...to that all important question, "How crowded is it on New Year's Day?".

The answer is- Not as crowded as Jan. 2. :rotfl:

My sister and I went first thing on Jan. 1 and we went straight to the HM because I wanted to see the Nightmare version. We went on the elevator with only one other family. We then walked through the new castle area, and then hopped right on Small World to see that. We did those things in less than an hour.

We went over to DCA just after 10 and Toy Story was closed. :sad2: But we got on Screamin without too long of a wait and also walked through the bulding that shows the DCA changes, among other things.

We left at 1:45 and it was just starting to get more crowded and the lines to buy tickets at the ticket booth was just crazy so I think as the day went, it probably got really busy. But the morning was very nice!

On Jan. 2 I went with my DH and two DS15's and sister and BIL. We got there early but it was a MM on Friday instead of the Thurs. It was already more crowded than the day before at that time. When we hopped over to DCA there was a sea of people in the big area between the parks. It turns out they were all buying tickets! :scared1:

Even the Blue Sky DCA preview had a line waiting to go in! By afternoon it was crazy. All lines were long and fast passes for things we like were gone. We had one for HM at 7pm. So after going on that we left. It was getting hard to move around the park, so we waited for 7pm at the Hungry Bear (not crowded). Just as we were on Main Street leaving it started to "snow". So that was very cool.

Speaking of cool, the weather was beautiful low 70's on Jan 1 and freezing cold all day Jan.2.

Anyway, that is my crowd report. If I went again during that time, I'd just go for mornings and leave early afternoon. I had a great time though and can't wait to go back in June when it is less crowded! :)

Oh yeah, and the line for the bank to get APs was at least an hour long, probably more. I wanted to add parking to mine, but both days it was not worth the wait.

That's weird! Maybe because people think "Oh, it's going to be crowded today since it's New Years Day, but I bet it won't be crowded tomorrow because people have to go to work so let's go tomorrow!"

Glad you had a good time though!!!!

Or everyone was up late on NYE and sleeping in. I'm sure evening was just as crowded, but the morning was nice!

I agree! We were there several days over the last 2 weeks and we were hoping the 2nd would be a little less crowded but it was packed! And COLD! We only stayed until early afternoon (we had planned to stay for fireworks). I was really surprised the whole time we were there how crowded the lines were to buy tickets - several mornings when we came in the lines were forever long.

From your report, I guess I should have went on New Years Day.. I went New Years Eve

As for the 2nd, I was surprised at the lines to buy tickets throughout the day too! Even the security check (around 1) was crazy. I was just trying to leave and it was hard to get through all the people trying to get in.

just returned from 3 days in the Parks. We found DL to be crowded but no overwhelmingly... we were there tues. 12/30 and thurs. 12/30. With the exception of a 30 minute wait for Peter Pan, we used our fast passes & never waited more than 20 minutes for a ride. I had used Ridemax to plan the trip and we got to the park around 9 each morning. I fuond most of the waits to be even shorter than Ridemax predicted. We did not however see the parades or fantasmic. We stayed at the Sheraton Park so we watched the fireworks from our balcony on tuesday night. The other nights it was too foggy to see anything. On NYE, we went to DCA and it was empty!!. We were able to ride Soarin', Grizzly River Rapids, and TSM twice as well as TOT and all the Paradise Pier Rides (except Screamin and Maliboomer - kids were to scared) and do Animation, Muppets, and Bug's Life - all before 6:30 pm! We loved both the DCA parades too! Lots of people arned us about how crazy the Parks would be but it really was not bad -- I'd do it again in a second!!

There's a sentence you don't see too often, given June's crowds. hehe

Glad you had a good time!

No kidding! We were there last July and it was nothing like this. We were surprised to have to wait in line to get back into the parks after opening. This summer we walked up to the gate at both parks and went right in.

Whitewater Snacks was busier than in the summer, but we were able to find a table after a few minutes at noon time. So, it still gets my vote as a quiet place to take a break.
