I am planning our first trip to Universal. We have been to Disney twice. The plan is to go during Thanksgiving (Wed-Sat) and stay onsite. We generally go to Disney in the summer so I have no idea what things will be like during our trip in November. How are the crowds and the weather? My son will be turning 14 during this trip so any suggestions to celebrate will be helpful. Thanks!

Staying over Thanksgiving will be very very busy. But if you are staying onsite at a deluxe resort ( Royal Pacific , Hard rock, or Portofino) you will have express passes and early entry which will make it easier. If you are staying at Cabana Bay, you will get early entry, but NO express passes so you will need a plan of action.Weather can be chilly or warm.

That's a great week to go to Orlando in terms of weather. It can vary from very warm to a bit cooler, but it's still a very nice week. Bring your fleeces! Express Passes would definitely be helpful that week so think about staying onsite at Royal Pacific, Hard Rock or Portofino. I can't think of any specific ideas to celebrate other than call the restaurants and see if they can hook you up with a cake to celebrate. Maybe seeing Blue Man Group? Not sure if he would be into that, depends on the kid, but it might be worth looking into.

Have fun planning :goodvibes

We went earlier in November of last year.

We had one really cool day where the high temperature was mid 60's. We did fine with sweaters. (It was funny to see the life guards at the pool bundled up though)

We were there the weekend after thanksgiving and the crowds were very manageable. Touring Plans said it was a 6 on Saturday and a 4 on Sunday, but it didn't feel that high tbh.

Buy him a wand! There's an interactive kind that let's you interact with certain parts of the park (at least in Diagon Alley, I don't know about Hogsmeade).

We are considering a first trip as well and would go the first week of November. Could we get by without express passes? We're looking at staying at Cabana.

I think you could depending on how long you will be there. We went the week before Thanksgiving this year which is about the same crowd-wise, and we had 3 full days with park to park tickets. We did have Express Pass, but we would have been ok if we didn't due to the amount of time we had.

As for the weather, we had an unseasonable cold snap but other than that, it was in the 70s.

Thanks! We were at WDW the same week you were at Universal. The weather was so strange. Were you there during the downpour, thunderstorm and tornado warning? We spend 9 days at WDW but plan to do 3 days 4 nights at Universal. Need a change :)
