We intend on doing the dining plan but I didn't book it yet (mistake), so I sat on hold for 45 min and the lady said I should book/refund later, after I called DVC to book the dining package. The process took 2 hours! Later today I called DVC, she added the dining package (told me I should have done that BEFORE I booked my ADR's), and then she cancelled my original CRT and rebooked (5 min. difference from my original reservation). I'm tired from losing 2 hours of sleep in the middle of the night, but glad I got what I wanted.

Sorry you had so much trouble! I have made all our ADR, including HDDR (which I paid for in advance for w/cc), but haven't decided 100% on dining plan. It sounds like you are using DVC points so you should be able to book everything and, as long as you purchase DP within 48 of check-in, you are all set. I checked this out with 2 different CM and both said I could link the plan to my HDDR ADR-even at the restaurant, and they would refund the charge. And non pre-pay ADRs, don't HAVE TO be linked to DP at all! If we decide to buy DP, I will take care of HDDR before hand, but I thought it was good to know. (Please let me know if any of you have experiences that contradict this info???)

I did the same thing sort of, we will be getting the dining plan, we are just hoping they will come out with it for free, so I had to pay for CRT OOP this morning, over $500. If the dining plan is not free we will still get it anyway, hopefully they won't have to cancel my reservation to refund my $$$.

Per the previous posts...I bet Disney could credit without cancelling (they are Disney!), but on the phone, they had to cancel my original and rebook. I learned my lesson, though, book the DDP before I book ADR's...then there's no issue. The lady on the phone said, it would not have charged me if the DDP was on my reservation already...
