November 2015 car rental thread

It might be worthwhile to play around with your times. I just checked dates (November 13th-22nd) with a 12:00 pick up and a 12:00 drop off. The price was $185 (visa coupon and pass holder discount). When I realized I had made a timing mistake I checked again, this time from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and the price went down to $136 for a full size.

It makes no sense to me that a reservation that is an hour longer is $50 cheaper, but I'll take it!

This will be our first time using Alamo insider when we go to Disney. If I have a full size car reserved, do we just go to the full size aisle and if there is an SUV we can take that at the same rate, is this correct? Has anyone seen SUV's on the full size aisle at MCO?
thanks

Just used the Alamo pick any car for the first time last week at MCO. There were no SUVs in the standard/full size aisle at MCO when we picked up. Every spot was filled with a car - mostly Nissan Altimas, Dodge 200s, Chevy Malibus and VW Jettas.

Check your Alaomo rates today. It appears they are down again. I just dropped mine another $20.

Do you need to print out the AD2338FDF coupon? i have Visa but can't find the coupon to print out.

I used the coupon last week and they did not ask for anything, so I'd say no, you don't need anything.

I'm hoping someone can offer some solice. I currently have a minivan booked 10/30-11/4 through Undercover Tourist for $309. I saw on Costco Travel on Monday minivans for $289 with a second driver included (Alamo). I hastily joined Costco! However, they email you your membership number 24-48 hours later! I called and talked to three people, explaining that I paid the membership fee and wanted to book a rental car asap, but they said they couldn't do anything until the membership number was emailed! By Tuesday morning, I had the number, but Costco Travel minivan rates are now up to $453. Sigh.

So for those of you who are used to watching rates, what are the odds that Alamo/Costco will fall again between now and 10/30?

Keep looking, the rates go crazy all of the time. Booking for a flight into Tampa on 11/27 and out of Orlando on 12/4 with Alamo, we are renting a convertible (going to Ft Myers before Disney) and booking direct through Costco had be at $627, but then when I went to the Alamo website direct and typed the codes in there, I was able to book for $301... blew my mind. Checking again today, direct through Alamo rates are back to $450... so I guess it is luck of the draw.

I'd book mini van or whatever now and keep checking rates. I've seen rates all over creation. I know my May trip I ended up with a mini van because it was cheaper than my Midsize SUV.

Wow! That's a wild jump. Yes, I'll keep the minivan I have now and just keep checking. Thanks.

Wow! Y'all are coming up with some awesome rates. I don't know if it has to do with my location, but I was lucky to secure a Fullsize SUV for $400. Was hoping for lower, but I've been checking and nothing has come through autoslash that can beat that deal. Does anyone know if you can apply the visa code once you arrive to pickup the car? Also, do you have to pay with a visa?

I'm open to suggestions..would love to get this lower.

For those of you booking Alamo that do not have a Visa ( to use that code) - try this coupon code for a 2 car class upgrade.

I got it directly off the Alamo site AU4224FDC

Finally! Tonight Alamo rates seem to be down for our dates... arriving Thanksgiving for a week. Booked a standard SUV with Costco for $232 (with extra driver) and same car with Brazil code for $207 (no extra driver, but they have dropped the insurance coverage that had been added before) rates all in using Visa coupon. Just wanted to share in case someone else had been watching rates for this time period.

Is anyone finding any deals for picking up their vehicle on Thanksgiving weekend? Our trip is Nov 27 for 10 days, and the most reasonable thing I've found so far is a midsize (Emerald Aisle) with National for $341.03, including taxes, etc. I see the Costco deals, but we don't have a Costco near me so it wouldn't be advantageous to join. I'm not seeing similar deals for Sam's Club.

I pick up on the 28th, Saturday to Saturday and I have a standard SUV with Alamo for $212 using the Vegas Brazil and Visa codes.

Thanks! We are going earlier in the month but ours have dropped by about 15$ as well!

Looking today, rates are even higher, $850 for a week for a convertible!

Booked with vegas and visa, $301 for a week which is good enough for me, that's a steal. Not worried about codes, cdw not included on reservation, checked in online to go straight to the car. Can't wait for the sun!

I would check again. Alamo rates are down tonight and I just rebooked for $119 for the week in a standard which will be a full size since they don't have a standard row.

Not sure of your dates, but for 11/11 - 11/21 is 416.00. 119 is amazing. We can't come close to 200! Highest rates we have ever seen in November

So this is an odd question...but I just did my reservation with Alamo. The insider is under my name and has me listed as the driver, but in reality my husband will be the one doing all the driving. It wouldn't let me change the name...is this going to be a problem?

I do not have the answer to your question ...

But if you just made your ALAMO Reservation ... the price would probably be the same

If you Registered your DH with ALAMO = new account ... and make a new Reservation in his name.

I just went in and rebooked with Alamo using the Vegas Brazil and Visa codes (which I had used for the original reservation). For 11/12-11/19 I got a standard for $5 ($109 for the week!) more than my original compact price using the same codes. I could have gotten the original compact for even less, but I figured, I'm doing ok, why not bump up to the standard.... :banana:We're actually riding DME in from the airport then I'm going to pick it up from the Car Care Center. We just want to have a car to get around in just in case, but we all really wanted to ride DME. Those 2 codes kill anything else I've found including Costco and carrentalsavers [dot] com.

I am wondering if anyone has insight on what standard cars they will have at the Car Care Center? Thanks!
