November 25th, 2016 - Black Friday on the Wonder

I'm pretty sure it's a law that you must visit a park either pre-cruise, post-cruise, or both when cruising out of PC. We're not looking forward to the crowds, but we don't mind just walking around and watching shows/listening to music. When we went in March (both DL and WDW) it was uber packed and we didn't even really ride anything at all at WDW, we just did the shows and what not. Being within driving distance of WDW is one of the reasons we moved to GA--we really miss AK, but it's awesome being able to drive to WDW for the weekend!

Random cruise comment: I wonder if there'll be galley tours available on this cruise...

Sounds like me, there are a couple rides I have to go on otherwise I am good with wandering and shopping.
As to the galley tour, I don't know. I have never done one so it would be interesting.

Hi all, Cruising with our Son, DIL, and two Granddaughters (ages 3 1/2 and 1 1/2). This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise but our 1st 7 day (prior two were 4 days). Looking foward to the longer cruise experience!! Any tips on parking at the port?

You do know this is about a recipe for cookies and not actual cookies being passed out, right:laughing:

No, this is something you sign up for on the website like you do for excursions. I think you can sign up when your check in day(platinum, gold, silver) comes up:confused3
"Pass out your favorite Christmas cookie or other baked goods to each cabin
Very easy !! Yummy !!"
I read that "cookie recipe exchange" part...so I figured we took a copy of the recipe...but I read this part of the post over a few times...still sounds like we pass out our baked goods...So I figured I guess we take a sample too. Thanks for clearing it up.

:welcome: Are you local that you will be driving to Galveston on the day of the cruise or are you spending a night in a hotel on the island? That will make a difference on the parking tips. Actual parking at the port you have the Port of Galveston and Lighthouse parking lots, there may be others. You can prepay(saves $5 or $10 I think) and that reserves you a spot. www.galveston.com has useful info also. If you are staying at a hotel the night before, some of them offer cruise parking and a shuttle to the port.

Yeah, it would be great if DCL let us bring home baked goods but if they are not packaged they would get confiscated I think. I am here to help(or not) depending on the day:rotfl:

We'll be driving from Ft. Worth the day before and parking at the port for the cruise. I'll check out the Galveston link you suggested.

Thinking about looking into the FE for the girls, is this primarily for the children? I've seen some comments that we may be able to sign up for Princess meet and greets, and a Disney Junior breakfast, does anyone have anymore information on this?

If you are driving in the day before you may want to look at a hotel that allows you to park and has a shuttle. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn and the Galvez, both are good.
No, the FE is for kids of all ages. We don’t have an adults only or kid’s only FE, it is mixed. My"rules" for the FE are on page 16 post #315. If you are interested in joining the FE you would need to be up to 10 posts so I can pm you for info as we are keeping most of it private.
This thread has more info on the online sign up for meet and greets. I think you can do it when your online check in window opens for this cruise. http://www.disboards.com/threads/book-character-breakfast-and-meet-greet-online.3517072/

Thanks! Thanks! And Thanks!!!

For anyone interested in joining the FE, please post here or contact me via pm. I check this thread daily so feel free to post any questions that I may know the answer to(or just to chat). There is no longer a recipe exchange as @scrapycruiser moved to a different cruise.

Hi! We've just joined the cruise, we moved our Feb. 17 Fantasy to this one! This will be our 4th DCL cruise, we've done Magic, and Fantasy twice so our first on the wonder. Cruising with me will be my DH, DD (10) and DD (7). I love the Merrytime cruise :) I agree this thread is a little mellow and could use some excitement-Let's get it started. The last DCL cruise we had spreadsheets of so many activities, tons of drink classes beer, whisky, wine, champagne, martini . . . we also had a meet and greet, pen pals for the kids ahead of time, ornament exchange. There are lots of options. I would love to participate in a recipe exchange or ornament exchange so if I missed that these are set up let me know. Oh, we're also brininging friends who are first time DCL cruisers! Has this group come up with a Theme name for our sailing?

:welcome:We are lucky that we get comments every week, but feel free to liven it up!. I check here daily in case there is someone that wants to chat(about anything). The only organized thing that is going on here is the FE. We had a recipe exchange going but the person in charge moved to a different cruise. There is an ornament exchange going on the site that shall not be named. Feel free to start up anything you would like::yes::

Welcome to the cruise!!

So...where is everyone from (now, originally...)? We currently live in Georgia, but we just moved from Alaska (so far we consider that home) and before that it was Houston,TX and Pittsburgh, PA.

We're planning on meeting up with friends in Houston after the cruise.

Illinois here. Just out of curiosity, were you born in Alaska? I had family stationed there and it is a beautiful state to drive(minus the mosquitoes)!

Huskie, we recently moved from GA via a few other cities as well. You're not in Brunswick, by chance?

I see that you moved from the Fantasy, which is the only DCL ship I haven't been on. Maybe someday but I like the smaller ships. It will be interesting being on the Wonder after dry dock and seeing all the changes. The only one I am not crazy about is Tiana's because I wasn't crazy about the movie but oh well, I will suffer through it somehow-being on a Disney cruise is just horrible:rotfl2:

Nope. I was born in Pittsburgh. Our daughter was born in Anchorage though, and she has a really cool birth certificate with polar bears and the northern lights on it! She has a normal (blue) one too. We absolutely loved AK and we're missing it tons.
