Back from our great trip and thought I would share some highs and lows. We stayed in Cheyenne and spent 3 days in the parks.

Highs-
No crowds, very low attendance in the morning hours until about 2PM
Guided tour was great, we loved it
Many characters were out, including princesses so we did not have to wait in the pavillion.
The weather- it was pretty cold, but no rain, only a little foggy/sprinkles one morning.
No pin trading issues this time, great interaction amongst CM's and our DD
Fete Noel Dreams, even my husband enjoyed all the singing.

Lows-

The hotel and the guest service
Smoking in the hotel, we saw a couple smoking in the hotel. A maid asked them to stop, and they refused saying it was too cold outside, so the maid left them alone and kept working. I told the front desk about it and they did not seem to care at all. When checking in I asked a few questions( there was no one in line behind me) and the guy seemed annoyed at answering my questions. I went back later and a fantastic lady helped us.

Big Thunder incident- We asked to sit in 2 rows, my husband and daughter in 1, myself and our backpacks in another. After some confusion we all ended up in one row, and told to sit or get off the ride as they would not let us wait for the next train, or sit our bags on the side( for safety reasons) It was a horrible ride for us and next time I will say just say no and re-explain ourselves instead of giving in.

Overall a super fantastic trip that I am glad we found the Dutch offer and had a blast. I will be doing a trip report that will include all of our budget finds and deals.

Welcome back, glad you enjoyed your trip with a few minor exceptions. Whilst the smoking in the parks doesn't bother me it certainly would in the hotel

Welcome back, sounds like a great trip overall :goodvibes

Welcome back, glad you had a good time. We've had it before where they've tried to shove 3 of us into one seat on BTM :( it's not so bad if you're young and slim like my DDs were but when DH and I come into the equation it's far too much of a :crowded:

Welcome home....sounds like a great holiday overall.....there is just no getting through to some people..smokers lol!!!! Poor you in the one seat On big thunder....and the cms are usually so good on that ride :-D

Welcome home :wave2: and glad you had such a good trip. Where did you meet the princesses out and about? It sounds as if you chose a good time to go, I suspect the park will be far more crowded when we go in a couple of weeks time.

Which hotel were you staying in? This is not something at Disney's discretion, it is the law. You took the trouble to tell front desk and they couldn't be bothered? Unbelievable! Well, no it's not at DLP sadly. Not worth getting worked up and ruining the holiday over but a quick email to Guest Services now you are back (with details of date/time if you remember) perhaps.

Bad luck about the BTM incident - low crowds, short queues and then they stuff three of you on one row! I've been in a row of three on BTM with my fully grown DD and DS on either side of me but we are all slim and I rather liked it for warmth and support! They often put DS, DH and me on one row on PPF though and that is an awful crush (plus as you say there is the rucksack to have under foot). The worst thing is that DH is, shall we say, well built and so the bar rests a long way above DS and my laps. I wouldn't want to share a safety bar with DH on a ride where safety mattered! :rotfl:

Sounds like you had a fun trip.

Unfortunately i believe it is not against the law, the French smoking laws only ban smoking in Public Buildings (train stations, museums etc) and not private buildings like hotels. So technically the other guests were only breaking a Disney rule. And we all know that the smoking rules at DLP are not enforced very well.

I would still send a complaint email to DLP, as the more people complain the more they might take notice and enforce the rules

I'm 99% sure you're right, I'm sure I can remember a thread discussing it on here before.

Oh! I assumed a hotel was "public"... well it should be is all I can say.

I've just had a look on Tripadvisor and found this:

For anyone with asthma or allergies, a trip to France in the past would quickly turn into a nightmare, with people smoking with impunity right in front of no-smoking signs everywhere from the airport to shopping centers to restaurants to hotels.

But there is good news! Public opinion is slowly evolving, with more and more people favoring an outright ban on smoking in public places. Recent legislation, which took effect February 1, 2007, bans smoking in public indoor spaces, punishable by fines up to 350 euros. According to the legislation, these public indoor spaces include shopping centers, airports, train stations, hospitals, schools and all workplaces. It also includes hotel common areas (such as lobbies).

Might be worth looking into. :scratchin

Welcome home
I also would have assumed all hotels to be 100% non smoking inside. I suppose we are just used to all public indoor spaces being non smoking in Ireland :confused3 Very inconsiderate behaviour anyway but it sounds like the perfect trip otherwise. Would love to read a TR or see some pics x
