November 21-24, 2014 Disney DREAM 3 night cruise to the Bahamas

Each year my daughters and I take a trip to a Disney theme park - but not this time! Like many of you, this is our first time on a cruise and we are looking forward to the amazing adventures we know we'll have! As mentioned, we're new to this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, what exactly are the fish extenders. Or is it only for DVC?

Warmest Regards,

Ashley :cool2:

See the link below for a fish extender intro. Open to all when you know of a group sailing the same cruise and there is interest in such.

So do you think we would all get to meet on board ship? should we all carry a little DIS flag or a button so we know each other?

Exchanging will be fun. Never been on DC so I will follow who ever organizes it. :grouphug:
Also I read someone said the ship will be decorated for the Holidays. I cant wait.:goodvibes

I am traveling with my DH, DS age 13, and DD age 9. They will be using the kids club. I plan on decorating my door and doing a fish extender.

My family will be on this cruise. I just booked it today. We're celebrating my son's 18th birthday :)

In Nassau he is dying to swim with the sea lions and in Castaway Cay he wants to lay around on the beach all day.

Sounds like a great birthday to me! :)

Hi! This is my first cruise ever!! We are so excited. My entire family is coming & we also got 3 side-by-side rooms. I'm new to disboards so not totally sure if I'm doing everything right ☺️ My room will have DD-9 & DS-2, my brothers family has DD-3 & DD-11 (Other room will be our parents). We've talked about participating in the fish extenders too.

Welcome to our new posters/cruisemates!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

I am the original poster, and I have edited the first post to include those who have recently (since I last checked) added. Please check your info. I was unsure of details for some. You can either PM me or post here if you would like me to change any info.

I am keeping track of who is coming on our cruise in case anyone wants to either meet up or establish a Fish Extender group on that first post. I do not mind organizing a meet or a Fish Extender gift exchange. I am notating those of you who have indicated that you would like to join one. Usually, there is a deadline of 4-6 weeks before the cruise to join one so that everyone can plan on a definite number of gifts. Let's keep the conversation going. :thumbsup2

Here is a post I made earlier with links to door decorating and fish extenders:

Not DVC....I wish! One day maybe :)

I am planning to make door magnets for our stateroom door. :thumbsup2

Here's a thread I found for Stateroom Mickey Ears:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2172891

The other magnets I will search the Disigns threads to see if any Disigners can help with.

Definitely spending time researching!!!! :surfweb:

I would LOVE to do a gift exchange! We can edit the first post to include anyone who would like to participate.

To clarify, fish extenders are pockets that you hang outside your door. You need to join a fish extender group (like if we do one) and you will be assigned a day/night to deliver your gifts. This spreads out the gifting throughout the cruise. Every day/night, you would receive gifts from others in your group.

There are fish extender threads if anyone is interested in reading.

Only 291 days left to plan and prepare! Anyone found any good tips?popcorn::

260 days left to go!!!!

So far, these Disers have expressed interest in participating in a fish extender gift exchange. If I missed you, let me know. :)

Basically, we would each be assigned a different night/day to deliver our gifts. This would spread the "pixie dust" throughout the cruise instead of all on one night. Some like to give "family" gifts. Some like to give individual family member gifts specific to age and gender. Either is appropriate.

I would like to input family information into a spread sheet to share when we are ready to close our fish extender group. (not until about 6 weeks before the cruise) This way, everyone would know exactly who to prepare gifts for.

Post or PM me your info (room #, gender & age of each person in room, any important info such as food allergies, etc) and I'll start right away! :flower3:

Looking forward seeing the boat done up for Christmas. This will be our third time out (Dream and Fantasy previous).

It will be a totally different perspective this time. Our first was with DD and younger DS and another family, our second with older DS (young adult who enjoyed the 18*21 activities), DD and younger DS.

Since you are a DCL veteran, please feel free to share any tips with all us newbies :listen:

I'm assuming that we will see some or most of the decorations but looks like we will miss the "Christmas cruises" in regards to activities. They start the day we get off. :confused3

Hey Ashley, We travel to WDW fairly often, and we are looking forward to this new adventure as well. I have a feeling that we are going to REALLY enjoy it! :beach:

So do you think we would all get to meet on board ship? should we all carry a little DIS flag or a button so we know each other?

Maybe we could come up with a day and time to meet up with everyone. We could also see if one of the "Disigners" can come up with a little disign for us to wear?

Exchanging will be fun. Never been on DC so I will follow who ever organizes it. :grouphug:

I'll organize it. Been doing lots of research and ready to roll! :rotfl: See my other post and send me your info. We should see the holiday decorations, but not sure if we'll get any holiday activities. I think they start the very next cruise after us.

Yes, my kids know about the cruise. They are very excited.

Mine too! Especially my 9 year old son....he tells everyone about it! :lmao:

I am traveling with my DH, DS age 13, and DD age 9. They will be using the kids club. I plan on decorating my door and doing a fish extender.

My daughter and her friend who will be traveling with us are 13 & 14 respectively. My son is 9. Maybe they would like to chat/write each other before the cruise so they would feel like they are going to "know" someone before they get to the "clubs." PM me if you are interested.

My family will be on this cruise. I just booked it today. We're celebrating my son's 18th birthday :)

That is a GREAT birthday present! Happy birthday to him!!!! pixiedust:

Cannot wait for fish extender exchange. I have been looking at what I can do

:cool1::cool1::cool1: :beach:

Are you going to attempt to make yours or order one? I saw some really pretty ones on Etsy.

We will be on Deck 7 Room # 7017 & 7019:
Me and hubby

4 girls:
Sophia age 2
Rebecca age 9
Hailey age 14
Ashley age 14
We originally just has 2 girls but added two more girls.
A family gift is just perfect or maybe for the two smaller children is fine.
No food allergies.

If any thing changes I will let you know.
Thanks for your time and hard work organizing this.

If you have a Facebook account, there is a group you can join called Fish Extender Disney Cruise Line. It has lots of info, suggestions, pictures, etc.
I'm not posting a link because I'm not sure if it's "legal." I use it to supplement the wonderful info I get here on the Disboards.

My family and I will also be sailing on this cruise, and it will also be our first time! DH and I are very excited, but we haven't told the kids yet. I guess we're just waiting for the right (fun) time to tell them.:goodvibes
We have DD (13), DD (8), and DS (6)

This is the first time I have heard about Fish Extenders, sounds like it could be fun. I'll definitely need to check it all out! There is soooo much to see and do, it's almost overwhelming, but in a good way!! :yay:
