November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

Scott, we went to see the Disney Train on Tuesday when it came to Albany. It had exhibits from the show and then showed two outtakes from the movie. I NEVER do movies, but this one is going to be WONDERFUL. I am hoping it will be on the ship, since it opens the night before we sail.

I just realized they new Christmas Carol movie premiers 11/6. Hopefully they'll be showing it on the ship!

That would be great. My two little girls would love that.

I thought they always ran first run movies on the ship when they came out. But maybe I am confused. Our family is also excited to see that movie too. I heard about the train after it already came thru our town. Anyway just checking in. Have a great day!:thumbsup2

Aaaiiiyeeee! I logged on to the disneycruise website again tonight and pulled up our reservation and lo and behold it looks totally different from earlier today and I see our room - we got pixie dust! It's our first cruise and I was excited anyway, but we got a Cat 9 room on deck 2 instead of the Cat 12 GTY I booked! Yippee!:woohoo: Man, this stuff never happens to me. I had originally booked a Cat 11, then downgraded to a Cat 12 GTY when those became available to save some money so I'm feeling extra lucky.

And yes, I meant sweet. You've all been very welcoming and helpful to everyone here that I've seen on the boards. Now how I feel after the cruise we'll just have to see  ...just kidding (I'm pretty sure).

COngrats on the upgrade. We are excited too. A reminder for everyone please give me your room numbers so I can update the FE list.:flower3:

I'm feeling bummed. :sad1: We got our "upgrade" from a 12 to a 10, but neither DH or I feel like it is an upgrade. The only thing it gives us is a split bath, which we really don't care about. If we had older kids the split bath would be nice, but with DD2 it won't matter. I think the thing we are bummed about is that we are on deck 1. All of the reports I've read talk about hydraulic noise and banging on deck 1. We are cruising with my inlaws and we have really talked up DCL (they've only cruised Princess & Norwegian) and we're afraid they may not be happy with the room, especially if it is noisy. We also read that it takes forever to get elevators because when elevators going up are full, a lot of people ride down and then up, but we can't do that on deck one. Also, if we get off at port from the aft, we have to go up a floor to go down the aft stairs to get off. DH was saying he'd rather be in a cat 11 on a different deck than in a 10 on deck 1.

Maybe we were too hopeful that we'd get a cat 9. I've emailed my TA to find out if we can move, but most likely we'll have to pay for the category we want (too bad we can't just pay from a cat 10 to 9--we would have to pay from a cat 12 to a 9. We are happy that we get to be on the ship, but we feel guilty that we don't appreciate our upgrade. I think this is teaching me to book the category or room that I want in the future. We were just trying to save some money which is why we did the 12. The other 2 times we did a 12 gty we liked the rooms (an 11 on deck 5 and a 9 on deck 2).

I'm so excited to cruise, but this is leaving us a bit disappointed at the moment. Has anyone else experienced this?

Shauna, check your room number on this site. Hopefully someone who has stayed in your numbers will have posted a report.

I have had friends who love deck 1. Their room wasnt noisy. The crews quarters were in the noisiest areas. Maybe it wont be as bad as you think.

Please everyone send me your room number to put on the Cruise mates list too.:goodvibes

I am going to be home this weekend while Greg is gone so I should get most of my FE gifts done this weekend. I will cover the table with them so I can do several at a time and not have to move them until sunday evening.:goodvibes

Fall is finally coming next week we will be in the 60's and low n the 40's.

Yesterday when I went to the store I saw 1 doe and 2 fawns, then a little farther down the road I saw 2 doe and 1 fawn, then a bit farther was 1 doe and 1 fawn. I also saw a few on the way back.
I thought it was odd to see so many all on one trip.
I usually see 1 every other trip. 2 nights ago a large doe crossed at the end of the driveway here too.

Well time to get busy with :laundy: and my FE gifts.

Back around lunch,

Kathy

That's the problem. The reports of the cat 10 rooms near mine are what got me worried. Were your friends in the oceanviews or in the inside room?

