November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

Hello! First time posting here, we are headed down thanksgiving week for the first time from the 21st to the 27th... 91 days!!!! We are staying with family and will only have 2 days at MK. We are celebrating my daughters 3rd birthday and I feel I am trying to squeeze too much in one day, we have a 9:30 BBB at DD, then a 11:45 lunch at CP, and we were lucky enough to get in at BOG at 4:15 :goodvibes ... Too much? Enough time? :confused3 I would have tried to split up the meals and do one on the 23rd and one on the 25th, but since we are spending a small fortune on her at BBB I would like to have her dressed up for the meals. We will have on our vehicle so we won't have to rely on Disney transportation in between DD and MK, which is nice but I'm still nervous we won't have enough time from BBB to our lunch reservation. Also going to MVMCP for the first time on 11/25 :)

Any advice for a clueless planner? I will be traveling with my husband, 3yr old, 1 yr old, father and stepmom.

So to make it a little clearer....

11/23 BBB 9:30
CP 11:45
BOG 4:15
11/25 MVMCP

I think other than having two nice large meals just 4.5 hours apart it all looks good! You will not have much time for rides and such that day until what you can squeeze in at the party, but how well that will go is up to you - will the little ones be ok without a nap? All of those things are very fun! ::yes::

Welcome to our humble thread!!:wave2:

You will be able to make it, but it will be tight. Will you be able to have a little down time between ADRs for the little ones? I would try for a later ADR for BOG. I know, they're hard to come by, but doesn't hurt to check back every day to see if something comes up. If you could get even 30 - 40 minutes later, I think it would be more enjoyable from the standpoint of actually being hungry and having enough time for the kids to nap in strollers and such.

For your first time there, you need to really do a bit of homework.:coffee: Get the books The Unofficial Guide to WDW and they have one that is UG with kids. Both are great. You can get them on Amazon or at your library.

Then, I would order the customizable map for MK (available on disney's website), familiarize yourself with the layout and identify and locate what attractions you hope to try. Make a list of "must do" attractions and then a list of "if we have time" attractions. If you want to have photos with the princesses, there is a fastpass now for most of them. Also, use fast pass as much as possible. You are going at one of the busiest times of the year, so be prepared.

You can enter MK at 4PM for the Christmas party, in case you don't have park tickets for that day. The party officially starts at 7PM.

Will you be going to any other parks while you're there? As questions arise, don't hesitate to come here...there are lots of wonderfully helpful people on this thread. Our motto is, there's no such thing as a dumb question. We've all been newbies at one time or another. ::yes::

Yep. Here I am again. It's about 2:20AM and I can't sleep. Grrr. I'm not getting a lot done during the day when I don't get good sleep. This time, no headache, but just feel completely wide awake.:confused3 Maybe I'll pop in a Disney movie and it will help me fall asleep. I've also secretly been watching Christmas movies once in a while. I know. Shocking!:santa:

Hope everyone has a great day! For those sending little ones off to school today for the first time or just their first day this year, hope all goes well.:goodvibes

Hello November peeps!

Just found this thread! I've been on the boards for four years now and I'm just now learning there are threads for people going when you're going? How did I miss this fun? :goodvibes We've only been planning the trip for two weeks, so I guess I'm not too late! We are going to WDW from 10/31-11/10 and also taking our first ever cruise on the dream 11/4-11/8. We are staying at CBR (first time there) 10/31 - 11/4 and I'm not sure where for the end of the trip. Depends on if they release any sort of room only discount. Otherwise we might be staying in the DTD area instead!

Who all is doing MVMCP? Ours is Nov. 16th & I am super excited to see MK all gussied up for Christmas. I might be the last time we get to see it at this time of year before my oldest heads off to college, so it is very sentimental to me.

Blessings!

Us! Dec 6th!

Take a break. We will all be here waiting on you. :grouphug: These trips can be really consuming.

Good Morning ALL!! :goodvibes

I am up early and dressed as I have an early appt. with a patient. Then hopefully its off to do a bit more school shopping at the outlets, and I am hoping to find some decent walking shoes for Disney. I really liked the ones posted on FB page- but Nike always run so narrow and my foot tends to be a bit wider. But we'll see. I am looking for one of those neat handbags too to carry everything. We shall see what the day brings. Oh....I booked our airfare this morning, FINALLY!!! So it is a definite GO!!! So excited. Southwest still has the best fares if anyone is interested, at least for us anyway. It will be our first time flying with them.

Hope you all have a great day and play nice!! lol!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hi and welcome to the board! You will get a more official welcome from the ones better at that soon I'm sure. :) I wanted to reach out regarding your room because I have DVC points that will expire soon and may be able to help you out on that end stay. PM me if interested. :thumbsup2

It is so hard to separate that though, isn't it? I am so anxioux over her starting pre-school this week that I just have to remind myself to stay calm because I don't want her to pick up on it. You are doing all the right things and she will be fine and actually better for holding her back now. :goodvibes
I had no idea when I had kids how much I would be experiencing vicariously through them. Once was enough thank you.
Yeah, it bugged me a lot more than it bugged her. I was the youngest growing up, with a late October birthday in a state where the cutoff was December 1st. It worked out ok for me, but not for many. I have a lot of friends who purposely hold their kids back that first year even if they are eligible. She met all new friends and did well in kindergarten and will be a first grader on Monday!

Her birthday is Oct 20th and MI has a Dec 1st cut off. There has been talk of them changing it to Sept 1st like the other states around us. If that happened there would be no debate she wouldnt qualify. So that kind of makes me feel better. My youngest her birthday is Sept 17th so she wont quality either if the date is changed.

Thread #4 already???

All this time I have been posting in #3 and thread #4 is already 51 pages in!!! LOL

I am headed out today to find some Disney items. Just a few things to keep on hand for my little guy.

We are considering doing one of the safaris offered at AKL. There are two that we can do, not being club level guests. Trying to convince DH that the girls will be ok in the kids club for a couple hours while we go do this safari. He is very nervous about leaving them. Says he doesnt want to be that far away. Im thinking realitically how long could it take to get back if we had to? 20 - 30 minutes? I guess it would depend on where we were. We'll see.

I got my 8:45am Chef Mickey's moved up to a 7:10am. Pretty excited about that I was not happy about breakfast that late I didnt want to get to the park at after 10am. Been working on getting that changed for a while.

For all you guys debating holding your kids back....... you're bringing back memories for me. We went through this with our oldest. We sent him and he's always been one of the youngest in his class. He's very smart and could definitely handle the work, but there's so much more to it than that. It was an issue for us every step of the way, he was always just a little "less ready" than the others for whatever the next step was. I thought it was an issue in kindergarten, but didn't really see that it would be an issue all the way through school.

We sent him (he could have read Newsweek magazine to you when he started kindergaten) but it was the wrong decision. How do I know? Now that he's in college, I asked him. He wished we had held him back for all the reasons I stated.

The part I underestimated was the effect of the community around us. Everyone ELSE was holding their young kindergartners back, making him even younger in his group.

So take a deep breath. And learn from my experience.

Morning! Would someone please drop a Chef Mickey ressie for Nov 27 at 10am for 6ppl!? My trip would be complete if you would. lol I've got an 8:30 that morning, but now that we've rearranged our schedule, i'd like something later.
