***November 2023 Check-in Thread***

Adding to this thread! :) We’ll be at DL stying at the new DLH DVC tower Nov 1st - 5th, then driving to Burbank and going to Universal the 6th-8th. It’ll be over a year since our last visit, and we’re DEFINITELY ready for a little break! Kinda sad to miss OBB since that’s usually when we visit, and we’ll just miss the start of the Christmas season… but I’m hoping there‘s a sweet spot between crowded park times… fingers crossed!

Thank you. What time do you suggest to return for resting? I am thinking around 2 to 6 pm? None of us have ever seen a daylight parade.
edit: Spelling
We are going the same week as you and I read somewhere not to expect a parade. They will be switching to a Christmas one which won’t start until after we are gone.

We are going the same week (Nov 3-10 though). I specifically booked it with the hopes it won’t be too crowded 🤞

We will be at universal Nov 7 too!

IDK if it affects the California parks that much, but that's "Jersey Week" when a lot of families from Jersey take a vacation since there's apparently some big teacher's conference during that first week in November.

I don't believe Jersey Week is a thing in CA

😢 Sad to miss the parade.
:-) to know a fellow Dis board will be at the park the same time.

It's only a thing in Jersey, hence the name. It's just a week when a lot of families from Jersey travel.
I understand that. My point in saying that I've never heard of it is that we don't see an influx of visitors from NJ during Jersey week.

Last year, we were on vacation out of state and met someone who, I believe, was from Georgia. She said their entire state had the same spring break.

Gotcha.

Excited to join the thread. Essentially a first trip for my family (I went once as a kid, but the rest, nope!). We are WDW officianados but so pumped for DL!!! Going Nov. 4-7 so very curious to see if we hit a magically low crowd, low decor time between seasons? I honestly want to see the park more "normal" and save holidays for another trip. Curious if anything might be unexpectedly closed for redecorating? And what might weather be like?

You'll likely see quite a bit of Christmas decorations in the park already, as they start to decorate the day after Halloween (and snow is usually up on the castle before then). The crowds will be much lighter than the official opening weekend for sure. Haunted Mansion will have it's Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. Not sure on other holiday closures (It's a Small World, Mater's and Luigi's at DCA). If I'm not mistaken the DCA ones are pretty quick, if not overnight, but not sure on Small World. Weather should be cooler (hopefully), but you never know with Southern California!

Last year, Small World was supposed to be closed from Oct 24 - Nov 11. They had some flooding issues so it didn't end up opening until December. Hopefully that won't be the case this year.

The flood actually was 2021. We were there and disappointed to miss the holiday overlay. Small World was closed Oct 24-Nov 10 last year.

I tried my best.o_O Today was the day to make dinning reservations for our “hotel/pool day”. Set the alarm early. Practiced using the website before . Did everything I could to score Goofy's Kitchen. Got nothing.
The DLH website shows the slides and pool might still be under construction while we are there. So instead of spending the day at the pool, the hotel grounds, and character brunch what ideas do you suggest? I could use some advice. We won’t have a car. 2 grandparents and 2 grandchildren (cousins not siblings) aged 10. No parents. Trip is first Disney trip ever for children. The morning of departure we will spend at DTD.

It is not always exactly 60 days out for reservations- keep trying, You can also set free alerts on Mouse Dining as a backup.