Those of you who got a cat 9, congrats, you are lucky! I asked my TA how much to upgrade to a 9 and it is $920.

Krista,amanda.marissa 6502
Danielle,Hettie,Kendall,Gabbie 6503
Stephani,Eva,Kyle 6504

Nancy,Addie no room number given.

Sorry to just now reply I must have missed this post. Let me know if this info is not correct.

6503 is Stephani, Kyle & Eva
6504 is Danielle, Kendall, Hettie & Gabbi
2019 is Nancy and Addie

My room is correct. Thank goodness I looked on the Disney website to see that 6503 is only a 3 person room and they had four in it. Hopefully thats all the changes for us.

Have a great weekend!!!!

Krista:yay:

I hope that you are all doing well. Six weeks from today we will be in Florida! I can't believe that it is getting so close. While we have all been waiting what seems like forever - it will go quickly, it always does.

Nothing too new here. Next Saturday is wedding #2. Yep, there goes another milestone soon to be checked off that list of things that have to happen before we go.

We have been to a few of youngest DS's soccer games - thought I would bore you all with some pics.

Sorry Linda - those are the only two I have in photobucket.

Sokay, I noticed you posted (on one of my subscribed threads) for a sign for your kids - Unfortunately, that thread has been closed for a few months -the person's not doing them any more. I think she got a job or something.

Shauna, can you go back to a cat 12? $900 is a lot of money!

We're just going to stick with the 10 that is assigned to us for now. I was hoping it would only be a couple hundred to get an oceanview. There is no way that I'd pay an extra $900 considering that would pay for half of another cruise. We might ask at the port for upgrades and see if they are cheaper.

DH and I are trying to be happy about the upgrade. If DCL is selling the rooms as a cat 10, they can't be that bad right? If all the got was complaints they would do something about it. If it really is that bad, I'll be talking to them when we are onboard. My hope is that the noise doesn't bother us at all. And, a positive thing is that the inlaws are a connecting room, so if DD is sleeping we could open that door and have them listen for her while we go to the pool. There is a bright side to everything, right? I mean, hey, we are going to be on the Magic and that is all that matters.

I think it is time for another question of the day...
At the moment you read this question, what will you be doing in 6 weeks from now?

I'll be in EPCOT. :cool1:

We will be at CBR checking into our pirate room. Another surprise for Nathan. He is going to be so excited:yay:. We are having dinner at ohana that night and swimming in the pool to rest up for our big adventure for the next day!:woohoo:

Since we are at SSR we are just going to walk to DTD for the evening and eat at maybe The Earl of Sandwich. I have never eaten there so am really looking forward to it and a sundae maybe and the chocolate store (yeah, I remember the name but can't spell for beans).

I love the Earl of Sandwich! Yummy sandwiches and soups and their prices are good too.

Earl of sandwich is incredible. They have this hawaiian sandwich that is so cool with ham, pineapple and lots of other stuff. Such an awesome restaurant. Man, now I want to go to Downtown Disney, lol.

Looks like my choice is the right one! I wasn't looking to spend too much money - there are those DOTD things to contend with so I am happy your input is so positive. I say - bring it on!

We love the chocolate shop too. Its a lot of fun.

Earl of Sandwich! YUM! He gets my vote. I like the original and a glass of "Grey Lemonade"

I have never been to earl of a sandwich but it sounds like everyone loves it. I will have to try it.

Maybe we could go there insead of ohana. Want company? just joking.

So guys I am at home tonight in the new house alone. It's kinda scary. Tim is at the station and Nathan is with his dad. I know I will be ok. I will set the alarm but still a little scary.

So I went to kohls tonight and racked up. I got four shirts for Nathan, four for me. Two pair shorts for me. A pair of dockers for Tim and a shirt for Tim. All for 129.00 dollars.

We'll be at our hotel in Cocoa Beach taking it easy.

We're probably going to DTD after the cruise and sounds like Earl of Sandwich is the place to have lunch! But I'm still tempted to check out T Rex Cafe - has anyone been there? DD4 likes dinosaurs and T Rex is her favorite.
