November 26, 2005/ 7 day Eastern Magic

bahogg - First, I was told there is a high childproof lock so the kids cannot go out without a parent. If you are anywhere near as paranoid as I am, DD and DS will not be out without you. Also, I bought travel alarms. I put them on every door that leaves our room. If the door is opened, they screech, and loud. I have never had my daughter set one off. I showed them to her, and even let her practice "beating" them (with me right there). There isn't any time to cancel them.

Hope this helps, smile!!!!

PS, did your DD send an email? I didn't get it and wanted to confirm the address.

Where did you get travel alarms? I have never heard of them. It would make me feel so much better to have one. My 10 yr. old ds could reach just as high as I could to get to a lock, and since my sister is a sleep walker I know that they do things that just seems like they are going through their day. My dks have never been sleepwalkers but my brain is in overtime.

ps. I sent you a e-mail at your work to tell her sorry but I rushed my dd out the door right after she changed her school clothes today. Life seems like one big rush. I hope the cruise even though busy is not as crazy as life in general!!!! dd will e-mail your dd tomorrow. She keeps asking, I'm gonna end up on the bad dm list!

bahogg :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

How very funny, I just looked back at your message, and seen your little saying about taking life slow. Wow!!! Talk about something slapping you in the face!!! I think I need that on my sunglasses all day as I drive to all 500 places I go everyday! :moped:

I originally got mine through Sharper Image, but they do not carry them any more. Here is a link I just found to an alarm like what we got.

http://www.tbotech.com/dual-purpose-personal-alarm.htm

I don't know the reseller or the manufacturer. I sent an email to Sharper Image and will post as soon as I get an answer.

thanks! I will definitly check it out!!! That would really make me feel much better!
bahogg :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:
p.s. I sent a e-mail through your dd so you could check the e-mail address let me know if there is any changes so I can change it on my computer. And I wanted to know if you got the picture I attached.

Anyone watching for documents yet? We are moving the week before our cruise, and I am worried that our docs won't find us. They are all suppose to go to my Mom's, but you know how that goes! Please everyone post when theirs arrive!

I would expect docs within the next week or two (I hope). From what it sounds like from the other threads it could come in 2 - 3 weeks before. I am hoping for the 3 weeks before.

Good Luck with your move. You really have some packing to do.

My TA estimated he would receive them sometime next week and by the time he mailed them to everyone, I would get them around the 8th. So, it should be soon enough.

Hi Eddjmom,

World of Golf is a really cool place, and we aren't even golfers. I don't know if they have availability open for Thanksgiving, but you could give them a call, or shoot them an email. They are very expensive, but I guess that's relative.

I like your signature that says, "Praying that you have a blessed day." I know that all my days are blessed even if they don't feel like it sometimes. God is good.

Let me know if there is any other info that I can help you with.

I know a couple of people are going to. We are still debating. We do not want to pack too much, my DW's scuba equipment takes up a lot room.

Pirate night is presenting a rather humerous debate at our house. My youngest ds (8 yo) is so excited to dress up. My older ds (11 yo) just says, "ooooo yuck!" to dressing up. My DH is trying not to rain on my parade, but he's not to sure. Not suprising since his wardrobe consists mostly of khaki pants and single colored polo shirts. I for one think it's a fabulous idea. You'll have to wait and see if I can pursude the rest of our gang :)

Happy trails!

our oldest ds has a captain hook costume that he got to wear in the Mickey's not so scarry halloween Party last year. My kids got picked with 17 other kids to be grand marshalls in the parade(it was so cool) they rode the hay wagon with the characters and got certificates. Our youngest would not do it but the other two had a blast. I said all that to say, He is going to wear his costume since it was to big last year and I am going to try to put something together for the rest of us. I think it would be cute if the other two wore last years costumes which means our other ds would be peter pan and our dd would be tink. I just think it would be cute with the whole thing that goes on after dinner with captain hook and the other pirates trying to take over.
but I'm sure they will want to be pirates since it is "pirate Night"

We are getting very excited except I told my kids they had to get flu shots next week, that didn't go over to well.

Hi all, my internet was down, so I was unable to check-in. My CC was charged for the upgrade, but I don't have a room number yet. I am sooooo excited.

Going to home depot today.

Bahogg, if you PM me with your email, I can send you an excel spreadsheet I created. It has a calendar to help you plan, as well as recommendations I have gleaned from the board for packing and a "tips" spreadsheet. I also agree with the passporter, it helped to calm my nerves.

JJBescher created a list of all of us including ages. I went there and PMed a few people to see if anyone would mind if a 6 yr old corresponded with my daughter. She is so excited.

The main cruise board has a lot of good ideas, started with the stuck tip area.

Regarding Formal night: I bought DD6 a pagent dress for under $50, plus gloves and nicer (but inexpensive) jewlery. I bought a formal gown and DH is going to tux it. In AZ we don't get much of a chance to dress up, they even wear shorts to the theatre, so I really want to take advantage of the opportunity. I understand a lot of people don't feel comfortable, and I can appreciate that also. BE COMFORTABLE so you can be confident.

