November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

Or not...
I have another question now! :lmao:

Why does my DIS app icon on my phone have a little number on the top right? And how do I make it go away???

So we have received some unfortunate news...my DSD (daughter from my DH's first marriage, she lives with her mother in Kentucky) is unable to go with us in November because of her cheerleading practice schedule and competitions. :(

My DH actually did tell DSD that we were planning on going in November but if she was unable to go with us we would plan a trip for 2013 when she is out of school! :cool1:

So now that we have the "official" no go I get to start planning our 2013 trip as well, but I have a few questions that I am hoping you guys can help me with :worship:

1. We are hoping to get a bounce back offer in our room at the end of our November trip, is it for the same resort that we are currently staying in (All Star Movies) or can we change resorts?

2. When would you go - - looking at our options we could either go in July (She starts school in early August) or we are looking at going during her fall break, the first week of October.

TIA for your wonderful advice and help!

Kim
My vote is for October also cooler weather lower crowds

Check you private messages it might be the number of messages you have
I actually like the app better then the website. Once you get the hang of the app it's so much quicker

If you are subscribed to any threads the app will notify you if you've requested that option in your subscription. It is a handy app for sure. :thumbsup2

I'm trying to figure out the DIS iPhone app now... So confusing!!!!!

Is there any way to post smilies?
I love my smilies...

You can also download the emoji app which gives you lots of smilies you can use in txts - they seem to work on the dis boards app too (at least I can see them - maybe you all can't see them!

Let me try one from my phone

The cream cheese pretzel and Grey Goose Slushie sound awesome! Don't feel bad about the Dole Whip. I haven't had one either. :) Where do you get the cream cheese pretzel at? :confused3

I've only had it at Magic Kingdom The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland.

I found out that it's now available in Hollywood Studios Pretzel Garden on the Streets of America and in Epcot at Fife & Drum Tavern in American Adventure pavilion!

It is FABULOUS. The only way I know how to describe it is like a big whoopie pie made of soft carrot cake with cream cheese frosting in the middle. I think it's only available at The Writer's Stop. I had it for the first time in July and can't stop thinking about it :)
Sounds Good!!

I finished some of my sewing today! I was able to complete a smock/ bib for P and an outfit for him to wear at Sea World.

I was also able to finish all but one of our family matching outfits. I don't want to load a ton of pics so if you would like to see them please check my pre-trip report.

- I wanted to see how you all went about budgeting for food everyday if NOT on the dining plan? We will try and eat breakfast in our room most days. So I plan on eating lunch and probably 2 snacks/treats in the parks. How much should I plan on having?

I'd check all ears and guess at what we might eat. We've never gone with no dining plan, so I wouldn't have a clue how much we'd need. I know for sure we wouldn't eat as much as we do on the plan!!! =)

Booked dessert party for 11 on the 27th!

Glad you got your date!!:thumbsup2

We decided to forgo the Dessert Party....we are already doing so much and time wise it would be hard to find a place to put it in. I think with all we have planned, we are going to have a fabulous time even without this.

I'm a girl who loves desserts, but I can't do the dessert party. I find with the regular dining plan, I don't have room for an extra desserts.:confused3 And I would want to make a serious dent in that buffet! :rotfl: You will definitely have a fabulous time!!!:dance3:

Good Morning & Happy Labor Day!! :goodvibes

I agree with everyone, there are just sooooo many great snack options that look soooo good. I can't wait to try some of them. So today, I am going to put out the clothes I think I want to take with me to Disney. Now that I am flying on SW I don't have to worry about the cost of checking a bag--that will be such a nice change for us. I bought some really cute things at Kohl's this weekend for their labor day sale- and I can't remember the last time I bought myself anyting, lol Its usually the girls or DH that I end up buying for. I think when its all said and done, we will be one sportin' looking family, lol!!

