November 3, 2012 - Election Escape Eastern!!

Hello,

I just noticed I did not have my room number on the list. It is room 9580.

I will send when the rest of the GTY rooms come in.

Thank you
Misty

Hi everyone! It's been a crazy busy summer (although I'm not sure exactly why :confused3) and I haven't been on here very much. My DH has been keeping an eye on the FB group, and has been letting me know of interesting things. I've never been very into FB, I'm more of a twitter person :)

DS just started 8th grade last week. This was a very late start for us - our school year usually starts near the middle of August, but his middle school is under construction and they shifted the school year for that. They started last year and it will continue through this year, but they have enough of the school functional to make it work.

Today was very, very, very slow at work - so I just read through all 74 pages of this thread! I finally feel like I've caught up :cool1: I actually took notes of things I wanted to comment on, so I'll probably be posting a bit over the next couple days.

I'm so sorry to have missed so many chats. We are going to be seeing the musical Grease this Friday, so unless it is possible to chat from my cellphone, I'll be missing this next one also. I will try really hard to make it to the 9/28 chat!

Hi there. I was so excited about our cruise for next year (Trans Atlantic.) That I forgot to subscribe to this thread when we booked in May. Then we found out we would be moving to Germany and life has gotten turned upside down. Anyway we are on this trip, myself Allissa 36, DH John 38, DS Tyler 9, DS Brandon 7 and DD Rylee 5. If we aren't too late please add us to the FE list. On our previous Disney cruise that was one of my kids favorite parts of the cruise, they loved coming back and finding surprises! Getting excited for this cruise! I know we are going to enjoy the cruise after all the stress of the next 2 months with packing and trying to learn all that we can about our new home country.

Hi! I think you are the only other family I've seen from Illinois :) We aren't too far from you - West Chicago - and my DH drives to West Dundee every day for work. Usually, my commute is easier as I only need to get to St. Charles, but with the construction around here it has become a little more equal ;)

I lived in Bolingbrook during high school. In fact, I remember beating the Dundee Scots in band competition for the State Championship! ;)
I won't say what year that was.....:p

I sent the current fe list to everybody. If you did not get a copy please let me know. There were a lot of changes so please look it over closely and disregard the prior list.

I still need information from the following people

Hi Misty,

Hope everyone is well and excited! we are still GTY
I read some have already gotten their assignments, can't wait to know our room #. I shall post asap once I receive it! :flower3:

I have been doing the FE list for folks on the Oct 13th cruise. Of the ones that are GTY (there were about 10 that were GTY) there are 3 left that still haven't gotten their cabins yet. Last weekends a few got theirs. This weekend a few got theirs and some even got their documents. I hope this gives you a little hope. They may be slow but they will get 'r done :thumbsup2

We traveled with one of your fellow October 13 Cruise mates Kelly (renysmom) and tried to talk her into switching over to this cruise to sail with the other four families that sailed with all of us on our Novemember of 2009 cruise.

As I read through the thread yesterday, I came across a number "question of the week" ideas. Since I missed those, I'm going to answer a few of them now :)

What are you looking forward to on this cruise?

I'm looking forward to exploring the new ship - ALL our previous cruises were on the Magic - Just discovering everything new will be fun.

My son (13yo) is looking forward to the Aquaduck.

No work from DH, but my guess is he is looking forward to doing exactly the same as always on a cruise - relaxing on the veranda & taking naps!

Other than Disney, where do you like to vacation?

We certainly do our share of Disney trips, but we also have a family cabin in the northwoods of Wisconsin that we like to visit in the summer.

Our son travels extensively with my parents. They take him with them when they travel in the summer or during school breaks. He is far more well traveled than either DH or I! Some of the highlights are Egypt, China, Greece & Paris. He has visited 5 separate continents - only missing Australia & Antarctica!

Even though I am not on that cruise anymore - since I started the 1st post and the FE list - I opted to keep up the info for them. There are 3 FE lists with 21 on each of them. and some wanted to be on all 3 lists, some wanted to be on just 2 lists.

