November travelers would you add waterparks?

We are traveling for the first time during November. We typically go in sept/oct and it's pretty hot then so we've hit the water parks a few times during those trips, but not every trip.

This brings me to my question- we are going the full week before thanksgiving. We will be leaving the Saturday before thanksgiving. Do you think it's warm enough to want to do a waterpark? Or should we save our money and just plan for a pool day at our hotel instead?

TIA :)

We were there that same week this past year. I think it really depends on what part of the country you're coming from. We're from Georgia so it wasn't warm enough for the water parks or the pools to us. We wore jeans and t-shirts all week. There were some people in the pools and I guess a couple of days we probably could have stood the water, but didn't try it.

It really depends. It can be in the 90s in November. It can also be in the 50s.

We went in November 2012 and only went swimming once during the week. It was too cold for us and we're from maine. It was an unusually cold November though.

I'd suggest waiting to add the water park option until you get there, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can do that. Then you'd know what the forecast is calling for.

You can decide once you are there and can add the WP option to your tickets while at WDW.

One more thing......................remember that the WP water is heated and that can make a difference in the comfort level.

I would not do it until you get there. We have been twice around Thanksgiving and both times we had one day where it was over 80. Its usually nice, but not very hot. Most days it was 75 and clear skies, but cool at night, in the 50s. We hit the hotel pool one day, but mostly just enjoyed the fabulous park weather. The Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week when we were there it was empty and we had a blast.

Thank you for the responses everyone. I'm going to take everyone's advice and wait to add water parks (if we even do) it sounds like we may be better off just settling with a possible low key day by the pool if were lucky, for the earlier half of a day. We're staying at AOA so I'm okay with that, the pools there have plenty going on for the kids. :)

I think that's a good idea. We were there once for Thanksgiving and it was way too cold to swim. My two younger boys jumped in the pool for about ten minutes just to do it, but it was not swimming weather at all! The water parks are even colder because you are constantly in and out of the water.

As a family who often goes in the summer, we've only done the water parks 3 times in the past 20 years. There's so much to do without needing to add them in!

Can you wait and add the WP option if you are using the Armed Forces Salute tickets?

I think waiting is a good idea. That's what we are doing for our Dec. trip this year. We went over ?Thanksgiving 2010 and dh and ds went to the water parks twice and loved it. They did not complain about cold at all. We were coming from a cool climate though.

It was to cool for us this past November. I would wait until you got there to see.

This advice is wonderful thanks guys! We will definitely wait now after reading these responses. I'm actually thinking of nixing the idea all together and just hope for some decent temps to relax by the pool and swim at the hotel instead. Excited to try this new time frame but worried since I don't know much about Disney in nov!

Until my oldest hit high school, we did the first full weekend in December for years and always managed at least one day in the waterparks. But I would wait and add it when you get there, I don't think it is hard to do at all.

You have to know your family. We went one day when it was in the 50's, we were one of three families in the park and I wish I got a picture of my DD and DH next to the lifeguards in winter coats.

Lol that's hysterical! That definitely would've been a picture for keepsake

We went the full week before Thanksgiving last year (and will be this year as well), and I would say no to the water park. There were only maybe 3 days during our week long trip where it was warm enough for us to swim - we think anything over 75 on a sunny day is swimming weather. The rest of the time, it was either cool, rainy, or overcast. The only complaint I have about that time of year is that the intermittent weather made it difficult to plan pool time. We only got to visit the pool once. So with that being said, the water parks would have been a waste. Plus only one water park is open that time of year.

any idea of estimated cost to upgrade passes to include WP's - we have park hoppers right now and I was debating adding the water park option for our trip 11/12-11/22.

TIA!:goodvibes

We are another family that was there last November but to counter the others, I think there was only one day that we wouldn't have used the waterparks. Must be that tough Canadian skin. :)

We were in Disney for the 2 weeks before (American) Thanksgiving and went to Blizzard Beach twice as well as Aquatica, plus the kids hit the pool most nights.

Two things to keep in mind are:

1) Typhoon Lagoon will be closed for rehab while you're there, so you'll only have the one waterpark to visit.

2) The option also gets you the two mini golf courses (which we considered a nice bonus) as well as Disneyquest which my two kids and I LOVED. My wife tolerated it as long as she could. ;)

Typhoon Lagoon is closed the whole month of November so that should make it a little easier not to add it on. We always go in Nov but never add on waterparks.
