November/December 2012?

.

It may be worth doing some research on your preferred location or locations within SSR and request a particular section (they each have names).

Good idea. The member you rented the points off is the one who needs to put in a request for the particular section.

Have just realised that we are going to be in USA for thanksgiving! For some reason I thought it was the week after we left! i know the parks are going to be busy then so have to rethink our park visit days....but on the upside...we are there for Black Friday!!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay:

Black Friday was a big selling point when we asked my parents to come:rotfl: We will be in NY for it - and I. CAN. NOT. WAIT!!

Quick poll - I was going to do the Mama Melrose Fantasmic package but I have been reconsidering using that TS credit for 50s prime time and just winging Fantasmic. Any thoughts?

Just booked The Crystal Palace and MVMCP:santa: tickets for the 15th:thumbsup2

Decided that rather than lunch at Crystal we would have an early dinner as a start to the MVMCP - so I have made a 4:30pm booking:woohoo::woohoo:

What time does the party start again? Is it 7pm? Do you have to leave the park and re-enter at 7pm?

I like the idea of having dinner organised at Crystal Palace.

If you do not have a ticket to the park for that day they may let you in after 4pm. The party starts at 7pm. You do not have to leave and re-enter. If you are in there on a day tickey you can stay there.

Thanks Colin. We have park hoppers for the whole stay so that won't be a problem.

How do they know who has a ticket and who doesn't for the party though? How do they know who to kick out?

Wristbands last time we went!

Ahhhh ok. So what happens if you are in the park earlier, do you have to go back to the gates at 7pm to get the wrist band?

The MK has stations where you can do it, there were plenty. Not necessary to go to the front gates.

The day we go to MVMCP is a scheduled MK day for us anyway but I plan on having a relaxed morning and then getting there at 2/3. Do a few things then have our early dinner at Crystal Palace before getting our wristbands and getting into party mood:santa: I just thought it would be nice way to start the night:thumbsup2

I only have 2 more ADRS to book - can do one tonight and then tomorrow night the big one - CRT:woohoo: Now that my reservation links up with the dining it has been so easy to book everything. I have changed my mind about a few things (added Liberty Tree Tavern and I have decided to definitely go with 50s Prime Time rather than Mama Melrose) which is so easy to do online.

Once I have all of my ADRs I will start a proper itinerary :cloud9: Loves me some planning:lovestruc

I can't wait to make my ADR's. Of course, I'd need to work out where we want to eat and what day :rotfl2:. I really need to do this over the next few weeks. I can make mine in exactly 1 month. Yayay. :cool1:.

I still have tons and tons to organise for the whole trip but it will be awesome to get moving on some things soon.

You can usually check in as early as 4pm for the parties :thumbsup2

SO EXCITING!:cool1: It really makes the trip seem like it's getting close once you can make your ADR's

Sounds like a great plan!

Great choice. We like Mama Melrose but we LOVE 50's Prime Time. It's such a fun meal with such a fun atmosphere! I love planning too

SSR would be better than a value resort and not much more on points. How many points for the time you stay and what value if you don't mind me asking.

The most popular time for DVC members to stay (if they can) is from December 1st to 15th (and even 23rd) as you get all the Christmas extras, good weather and the LOWEST points of the year.
Further, many members book at 11 months out when the booking window opens for the resort you own points at to secure a room.
Also, studios are typically the most popular as they are by far the lowest points and can accomodate singles, couples as well as families up to four adults. In addition, many two bedrooms are actually a studio and one bedroom so each of those two bedroom bookings takes out a studio.
Finally, SSR is by far the largest DVC resort so it is always the last to book out.

It may be worth doing some research on your preferred location or locations within SSR and request a particular section (they each have names).

Thanks for interest - I paid $12 per point and it averaged out at $163/night. For a studio that is roughly the same size as a deluxe I am very happy with the price. As you noted the first week of Dec is the most popular time of the year among DVC members and on the 7 month mark everything was already gone! The Moderates will have to have a decent sale to be cheaper.
I kinda wish I could of gotten a place closer or more iconic - but I am still very happy - and will have a hire car.

I have put in a bld request for Congress Park. But I am assuming that I cannot go as far as a bld number ... or should I?

Now - like you all - have to pick my MVMCP date and buy the tickets. Only a couple of weeks before my ADRs are open too - all too hard!

The MK has stations where you can do it, there were plenty. Not necessary to go to the front gates.

Ms Shuttergirl - last year I observed them being very thorough and enthusiastic about wristbands. Everyone coming in was stopped to have it put on - by a CM. They did have people all over the place in the parks and they actively shoo'd people out of the park if they didn't have a band - they were very on to it!

the Bands fortunately are printed in a cute christmassy design and is fun to wear!

Sugarglider - we are staying at SSR too, we needed something with 2 bedrooms (living area, kitchen and washer/dryer were a big bonus) that wasn't too expensive. Having never been there I have no real idea of how far away from everything it is but I am looking forward to the spread out quiet vibe people say it has.

Well all my ADRs are made! :dogdance: I had to get CRT for lunch on our last park day rather than dinner because when I put in dinner it kept saying their was an error and please check the time. So I went for lunch instead which I have now decided will be better. On that day the Main St Electrical Parade is scheduled to run at 9pm and Wishes at 10pm, I would love to go and watch them so if we go to CRT for lunch we can go back to the resort for a rest before heading back to MK for our last night.

I feel so relieved to have everything booked - and I got every restaurant we wanted at good times. Hope everytone elses ADRs are sprinkled with Pixie dust.

Congrats Dabecs! All done! (now just have to wait until time to go......)

A villa is a good choice for multiple bedrooms. off to SSR and the horsey theme!

Just booked our flights. Am so happy - we got flights to Orlando with Qantas and United for $1533 each!!! Just a few weeks ago I was quoted around $2,200 to go with Qantas. DH said 6 months out was the magic time period and he was right. So the trip is definitely going ahead now. So far we have our flights, accomodation for 14 nights at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek and our RCCL cruise booked. Need to get on with day to day planning so I can book any dining we require.

Hi Everyone...

I am feeling absolutely devastated at the moment... After 648 days of thinking, dreaming, planning and PAYING for our trip.. I think I have to cancel... Hubby has come home saying he is now retrenched from his job that he has been in for the last 16 years and I know that he won't have a problem getting another job but it's just the timing.... When he starts his new job there won't be any leave available. Every thing is so up in the air at present. I feel like I am in limbo. :confused3
