You guys were so helpful with snack suggestions for things to eat in and around the parks. So now I'm coming to you for your meal ideas. Where do you like to eat and is there anything you cannot miss?

I've been looking at some of the food pics and I think I've already gained weight in anticipation!

Thanks for all the help!

Our must do every trip is Cafe Orleans! We share the three cheese monte cristo and pomme frittes! YUMO!!!!

We also like Rancho Del Zocalo, Carnation Cafe and Plaza Inn at DL.

In DCA we enjoy Wine Country Trattoria and Pacific Wharf Cafe.

In DTD we like to eat at Jazz Kitchen and Tortilla Joes.

My fam could live in New Orleans Square! Blue Bayou is the best- and most expensive admittedly so check the menu ahead of time if watching a budget. Blue Bayou is inside Pirates of the Caribbean, making it very unique in atmosphere and the food has been excellent the last couple times we went. We eat at Cafe Orleans every trip since discovering it, the Monte Cristo is great (same as the one at Blue Bayou with slightly different sides and noticeably cheaper price FYI) and we love the crepes! And to complete the New Orleans culinary tour if you need to grab something fast at counter service they have the French Market. (I'm hungry just thinking about all of it and I just got done stuffing myself with a big lunch lol!)

The stand out food for me on my last trip was

Cove Bar - Quesadilla Rolls and Sliders ( plus a cocktail or 3 )

Carnation Cafe - Sourdough melt and baked potato soup

Cafe Orleans was a bit of a disappointment this time around. Blue Bayou was nice but not as spectacular as I recall from previous trips. I normally love Bengal BBQ but found the meat to be stringy and tough :(

My family's favorites include:
  • Cafe Orleans (TS, lunch or dinner)* - the gumbo and pomme frites are my favorites. They also have the Monte Cristo sandwich.
  • Carnation Cafe (TS, lunch or dinner)* - the deep fried pickles, loaded baked potato soup, and meatloaf are very good.
  • Storytellers (TS, lunch or dinner) - the corn chowder is my favorite, along with the salmon.
  • PCH Grill (TS, dinner) - it's a buffet; the chorizo and clams is my favorite entree
  • Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen (TS, lunch or dinner)* - the shrimp and grits are outstanding
  • Carthay Circle Lounge (TS-ish, lunch or dinner) - the lobster pad thai roll is very good
  • Plaza Inn (CS, lunch or dinner) - the fried chicken meal is one of the popular dishes here on the Disboard
  • French Market (CS, lunch or dinner) - lots of excellent choices, especially the salads
*These locations feature both indoor and outdoor seating. When it is raining, they are restricted to the indoor seating in which case, the wait times tend to be fairly length (even with a reservation) and they may not accept walk-ups because they are short on tables to start with. Just something to keep in mind for February, when rain is possible/likely.

We love Blue Bayou and are probably going there during our March trip. We sat right by the water which I think helps make it special! I loved the chicken dish there. DH got monte cristo (which he could only eat half of) and the kids had either salmon or chicken. The meals come with so much food! We also enjoy Rancho del Zocalo, Flo's V8 cafe, and Cafe Orleans (but we will either do Blue Bayou or Cafe Orleans, not both, since they're so similar). We mostly ate on the Disneyland side last trip...hoping to try another DCA restaurant like Pacific Wharf. And everyone recommends the fried chicken dinner at Plaza Inn but I can't stand fried chicken, so that doesn't work for us.

Café Orleans, Rancho del Zocalo, and Hungry Bear are probably my favorites in DL. Large portions of good food that can easily be split at decent prices at all three!

In DCA I'm a big fan of the Mexican restaurant in Pacific Wharf (can never remember it's name but the tamale plate is delish!), Flo's Café has good breakfast but haven't eaten there for other meals. Carthay Circle is also excellent. If you're already planning to see WOC I recommend doing the WOC lunch package at Carthay instead of dinner. You'll save about $15-20 per person that way and still get to enjoy the delicious food there.
