SillySully - We are thinking of doing the dubloon sail. We have 3 girls 5, 7, & 9.

CheeringMom - my daughter just turned 9, we'll have to get the girls together at the meet.

!
yeah, can't wait. Thanks KBennett

also, Mozart, when can you make reservations for the tastings? do you do this all on the 25th when things open up for newbies? and how about the tea? I may want to join VAgirl. Do i make a reservation on board?

VAgirl-what part of VA? I lived in Burke-NOVA for 5 years!!

Just to confirm - we are able to call at 12 midnight on August 10 for 90 day out ressies, correct? Thanks! Is anyone else planning the Dubloon Sail and Snorkel? We have 3 kids (11, 10 & 7) and were thinking of this excursion while in STT.

Hi! I also want to confirm this. So 12 midnight August 10 but since i'm in California, then for me it's Aug. 9th at 9pm?

That's correct for repeat cruisers. However, I noticed that someone refers to calling at that time? :confused3 You don't call for those, you have to do them online.

I currently live in Fredericksburg but I've lived in Arlington, Falls Church and Sterling. When did you move out of state??

You have to wait until you get onboard to book the tastings. Regarding the tea.. you can book it online but I thought maybe we could see who wanted to attend first and then maybe just book it onboard since there would be people from different rooms. I love doing tea and have them at my house for my friends from time to time. We also have a few tea rooms in old town Fredericksburg that are so much fun with a group of girls. Very relaxing and special.

I also noticed you have a DD that is around my daughters age. She will be 8 this month. We should make sure they have a chance to talk at the meet or maybe even before, if possible.

Talk with you soon.

Gretchen

Welcome aboard!!!! We have a nice big group of DISner's going on this Cruise~ it's going to be a blast!!!

Does anyone know how to make one of those Fish Extenders? I would love to the exchange, but don't know where to even to begin on how to make one.

I got a fish extender for our dd from Ebay for $6.95. Did not think I could beat that price. Dh made ours last year and just revised it for this year.

Momma Mia was a very good movie. Dh complained about Pierce Bronsen's singing. Being a music major, he is pickie about those things, but it was okay for me! We don't go to a lot of movies, so I enjoyed the evening!

We always have fun for Pirate Night. pirate: Dh never fails to surprise me as you can tell by this photo:

We just have to keep our fingers crossed that DCL does not have computer problems on Saturday night:surfweb: . That has been known to happen.

Welcome to TigerTink08 and VA Girl. This is going to be such a fun group and a great Dis Meet!:thumbsup2

just paid off cruise, now just waiting for Aug. 10th. I'm ready to get the suitcases out and start packing. YEAH ! ! ! ! ! !

Yeah I finally found the thread!! My fiance and I are booked on this cruise as well. It will be nice to see you all again. This is his first Disney Magic cruise. Faireygod mother and I got him into it with a short three day Wonder cruise. We'll see how he likes the longer cruise. If you are morning gym ppl then we shall see you then. So excited it will be our last family cruise for a while but it should prob be the best, since they always seem to get better.

Hey TigerTink08, welcome aboard. So glad you are both coming. I had a feeling it was you, but I had to confirm with 1DisneyQueen to be sure. It will be great seeing you both. :yay: It has been a while since I have seen you.
We are at the 92 day and 23 hour mark and I can't wait to board the ship. It has been 2 long years since I was on the Magic. Just can't wait to get there:banana: We will land around 4:17PM on Friday the 7th. Will you also be arriving on Friday?
Hey are you in for wine tasting while on board? I also hear there is suppose to be Margarita tasting, but I haven't confirmed that. If you are maybe we can sign up for it. Your aunt said she will pass. If you want to go with me let me know and we can sign up when we get on board. I do know I'll never get involved with the Martini tasting again. You, your Aunt and I all agree on that one. :scared1: See ya both soon.