I didn't see (renysmom) on the FE list or having posted that she is going.

As you know my Granddaughter and I are in one cabin and my Daughter is with a friend in another cabin on this cruise. BTW - I did answer your PM.

Steve - she's on the October 20th cruise ... 2 weeks before us.

Wow!!! I wanna go with your son and parents!!! LOL! Those are wonderful experiences for him.

Wow... he is one lucky boy!!! Well when your parents and your son finally get here to visit us in Australia, we would be only too happy to show them around our beautiful country........:):cool1:

ntheory - He is very lucky, but it is a little sad to be horribly jealous of your own kid! :confused3 ;) We have a family business where it is impossible for both my Dad and I to be gone at the same time, so I never get to go on these trips!

Jacintabelle - I really want to visit your beautiful country so I am hoping that I'll be the one traveling with DS when he finally gets there! Australia is on my "short list" of places I want to visit :)

To continue with the "questions of the week" that I missed earlier...

Favorite Disney Memory:

That is really hard! My first visit to the MK was when I was 7 in January 1972 and I have been to WDW at least 50 times since then. Add in 3 visits to DL & 5 Disney cruises and that is a LOT of Disney memories! :cool1:

One standout was at Chef Mickey's on my son's 1st birthday. It was his 3rd visit (Yes, we are insane - 1st was at 6 weeks, 2nd at 6 months) and it was the first time he was noticing the characters. As the first couple came around, he was interested but clearly wary of getting too close. The characters were really good about standing back a little and waving, pointing, playing peak-a-boo and he seemed to be having fun. Then he saw Minnie coming toward our table. He jumped off my lap and ran toward her. Minnie saw him staggering toward her and got down on her knees and he ran straight into her arms and hugged her. DH said it looked just like a Disney commercial :rotfl2:

Favorite Disney Song

Wow, another hard one! This can vary based on my mood. I love almost everything from Mary Poppins. I'm also very fond of Once Upon a Dream. Under the Sea is another one.

DS loves Brer Rabbit, so some of his favorites include Zip-a-dee-do-dah and Laughing Place. He plays the fiddle and often chooses Disney songs for that. He often plays the theme from the Main Street Electrical Parade (Baroque Hoedown) and Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow from the Carousel of Progress.

I'm not sure about DH - he tends to like the villains so maybe Cruella de Ville...

Eight weeks from right now we should be at sea. That sounds like a wonderful concept from where I'm sitting....it's been that kind of a Thursday. I can't wait to settle in on a full week cruise. We've been on five four-day cruises...time to stretch out for seven. I truly can't wait!

:hourglass. :scratchin

We are finally off the GTY list! I can sleep in a comfy bed with my very own shower! We will be in #9640. We lucked out big time because we had asked for an outside room and we were granted a verandah. We are very lucky, indeed.

Fifty days to go! And I can't wait!!!

:rotfl2: :cool1: :rotfl: pixiedust: :thumbsup2  :worship:

:cool1:Congratulations! That's awesome!:cool1:

We booked specific rooms for this cruise, but we're on GTY for the June Med cruise. I'm so hoping we get a great upgrade like you did. The cruise is close to being sold out though, so I'm guessing it won't happen. Maybe we'll get some pixie dust pixiedust:

I see in your signature line that you listed a western Caribean November 2009, we also did the western Carribean on the Magic on October 31 -November 7, 2009. Which Western were you on?

After last nights chat it was suggested that Sunday evenings may be the best time to try for two additional teen cruise chats. Friday and Saturdays seem to be very busy for the teens due to fall sports schedules.

We have scheduled two chats!

Sunday September 30, 2012 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Sunday October 14, 2012 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

That will leave two additional Sundays if the kids want to do some more!

It can't hurt if I send you some of our pixie dust. Here ya go! (And my fingers are crossed for you, too)
