November 25, 2009 ~ Gobble~Gobble~ 4 Day WONDER Thanksgiving Cruise

What a great surprise for your daughter!

Tell her, on Disney cruises, you're ALWAYS a kid!

Ashley

All she knows is that we are leaving Salt Lake City on the 23rd and returning on the 29th. It's a surprise destination trip. We are staying at Saratoga Springs on Monday and Tuesday night. When we get there, she will think we are going on a cruise, but then I'll tell her that won't happen until Thursday if we are. Then I'll mess with her mind when we check out on Wednesday morning and she "knows" the ship doesn't sail until the next day!

Her only condition for her surprise trip was that she said she had to have turkey and yams for Thanksgiving Day. I told her I could arrange that, no problem!

We are booked for the Thanksgiving cruise on the Wonder. This is the first cruise for the 13 yr old daughter. We are extremely excited and hope to make many new friends!

We have a 13 year old, but a boy. This will be his 6th Disney cruise. We were first on when he was a toddler. We'll be at the meet and greet and hope to meet you there.

Saw your reply on my Fishlips thread. We are still trying to decide where to eat the night before the cruise. Trouble is, there won't be any ships going by on the Tuesday before the cruise.

Can't wait, the official countdown has begun! :cheer2:

Who has their FE gifts done already?!?!?!? :scared1:

Re: Atlantis......does anyone anticipate the excursion being full? I am stalling on signing up for DCL Atlantis excursion in case some other opportunity presents itself BUT we really want to check out the Atlantis resort! Any thoughts??? :surfweb:

Got my FE's "in progress"....We'll get them finished up this weekend. I was going to surprise the girls with the whole FE concept, but really, they are having so much fun helping me make these little gifts, that I am glad I've told them a little bit!

We leave a week from Saturday (doing 4 days in the park before the cruise), so we'll probably get all packed this weekend! My sister just got back from DW, so I am really ready to go after hearing her talk!

We've made a red/yellow/black paper "countdown" chain, and the girls are tearing off a link each day so we've started our countdown to the departure!

Only a little while longer....gobble, gobble!

I'm starting to think about what to pack.

Anybody else wearing lime green to the Meet n Greet?

fish extender is done:) now hoping that there is not another hurricane:) anyone else have kids very excited? My ds is 7 but will turn 8 next week so on top of cruise we have a birthday to plan as well:) at least it will make the time go faster. Counting the days 14 until we board the ship

Working on the FE gifts. Should have them done tomarrow.

Haven't started on FE assembly. Still trying to decide of fabric color and the pictures the kids want. They keep changing their minds. It is time for that executive decision and picking one for each.

We have some cloths set aside and will try and pack this weekend. We leave Thursday the 19th for 5 days at WDW before the cruise. Our first DVC visit and staying at the AKL Kidani.

The kids are getting excited. We downloaded a countdown timer from the DVC web site and they race to the computer to check on how many days remain before we leave.

7 days and counting. :cool1: :yay: :woohoo:

Is anyone dressing up for pirate night?

DH Jim

I found a pirate t-shirt for the guys on our trip...Kids have costumes...We also bought a couple eye patches when Halloween stuff went on clearance.

Our update from here...

The FE has been hanging in our kitchen for a couple of weeks... now I just have to remember to pack it when the time comes!
FE gifts were set this past weekend. They may well scuttle my plans to do an entirely carry-on wheel-aboard trip... They take up so much room that, with the FE itself, and a couple of door magnets (oh, yes indeed-y we're going Disney all the way on this), I am slowly realizing that the three of us just wheeling aboard our things is a bit of fantasy.
I've printed smart looking nametags for the Meet & Greet for all who indicated they were participating and made smart looking ones with no name for those who will join us (DO COME IF YOU CAN).

This is all sounding like I'm a bit too into this... but I still do the full-time job/full-time mom/full-time wife thing so this cruise really isn't as front-and-center in my attention as it may sound.;)

This weekend will see me laying out clothes, putting many back ("yup, there's Maggie with that same outfit on again"), adding a sweater and fleece with the bathing suit, lather, rinse and repeat for DH and DS.

We are all building in our excitement and it's undeniable that we'll be making some great memories while on this trip.

Happy Prepping, All! Maggie:flower3:

I'm wondering how dressy we should go... on all of our previous cruises the 2 formal nights had us decked out in tuxes and nice dresses... funnily enough, my 7 y.o. loves wearing his tux and would be thrilled to wear it again... but it would be one more thing to pack and I"m sensing folks just don't get that dressed up on these Disney sailings.

Anyone packing fancy dress?

Sorry folks, but we are going casual.

For dinners I am bringing 1 pair of nice black rayon type shorts and a short black swooishy skirt. Probably will wear the skirt - but I can't decide so I am bringing both (I hate to do this as I HATE to overpack). For tops, 1 tropical but nice shirt, 2 sparkly type Mickey tops, and 1 black pirate shirt that I found after Halloween at Target (I am gonna dress it up with some chunky silver jewelry). And for shoes I have black flats.

Hubby is not bringing jacket or tie - just a couple of nice dress shirts, 1 tropical shirt with collar and matching black pirate shirt as mentioned above.

We are planning a forman night for the Christmass card pictures. Nothing over the top. The wife purchased a nice dress and I and Kids will be in business casual; matching dockers and shirts, no ties.

pirate: For pirate night we all have costumes. Great after Halloween sales. pirate:

Just 4 days remain till the fun begins. :dance3:

Do most people put "tags" on the gifts saying who they are from? Or is it just "Disney magic" that brings the gifts to each door?

Thanks!
