUPER TARGET??? I may just faint..
:faint:

I'm probably not the norm on this thread, but I really love Super Walmart! I live an hour from a decent grocery store and after driving all that way with 3 kids to do my shopping, it's nice and convenient for it to be in one place. And, let's just say I'm the queen of price-matching! Gotta love a store that will accept another's advertised prices. I think it does save me money. I shop from a list, price match, and use coupons. If we have other shopping to do from the discount side, then we do that first and only go after the things we are there for.

The one thing that I DO NOT LIKE is the spinning bag holders at the ends of the wrap stands. Grrrrrrrr. It is so easy to leave a bag behind.

All that said, you know when you see me because I'm usually the one leaving the store with at least 2 heaping carts!

I hate Wal-Mart. We have a Wal-Mart not a minute from our house. We will drive ten minutes to get to a grocery store than go to the Wal-Mart because it is faster. There are always lines. You always have to wait. Always. Around here, Wal-Mart doesn't mean better prices, it just means cheaper quality items. And, Wal-Mart never seems like a happy place. Every once in awhile you meet a friendly worker, but for the most part, they are rude, unhappy people, and uneducated. If anyone works at Wal-Mart, I'm not talking about you because I'm sure you have never checked me out before. I'm saying for the most part. It's just a whole different world than Target. Target I love.

There is a comedian that talks about Wal-Mart and how it must be the place where people take their kids to beat them. He says everytime he's there he sees someone spanking their kids. I had my kids at Target the other day, and they were fighting with each other. I told them, "Girls. We are at Target, not Wal-Mart. At Target we behave." And, it was funny, because they did.

The whole issue of Wal-Mart just irritates the heck out of me. I don't understand why people think it's so great. When you live in a small town and Wal-Mart is all you have, I think that a discount store like Wal-Mart that carries bedding, toiletries, clothes, etc. is a great thing. But, I really hate to go into a town that has put up a super center, and then you drive through town and see the bakery they put out of business or whatever they've put out of business. I think it's very very sad that they are allowed to ruin communities they way they do.

Since Target came to town I have not set foot in a Wal-Mart. All the Wal-Marts here are dirty & disorganized. And, Super Wal-Marts are just too freakin huge

Our "little" Wal-Mart wants to relocate a little down the road and become a Super. Nearby homeowners (upscale) don't want them WAL-Mart had petitions to sign in the store. The ladies thought I was crazy 'cause I didn't sign it and said I'm happy with our little store. I don't like the hassle of a Super Wal-Mart.

Like it because--
--can get everything in one place (this is so helpful when having to shop with 2 kids in tow)
--good prices on most items
--convenient locations

Don't like it because--
--closest one is dirty and unorganized; has rude, surly, unhelpful, uneducated employees that could care less about their jobs or customers; wait times in line is usually 20-40 minutes!

--next closest one keeps all their two-child carts outside on the far end of the building where you can't see them; you go all the way down to get one...sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not; you ask for help finding one and get a slack-jawed, mouth-breather saying "huh? what you need? I can't do that. I gotta hand out stickers." I *wish* we had some of the cute old people they have in the commercials, but not at our store....Oh, and the child carts are the ONLY carts not brought in during a rain storm....they have 5 columns of buggies in the corrall but refuse to put the child carts in a column so they sit outside and get full of water....and the doorkeeper then gets upset when you ask to use his towel to dry them (even though that's why he's got the towel!!)

--they do tend to drive the small business owner out of business :(

We're getting a Super Center Wal-Mart within the year. We have a itty-bitty Wal-Mart that does well, but I can't wait for the new one. It's even a mile closer to our house! It's being built in a location where a large industry went out of business about two years ago so there's been very little whining about where there building it. It's also going to put a real squeeze on a local chain of grocery stores that have the closest thing to a monopoly as is legally possible.

We just spent a week in the Williamsburg, Virginia area. We stopped at their SCWM. From what I've been told, this one is about a year and a half old and it was spotless! VERY clean and well stocked and organized. For those of you with the "filthy" stores, I'd blame the store managers. I don't see it being a "Wal-Mart" thing as much as lousey management at the individual store level.

Maybe my walmart is different. If the store was that disorganized, dirty, understaffed and the workers rude, I'd definitely call 1-800-Wal-Mart! Ours is clean. Ours is well organized and usually well stocked unless it's a holiday or some unusual event. Although there have been very rare times I have waited maybe 15 minutes, I don't think I have ever waited longer than that. I do go in with a critical eye because in my past life i was a district manager in retailing. Anyway, if your store experience is negative, you should really call the number and let them know. It can only improve, right?? 1-800-wal-mart. That's what it's there for.

Surly, rude workers can be found at other stores too! It is rare that I get a cashier that actually speaks to me anymore. I am always shocked when they do.

I am a Wal-Mart lover. Can't help it. I live just south of Richmond and the majority of stores in the Richmond area are clean. K-Mart is always filthy though. And I love Target too.

I'll stick with my Super Walmart here since they are saving me 25% on my prescriptions. Just the insulin is 50% cheaper than Target and Walgeens. Ours does have conveyor belts btw.