I hope that when we all come back, we can share our pictures of our trips together on a new thread!! Wouldn't that be awesome. I just feel like over these months, we have really gotten to know each other and that would just be topping on the cake, don't you think??

well hope you all have a great day!! Relax and enjoy the day with your family!! :cool1:

I'm the same...clothes for everyone else, but not for me! Glad you got some things for yourself!:goodvibes Love the idea of the picture thread!:lovestruc

oh yes we will have a new thread over on the Community board that way we all can stay together and post pics:)

You continue to rock!:cheer2:

Good Morning Everyone!

Anyone want to go do my grocery shopping for me???? PLEASE???

I don't know if it is because we are getting closer to our trip or what have ya, but yesterday Kaileigh decided to get into meeting the characters at Cedar Point. I have tried in the past to get her to meet with them and no go. Yesterday I was able to get pictures with 6 of them. I still like how Disney does it better:rotfl: DH and I also talked about food we wanted to eat at Disney as well. The food at Cedar Point smells good as you walk by, but once you get it to eat it doesn't taste as good as it smelled.:confused3 We also heard a lot of Disney music while in the kid areas.

We also found Kaileigh does well for about 6 hours with a small break for lunch at the car. I think we would have done better, but she brought tennis shoes that were slightly too small and then had to wear her flip flops after lunch and that didn't work so well with all the walking.

I think she had Disney on the brain because she kept calling Snoopy Pluto.:rotfl:

I know what you mean about the food at Cedar Point! Smells soooo good, then, disappointment sets in. :( It was a good trial run for your little Kaileigh. She is a little cutie! Thanks for sharing the pics! :thumbsup2

It's usually for any resort, unless they've changed it. I would definitely go in October since it will be less crowded and a bit cooler. See if you can budget for the MNSSHP. It is awesome!!:cheer2:

So last year for our trip I put a piece of paper on the frige and just started making notes of things I wanted to pack when I thought of it. I noticed this morning that my husband has started the list. At the top of the list cooler, then beer, then dailey's freeze and serve cocktails :lmao: We have established his priorieties.

:lmao: I like a guy who is pro-active!!

Very creative on the crafts! :thumbsup2

For budgeting I guess it depends on how much you want to spend and if you have to eat in the parks or resorts. When I went in 99 we stayed off site and ate mostly in Kissimmee for breakfast and dinner, but would have lunch at a QS location. For that trip we just set an overall budget that included souvenirs and just ate wherever we thought looked good at the time. We over planned on that trip and had money left over when we came home.

This year we're doing the standard DDP, so we'll have breakfast in our room most days and will also bring collapsible water bottles with us to the parks. We may also bring some small snacks like goldfish or trail mix for the kids since we'll only get one snack/day/person. We'll pay for one or two meals out of pocket due to using 2 TS credits for CRT, but it'll likely be a QS meal either at the resort or possibly in town. Again we're bringing a set dollar amount to spend and that will include our tips, souvenirs and any meals or snacks that come OOP. My advice is over plan for your spending but don't over spend your plan! ;)

I'm not on Instagram but I am on Twitter: gruton is my handle.

I am so happy with our new ADR schedule. It makes our park days flow SO much better! It also allows us to have our 2 BB days and a DQ day too. The only things is we're now renting a car for 3 days instead of 1.

I need to call tomorrow and add the WP&M option. Other then that I'm done. Photopass+ and stroller have been ordered.

I'm on instagram as dhammis. My wife is ehammis. She will probably instagram more than I, but I may remember to do more. I'm 710squirrel on twitter but mostly use that for following racing. I may also remember to tweet stuff there from our trip though.

Good Morning All!!!:wave::wave::wave:

I've been up coughing since 11:30 last night, so I'm about to go to bed for a couple of hours. Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. Our DS got home yesterday around 11:30AM. It was great to see him. He moved to Florida the first of May and we missed him! He'll be here until Thursday, then back to Florida.:cool2:

HELP! Does anyone know how it works when you have a package booked, but someone stays with you for two nights in the middle of it?:confused3 I had thought that we would just pay the extra $$ for him for those two nights and all would be good. Now, I'm wondering about it because I know everyone in the room has to be on the same plan. It seems to me we've talked about this before, but it was probably 2 threads ago, and I need reminded. Thanks to anyone who can advise me. I would call, but you know you all are more reliable than the CMs!;)
