November 2015 car rental thread

I just went in and rebooked with Alamo using the Vegas Brazil and Visa codes (which I had used for the original reservation). For 11/12-11/19 I got a standard for $5 ($109 for the week!) more than my original compact price using the same codes. I could have gotten the original compact for even less, but I figured, I'm doing ok, why not bump up to the standard.... :banana:We're actually riding DME in from the airport then I'm going to pick it up from the Car Care Center. We just want to have a car to get around in just in case, but we all really wanted to ride DME. Those 2 codes kill anything else I've found including Costco and carrentalsavers [dot] com.

I am wondering if anyone has insight on what standard cars they will have at the Car Care Center? Thanks!

I'd say it's like rest of Orlando Alamo. No Standard auto upgrade to full size which is usually a impala, whatever dodge equailvent is. Last trip I had Midsize but got auto upgraded to Sontnta

I just went in to check on my dates again 11/21 to 11/28 $252.36 for a minivan using the Vegas Brazil code and the Visa coupon.. That is down $20 from my prior reservation. It does pay to check periodically.

RATES ARE WAY DOWN TODAY.

10/31-11/9 Minivan from Alamo with Insider, AP Discount, and Visa Code came to 383.57 for 10 days all fees included. That's the best I have seen so far

What's the AP discount? I'd love to see if mine is lower compared to my Costco rate.

Two questions?
1) How are y'all stacking codes? When I'm on the home page it seems to only accept 1 of each type of code.
2) Is the Vegas Brazil Code the one that some are hesitant to use? It does lower my rate, but I'm reading mixed reviews on it.

Thanks in advance!

That's right one of each code. The Vegas Brazil I would stay away from if it includes the CDW/LDW. There could be insurance issues if there were an accident.

the visa code is just for $30 off and you need to reserve with a Visa Card to my knowledge.

The Alamo insider is just a free sign on and create profile on Alamo's website.

Thank you for the quick response! :)

Thank you for the quick response! Yeah the Brazil code made the car we were looking at $300 cheaper, but eek not willing to take the risk!

I am going end of 10/31-11/4 and I too am hesitant about the Vegas Brazil code. I have two reservations one with it and one without. I have heard people have had success using it but I would end up being the person that was asked for a card or something. I wish there was more information on it.

I found this website. https://www.vegasbrazil.com/translado It is in Portuguese but one of the services the travel company offers is vehicle rentals.

The people that have used the code have not had any issues when they have picked up their car. My quote does not include the CDW/LDW so I am sure there will not be an issue. There is nothing to indicate that this code is not valid.

Using a code and being entitled to use a code are two different things. The question you should be asking yourself is...valid for whom? We know for sure it's not for the general public otherwise it would be listed on Alamo site.

I realize we're all here looking to save a buck, but no one knows the origin of this code and its intended userbase. Add to the fact that insurance keeps appearing and disappearing on reservations and it should make you pause and think, do I take this risk or not.

Exactly when I had tried sing it and it wouldn't let me change the LDW/CDW I said to myself this isn't right. But I am AP and Visa card holder so those discounts work for me and I got a great rate non the less

I guess that is the way I am leaning towards also. I know it's a valid code but for who? My guess would be for people who book through them directly. Mousesavers has always been good at listing codes and you may use them and they have made no mention of this code. I did see their website and the fact that it was not in english made me uneasy. I would love to save $50 but I think I will stick to what I have without it. Forthose looking for another code try 7016220. It is the orlando magic card and you can sign up for free online. Good luck everyone :)

I just did a price check using Costco VS Alamo insiders ans AP code 860292. Costco for the days I am at WDW for 8 days was $178 for a fullsize, the Alamo rate was $278.

I checked yesterday too. For 10 days, our costco rate is $238 for a mid size SUV and Alamo's rate is over $400.

I got in at really good time as my rate is awesome for my dates but I randomly check Costco/Alamo. And Costco has been 75.00-100.00 cheaper than Alamo.