So I saw a comment about something with St Maarten. Is there a plan for visiting this festival? It sounds like a great way to see the culture of the place. Are there anymore comments of the plans?

Haven't heard anything about plans, but I'll join you.

Hi, There
We'll be in full pirate attire for pirate night. In our experience on Magic for pirate night about a third of the people "dress up" beyond a bandana. Our pirate costumes double (with a little adjustment) for attire for our local renaissance fairs! I made most of the items for our family with "packability" in mind. While you will enjoy pirate night with our without a costume, it sure is fun to be in costume (and makes for GREAT photos with Captain Jack and the other pirate-dressed characters!)

We also will be dressed up. Your picture is great. Never thought about using renaissance clothes. My son is into that I have a gone to a couple of the fairs, they are so much fun.

Not everyone does dress up but our family does. We have a good time dressing up. I think us adults have more fun dressing up than some of the kids, but I don't care! I love pirate night and dressing up is what makes it the best!

Argh Argh me mate I agree with ya. pirate:

Hey everyone!!!!!

We are also on this magical cruise with you.:cheer2: It is me, my DH, DD8 and DS6.

I have been lurking around reading and thought it was about time I introduced myself and starting getting to know everyone so that we would be "welcome" at the meet. I've been reading through the pages but I can't seem to remember when the meet is??? We would love to get to know everyone.

My husband and I are going to do the wine tasting, beer tasting and martini tasting:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 . Would love to get together with some other people doing these tastings.:dance3: Any takers??? We did the wine and beer tastings on our last cruise and really enjoyed them.

We have done three other Disney cruises... one 4 day and two other 7 day Eastern ones. I never get tired of Disney... they are the best (IMHO) when it comes to family cruising.

So what else is going on... any other fun events we need to know about.

How about Palo tea...my husband and I did this last time but I think he would rather not this time. More of a girly thing... I get it!!! I wonder if a group of us girls could go? How would we arrange something like that, if anyone is interested? Am I being too forward with this... sorry if I am. I'm just a really social person and I love to have fun and meet new people.

Well, now that I have overwhelmed everyone, I think I'll end it here and wait for some responses.

Talk with you all soon.

Gretchen
I am thinking about the Wine Tasting also. I thought I read somewhere about a Margarita Tasting, but I can't find that. But I'm game for that one definately.

The tastings are offered more than once, although they may not be exactly the same thing. I think all the wine tastings are consistent, but as an example, there are at least 2 martini tastings. One of them will be for martinis made from gin, while the other tasting will use vodka martinis.

I have had some drinks, but I could not stand Martinis. I thought I would, but it was not a drink for me. This comes from a Scotch on the rocks person. I've had vodka gimlets and gin gimlets and still can't drink that martini. Wish I new what it was, but yuk yuk yuk...... Scotch is a drink that takes some getting used to, but the Martini just didn't do it for me. So that is one I know I won't go to. Anything else is a go! Set um up bar keep.....

just paid off cruise, now just waiting for Aug. 10th. I'm ready to get the suitcases out and start packing. YEAH ! ! ! ! ! !

Hey born2cruise I'm with ya. Paid off mine last week. We are committed now! Like you I'm ready to get the suitcases out. :cool1: :dance3:

Pixie Dust that is a great picture of the two of you. :thumbsup2 Yes I can see where your husband would have a problem with Pierce Brosnon singing. I can't even imagine him singing. My son are into music also and when we hear something bad it really hurts the ears.
My, oh my..... Pierce Brosnon singing? He's nice to look at and he not to bad of an actor, but singing, you said. Still can't picture it. :)

Well, all have a great rest of the week. I am going to try to keep up with things now. It is easier to read at 2AM than to let it pile up for days and then try to get into the conversation with everyone. I have read a few notes about a meeting for us all. I am in if there is someone organizing. I wish I could help with it, but 16 hour days just don't allow me the time. Our last cruise we met in a lounge around 4PM for about an hour. This way everyone could meet and then be able to go on deck for the sail away party. It was fun and we took pictures. Then a group of us got together at Parrot Cay for lunch one day while at sea. It was great at least at both meets the kids were there, not that I have any, but it gave the kids a chance to meet with each other also. Well let me run it is getting late and 5AM comes pretty quick. Again have a great week and happy clicking on DCL Website at the 90 day mark this weekend. :surfweb:

I have some catching up to do!!

