November 24, 2012 ~ Western Fantasy ~ Pachyderms of the Caribbean

We are driving down on Wednesday, staying offsite and crusing around Downtown Disney that evening. Then going onsite to AOA for Thurs and Fri night and hitting Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. Reservation at 50's Prime Time Cafe for Thanksgiving Day and Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast on Friday...Anyone else doing similar?

My DD, 6, has no clue and me and my mom(all girls trip) can't decide when/how to surprise her?! It seems cruel to do all the FE stuff/make plans without her!

Any thoughts/ideas on how/when we can tell her the news??

We're actually flying down Thanksgiving day. We are staying in one of the villas at AK lodge and having groceries delivered where we're going to put together a low-key family Thanksgiving.

I'm a BIG fan of scavenger hunts. We've always done that to tell the (now-grown)kids what our special trip was. :yay:

We had reservations at 50's prime time cafe, but they are not serving Thanksgiving Dinner type food, so we made reservations at Hollywood & vine instead.

We are doing Brown Derby for T-Day. Ate there on our trip in May and enjoyed it. The cobb salad is great and the steaks were good, too.

I keep looking to see if I can get a reservation at Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom instead. I found a lone reservation yesterday but it was too early for us to make based on our arrival time, unfortunately. :( I will keep looking!

We love the Cobb salad at Brown Derby.

I wanted to try the Table Service also, but will be content with the Quick Service.

Whew! I can handle that. Is it cheesy to do something from your home state?

I think we'll be doing one per stateroom and definately only one for the trip. Don't have enough room in the luggage for more than that. I'm thinking your idea of something from the home state / home country would make a great FE gift. There are those that are very craft oriented that will do special things as momentos of the trip and others that do those special items from Big Lots. I think I fall into the later catagory and will be looking for something that is seasonal.

I wasn't even thinking about space. :crazy2: I like the idea of one for the adults and maybe something "fun" for the kids, as I'm not sure they give a rat's butt about Maine. LOL

Who do I have to talk to in order to sign us up for the FE fun?? :dance3:

Bring me lobster and I'll sign you up!!! :lmao:

BTW, I coach at Triangle Aquatic Center in the evening which is by Cary Town Center.

As far as telling her, maybe during Halloween. Give her something that tells her about it instead of candy.

Hey Jon-How do you find out about the Thanksgiving meal menu's? I thought I had done enough research to know they would do that...Dang!

We looked into swim lessons there at one point, but joined the Y so we just did them there. I like the Halloween idea!

I look forward to meeting you and everyone else!!

Thanks for the info. Got a reservation at Hollywood and Vine for 1:40 for lunch which is better than our 8:05 reservation at 50's PTC.

Uh oh! I think there's been a mistake on the FE list. I was just looking to get a count of how many people I needed to plan for...and I have a long list of children in my cabin.

Don't get me wrong. I love the munchkins. :cutie: But, depending on their ages, they may be distressed to be sleeping with strangers! ;)

Or, I could just be reading the chart wrong. There's always that DISTINCT possibility. But, in my room it's just me, Christi and Dh, Reid. :) And, I noticed some ages as well... I'm 40...and faaaaaaaaabulous and DH is 52.

Sometimes I just randomly assigned children . . . no wait . . . it was a test to see if you were paying attention!! yea - lets go with that . . .

I'll try to get it fixed today - perhaps before you are reading this . . .

Oh, you're goooooooooooooooood!! I noticed the notes section in the updated chart. Reid and I are actually celebrating our 10th anniversary on this cruise. :) The ACTUAL date is September 14th, but the whole reason we're taking this cruise this year is because of our "milestones." I turned 40 and we hit 10 years. :hyper:

Every so often I go out and check to see what the current availability and cost of our cruise is. For quite sometime all that showed up were verandas. Today I look and every single category appears available for booking at what look to be close to Day 1 prices. I guess I am a bit surprised.

Makes me wonder if we should cancel and risk seeing if they open up IGT rates. That would certainly save us quite a bit of money.

For all of you who do not know, my DW and I live near Port canaveral and Cocoa Beach. If you have any questions about what to do, where to go, etc., just ask. Be more than happy to assist!

Top of the page!!!

Last Saturday I saw our ship while driving by the port. I would post a photo of it, but I can't attach any dang photos on this dang website. Dang.

Can't wait for our cruise!!

:banana::banana::banana:

As of today we are paid in full!!! First cruise, so waiting patiently until 9/10 to book excursions, etc. Hoping some things are still available. Gotta get on there and see what we want to do!

Steve,

It is not that hard.

You need to upload the picture to a site, like Photobucket.

Then you use the tag that Photobucket gives you.

Hi Kim,
Hope you are well. Katie is also very excited that we are going to be neighbors. We will never see the girls! I am going to try to get Kate into the Edge. As long there is my son and Erin, I think she will be fine. I have to see how that works. That would be great if they could email other kids. The more kids they know the better.
What excursions did you sign up for? We are doing the Dolphin/Turtle Farm in Grand Cayman, Katie is going with my parents to a submarine one in Cozumel and then just hanging out at the beach snorkeling at Castaway Cay.
Other than that it is just having fun around the ship.
Are you doing the FE? It will be fun. We did it on our cruise last year on the Dream and loved it. Still deciding what I am doing.
Take care.....

Hey Jen,
How looks like we have similar tastes. We are doing the Turtle Farm on Grand Cayman (we did the dolphin swim last year in Cozumel so we are just booking the Turtle Farm on our own and will take a taxi there). We are doing the submarine on Cuzumel and just beaching it on Castaway Cay. We are not sure what we are doing on Costa Maya, if anything. We are also doing the FE. We have done it on both the other Dis cruises and loved it. Not sure what we are going to do this time as last time, we packed too much for FE's. Are you guys going to the meet and greet on the first afternoon? If so, the girls can meet up in person and make a plan to go to the Edge together. Have a good night.

Congratulations. Feels good, doesn't it? Now the planning really starts.

Jon, for this technically challenged guy, just getting the photobucket set up is difficult but I'm really going to give it a shot this year. Just haven't been successful at it in the past.

As a technically challenged individual, can asomeone answer a question for me. When I post to the Facebook page that is set up for the group, does that go on my "wall" so that any of my "friends" can see it as well as the group? Reason I'm asking is that we don't want the kids to know we are going on this trip (they may get mad that we aren't taking them and then there goes my Christmas gifts! Of course if they really wanted to go, they could pay for it themselves since they are 30, 28 and 26). This morning it sort of just "hit me" that with the posting on Facebook, I may have blown that since they all live on that internet site and all look at my DW's facebook postings (which she never does since she doesn't know how to do it).