Is anyone else going to order from Shirley at The Perfect Gift? I have the list for the baskets, and am just waiting for the 2-3 week mark to send my order in.

Thanks for the spread sheet. My dh got it opened. It gave me some good ideas to get myself a little more organized. I noticed you are doing the hot stone massage, I don't know if you have ever had one before but I had two of them last december on a cruise me and my dh took (not disney) and it was the best. I have had regular massages before but this just takes all. you will love it if you have never had one.

Oh my, did I send you modified copy or the blank one. Was the stone massage the only calendar event. Sorry if I sent the wrong one, I was in between meetings and didn't pay attention.

Glad it helped, it has been great for me.

Yes, I LOVE a stone massage. They offer them here in PHX. Being a tourest and snow bird spot we get many spa treatments you can't find just anywhere.

ONLY 29 more days!!!

I took sometime tonight to review all our reservations (hotels, rental cars, flights, etc.). Then I put together a budget for DH so he wouldn't have any big suprises.

Does anyone know if you tip for an excursion? If you do, how much? We're doing an all day trip (non-Dis) in St. Thomas. It'll cost nearly $500. Not to mention the $100 in cab fare (our rental car in FL costs less!).

DH does much better without too many suprise . . .especially where $$ are concerned. I always make sure I carry a buffer so as not to stress him, but I'd like to be as prepared as possible.

Oh happy days are coming in 29 more days! Yippeee!!

I generally tip on an excursion. I don't know what kind of excursion you are doing, but we took a $350 TTL excusion to Chichen Itza in Mexico. We tipped the tour guide $50 because he was so good. Normally I tip at least 10%, less for bad, more for good and a lot more for excellence. I am afraid I have been on many BAD excursions. If it is a parasail or something under $100 TTL I tip at least $10, same rules as above.

What is your tour that costs $500? How many people is that?

I cannot wait!!!! :cheer2:  :flower:

They are all making fun of me at work, Disney comes up at least half a dozen times each day, as does the count. Everyone knows how long until my vacation on the seas!

That is funny, and I am the same way...Counting down the days, docs should be coming any time, reviewing all ressies etc, getting things for the DIS meet...just too much to do. I am starting to set aside things too, and thinking of doing the flu shots as well...
I am just trying to think of anything that I have left to order online so that it can have plenty of time to arrive before we leave...that includes all out of season clothing, etc...

As for pirate night, we are doing a nice compromise. Since we wanted to get into it, yet not dress all the way in costumes, we have some nice pirate t-shirts that someone here on the boards recommended. We will just add to it with hats, and eyepatches for those that want to, and of course the bandanas they give out. :cheer2:

good morning!!!! you sent me your spreadsheet. But there wasn't anything crazy on it, it had some good ideas. Places here in Michigan around us have just started offerring the hot stone massage but not anything else different.

dd opened your dd's e-mail this morning. She was very happy to get it. She said I will e-mail her back after school. The way it sounds their personalities are alot alike. That is really neat that they will have someone to look for on the cruise. I need to get dk's ready for school so I am off for now.

I think I missed the final decision for the swap - what are we supposed to bring? Is it 3:00 at the Mickey pool? As for pirate night, I think we're going to wear our matching tropical Mickey shirts. Not exactly pirate clothes but easy to pack. I'd love to bring DD's Tink costume but can't imagine cramming that thing in to a suitcase. I think I'll go out the day after Halloween and get some half off Halloween accessories for the kids.

If anyone's interested, I saw some black t-shirts at Target that just had a skull and cross bones on them. They're in the men's department. Might be a good compromise for guys who don't want to go all out.

Lisarae - thanks for the mini golf tips. Do you know of a better place that we could stop at on the way from MCO? If not we'll just go to Trax Jungle because it's close. Thanks!

Boo Mc - I think the final decision for the swap is 5 hometown/state magnets. The meet is at 3:00 GOOFY Pool. If you think you missed any information, check the post at the bottom of my signature. It is post #358. It has all the details that have been talked about. If you think you missed something and do not want to read through the posts you missed, then just go to that page. I have been trying to put what date things have been updated.
MiniGolf - You could always go to WDW and play on Miniature GOlf on some of their courses. I realize it is out of the way, but they are probably better courses.

Since All I have is flight, Disney Transportation and the cruise, I just keep making sure I have a stateroom and it says Transportation is included.

Massages - I have been getting massages for the past two weeks and probably will be getting them every week till the cruise. I had the Hot Stone massage this past week and it was much better than the regular massage. I have been getting them because I have to have surgery on Shoulder when we get back. 4 tears in one shoulder. Luckily, my DW gets one a week through the YMCA and we do not have to pay for it.

Tipping on Excursions - Normally we have only done excursions through the DCL or Carnival so I do not recall us evr tipping. This trip I think we are going to do St. Thomas on our own and will tip if we need to take a cab or something.