Mimi'sGirl~~~We will be dressing up all 4 of us (If I ever get the costumes made). I was thinking that I had all of this time and now time is getting short. Pretty soon, school will be starting (Aug 20th for us).

TinkerTink08~~~:welcome: about St. Martin's day, I have not heard any details yet. Looking forward to finding out what might be going on.

VAGirl~~~:welcome:

CheeringMom~~~:welcome: I have a daughter that just turned 8 last month. I will send you a pm.

(Check out page 1 for details on the meet and greet and our FE gift exchange)

Skylynx~~~ LOVED THE COSTUMES!!

Time for sleep......

Hi All -

Skylynx- Great costumes!

It's great to hear that so many in our group will be dressing up. The kids picked costumes out online. I just need to wait for free shipping or some other perk. Unless I find some in the store.

Morgan4- Wow- Aug 20th. We start right after Labor Day. DD will be starting preschool and DS Kindergarten so I will have some time to finish getting stuff for the cruise. Right now I'm going between school shopping and cruise shopping. Best of luck with the costumes.

Cheeringmom- I will be with you on Aug. 25th. First time cruiser on DCL. We've been on two other cruises. I am so excited to try DCL.

PixieDust- What a great picture.

Hi All -

Cheeringmom- I will be with you on Aug. 25th. First time cruiser on DCL. We've been on two other cruises. I am so excited to try DCL.

.
We've done a Carnival but only a few days. Can't wait! and I still have no idea wheat excursions we will try and for what reservations....

PIXIDUST and SKYLYNX great costumes. I found a Johnny Depp shirt I will wear. Bot sure what else I will do. My dh refuses to even wear a pirate shirt. He will wear a Grumpy one on that night. He is not really anti Disney but b/c I am so obsessed he may be a little anti Dis!! hehehe

:cheer2: cmom

JUST PAID OFF OUR CRUISE...

About making pirate costumes affordable...we hit the JCPenney jewelry clearance racks several times pre-cruise and procured some of the ugliest costume jewelry ever made (but perfect for pirate plunder). Big ghastly fake jewels, clunky "gold" chains, hideous rings, all for a couple of dollars each. We store all the pirate plunder into a Ziploc and then fight over who gets to wear which ones each cruise. We also went to stores like Kohl's when they had their big 70% off clearances and got some really scary belts and sequined scarves that doubled as snazzy pirate sashes. One of my pirate blouses came from the clearance rack, too, for $2.00. Perhaps my favorite "find" was our boot toppers from a theatrical supply company that sells on eBay. They fold flat, but you can wear them over black shoes and they look like those fancy boots with the foldover, laced up tops and brass buttons! We did pay $20 for them, but wear them to the renaissance fairs, as well.

We also have some exciting news to share...last Saturday we went to the Doorway to Dreams (Disney Vacation Club store in Chicagoland) member event and we WON the grand prize giveaway...an all-expense-paid five day four night trip to WDW for four! Airfare, a one bedroom DVC villa for four nights, park tickets, one $75 gift card PER PERSON PER DAY for food and souvenirs (a lot of Dole Whips and turkey legs!), and even a $3400 check from Disney to pay for the taxes. We were just stunned, as we've never won anything except an umbrella and a Mr. Potato Head. We have one year from October to take the trip! Since we are taking this cruise without the kids, that helped take the sting out of it for them! (We did just take them on Wonder this June and are taking them on a cruise to Alaska next year.)

Looking forward to waking up at the crack of dawn with everyone else to book shore excursions and Palo!
