Nowhere near the problems that Florida had, though, but she's still acting up...

My sister called me at 4AM to tell me she had NO electricity! The wind and rain ourside my door sounded like someone was slamming my home specifically with rocks!

Luckily my home is in the same area as FEMA, the IRS and the CDC... we NEVER lose electricity! :teeth:

Now we just heard the schools are closed! No surprise, they close the schools for anything here.

What kills me is they cloed the schools AFTER the school busses LEFT! Michael wasn't affected because I drive him in but that's going to be a big shock to a bunch of parents! Thank goodness my sister works nights so she can watch my child but I'm sure that there are going to be LOTS of parents who don't have that choice. :(

Oh, well, it's going to be a looooooong day!

yeah, we've gotten some big winds up here in Marietta. A tree broke in half outside our window, glad the wind didn't carry it into the house!

::yes::

I woke up around 3AM to really loud winds. I was afraid to even go look out the window. So far we made it through okay without any downed trees. Whew! Our schools are closed here, too, but it's because many of our schools do not have power this morning. My daughter just woke up in a panic that I forgot to wake her up! :teeth:

We have school here in our area. It is raining and very windy. The lights have flickered a few times.

I thought the schools were closed because of having no power in some areas.

I feel so blessed to have escaped any problems at our apartment. We still have power (at least we did when I left this morning), and there are no large trees down--just debris on the ground. Gosh, I didn't think that the meteorologists thought it would be this strong in the Atlanta area.

True, but my son's school HAD lights while my friend's son's school in Gwinnett did not and they sat in the cafeteria in the dark! :confused:

Our school closed due to lack of electricity.

We had school, though my son was late this morning since the power was out and Mom is a good sleeper. We have one pine tree down in our yard, but no real damage.

DDs had school today but we had no electricity here at the house until around 3:00. Even the phones were out. I work from home so today was a total waste for me as there is absolutely nothing I can do without power or telephone service. Well, ok, not a complete waste because once I realized we weren't getting power anytime soon I picked DD up from the sitter's and we spent the day playing games. :D

DSs had no school due to lack of electricity. As room mom for my 3rd grader, I had to call the parents in his class to tell them we had no school. I talked to a few unhappy parents this morning who couldn't understand why the kids couldn't go to school anyway.:confused:
