November 3, 2007 - Western on the Magic

DH started Physical therapy this week and is making progress. However for the cruise I think he will be pretty much confined to a lounge chair. He says he can use his good hand to hold the cocktails.:rotfl2:

It's good to here he's doing well. Nothing like a Disney Cruise (and a couple drinks of the day) to aid in the recovery. How are you holding up? Bet you could use a cocktail or two come cruise time!

I'm doing ok, you just do whatcha gotta go and move on. It's a lot and sometimes overwhelming but, he would do the same for me. That's what you do for the ones you ! A cocktail or two, who are you kidding??? It will be 5 or 6:lmao: Very much looking forward to the cruise!!:yay: :woohoo:
So what do you think we should do for the DIS meet? Did you see my previous posts about it?

If I remember right last year we had one by the Goofy pool before sail away/after the drill and then there was suppose to be one at the Promonade Lounge on day 2. Both we totally forgot about with all the excitement getting on the ship and situated. It think I was unpacking during the meet so I'm not the best at determining day and time I lose all track of it once I'm on the ship.

Most of the meets on cruises I've been on have been right after the drill on the deck near the Goofy or Mickey pool. One meet was on secret deck 7 and I think 5 people showed. I think of all of them the Goofy pool before sail away worked best because it's near the drink station, a bar and you can get your prime location to see the show and dance while meeting people.

My two cents worth, we also need to be marked properly. I remember some woman in a lime green swim suit that I asked if she was looking for the board meet, she looked at me like I had two heads, then sped away. Of course it could have been my dazzling good looks overwhelmed her:rotfl2: . May I suggest a Mickey head paint sample chip as a name tag::yes:: Oh well, enough left handed typing for now, back for more medication.:rotfl2:

Once I approached a woman at the Magic Kingdom who had a bright green ribbon tied to her child's stroller. It was just so she would be able to locate it in the crowd, as I found out. She thought I was nuts when I asked her if she DISed.

Hi All! Can't believe it's October 1st, it's getting closer and closer!!!

I was just reading on the main board re: tuxedos on formal night and how few men (some say 1/3 or 5%) wear tuxedos. My DH and DS(9 & 1 &1/2) are planning to wear a tux but I just know my DH will have something to say if not many men will be in one. I was just wondering how many on our cruise will actually be in tuxedos?

Thanks,
Cindy

We usually see quite a few men in tuxes which always surprised me. There are also a good deal of men in suits, some in sport jackets and others in t-shirts. I would think the average has been at least 50% in tuxes but it varies cruise to cruise. You will see less boys in tuxes than men. Boys can get away with dressing down a bit more. Until last year when I bought my sons tuxes they always wore white shirts, black pants with a black vest and tie and they were not out of place. One thing that we always considered when getting in formal wear was the opportunity to get a great family portrait for nothing more than the cost of the picture.

Someone approached me once at Pop Century while I was wearing bright green and at first, it took me by surprise, but then I was really happy that someone recognized the "lime green" signal. I will have a bright green shirt on my first day on board.

Mr. iwbm will be the drop dead gorgeous guy sporting a classic black tux.

My DH will be sporting his new tux, looking quite dapper I might add:groom: DD and I just bought our shoes to go with our new dresses - we're all very excited!!:cool1:

My plan is to try to get a good portrait out of it as well and hopefully use for Christmas cards. We did go to the mall and get everyone measured for tuxes today, including DS 1 1/2. DH of course was kicking and screaming, he just doesn't like to dress up. My debate now is whether to rent or buy for the baby. The tux for the little guy is only $65 to purchase. I just might do that.

Thanks for the feedback.

My DH & boys probably won't wear a tux but I plan to get a great dress or gown, how about the ladies, our guys can be in great suits & we can have killer gowns, have to look around. Depends on my time constraints. I wen t for a job interview today & they did not have a problem with me going away & I felt very positive, some pixie dust from all would be great, lol.
About the DIS board meet, I know I write DIS board on our magnetic board on our cabin door. The color is green? What about making an easy green beaded bracelet or print out stickers like to wear or put on tote bags or purses. or even those name tag things to put on our tote bags so we can see each other the day we all board. I know I will be playing lots of bingo so I can almost always be found at the bingo games, lol.
30 days til we fly out, 'gotta get my head in the game' & get the kids costumes ready for the Not so scary party at MK & start getting stuff together to pack. Have a good one!

I don't know what part of South Jersey you're in but last year around this time we were able to get tuxes at Syms in Cherry Hill for $59.00 for my teen son. They have deals on them often. We've used the formal picture for our Xmas cards as well and every couple years use one from Castaway Cay. It's great to have Shutters on the ship make your cards for you. They're reasonable and one less thing to remember to get done during the busy season.

Has anybody received their cruise docs yet? Me neither, just wondering.

Cindy, I just wanted to let you know, seeing that you are considering purchasing a tux for you little guy, if you eBay, there is a store there called Ducks & Daffodils. They sell young boys tuxes very cheap. I recently ordered a fancy dress for my DD from there. It arrived in perfect condition, in about 48 hours. It was only $17.99 and it's a gorgeous little, well made party dress. If the tuxes are of similar quality, you can't go wrong. Besides, he'll outgrow it in no time flat, so you may do better there than $65.

DCL is the slowest of all the cruiselines to send docs! They know how much we need to touch them, to help us get through each day till we sail!!!!! It's cruel treatment, torture!!:scared1:
