We really love going that week. We usually arrive around Thanksgiving and stay through the week after. There is a noticeable drop off in crowds, and every time we've gone it's been on the cooler side.

I don't think it matters if you have an existing reservation, because I've gotten pin codes before while I had a reservation. This time around, I didn't happen to have a reservation with Disney.

I can tell you that I played around on the website on Friday while logged in, and saved a few offers for some Magic Kingdom area deluxe resorts. Then I left the site without booking anything. The PIN code I got said something like "We're glad you're considering a stay at the Wilderness Lodge" and included some pictures of the resort and a PIN code, but the PIN code was available for all resort levels.

There seems to be some other offers attached to this PIN code. I can book the dining plan with only a one day ticket requirement. I had two different cast members check this for me because it was so weird.

I have done this so many times and it doesn't do anything for me. :confused3

We need suitcases SO bad! I wanted to get everyone one for Christmas and never found good deals. I am going to be watching for them, maybe for their birthdays this year.

Do you have a TJ Maxx anywhere near you? That is usually where I get our luggage from. I have gotten some really nice stuff.

The week after came be hot as well. Some days you are in shorts and some you are bundled up. The crowd level has been gradually growing. But it is still very, very doable. Especially if you follow a crowd calendar for best park of the day. :thumbsup2

PHOTOPASS SHARE.....................this is the way to go, especially if you are budget conscious. THere is a group on FB you can search for shares for your trip timing. I haven't seen anything for November yet, but I know someone will start one in a few months probably. I just did an October share and it was fabulous! Not sure we are allowed to talk details about that on here, but you can search for the group on FB for more info if you don't know what it is. Cost me $10 for the CD vs. $99. Still took all the pictures I wanted.

OMG! Though think about it-thats not long before our trips! I have airfare to pay for, trip to pay for, spending money! UGH! I did buy turbotax business off of amazon today for $75 vs. $99 at Target :thumbsup2 so I can do my taxes and *hopefully* get a refund!
Now you are making me anxious! Those airline tickets got me last time. And looking so far, they are crazier for November. Hopefully they will go down.

Ok, really dumb question on my part, but do you have to have a regular admission ticket to MK in addition to your MVMCP ticket if we are only going to head to the park during MVMCP hours? It has never been an issue for us before, but we will be there 11 days and are only getting a 10 park hopper. I was thinking that our MVMCP day might be a nice slow, sleep in, swim, hang at the resort kind of day.

Thanks!
No extra admission ticket is needed for the MVMCP. Your MVMCP ticket usually allows you to enter the park at about 4pm. If you wish to enter the park before then, then yes, you do need a separate ticket. We love spending our party day sleeping in, swimming, doing DTD or eating a character meal at a resort!

We are thinking of the 10th-18th...We may still end up going in Sept with free dining but looking into Nov for the christmas year..
Those are our dates! We are booked 9th-17th, but hoping to add the 8th at POP. We are already booked at BLT (DVC) for the other nights. hoping this is a good week!

Hi All,

Our last 2 family trips were in the second weeks of Nov 2008 and 2010. We enjoyed the Christmas decorations but in Oct 2011 I went with my sister and some friends. We really enjoyed the Halloween decorations and the Halloween Party (more so than the Christmas Party). I promised the kids I would take them to the Halloween Party in 2012. I'd like free dining as kids turning 10 and they won't eat $52 worth of food a day. I am debating between end of Oct and 11/1/-11/9. I know the Halloween Party is held for the last time on 11/1 or 11/2 but not sure when they remove the Halloween decorations. Jersey Week doesn't usually faze me but this year I am more concerned because of the timing of Veteran's Day. Also, I don't want to hit the black out date for free dining (if they do free dining). Any suggestions for end f Oct vs. first week of November? thanks for any and all suggestions!! Can't wait for the trip!!
We were there last October 14th-22nd and I believe that week was blacked out for Free Dining due to all the conventions going on and the big children's miracle network golf tournament (Gartner IT convention). Both events filled up a lot of the MK and Epcot resorts already, so I guess they didn't feel the need to offer a discount that week or something. So keep that in mind when looking at October. We did enjoy that week though! I think the last halloween party is usually the 1st. Then the first MVMCP is shortly thereafter, so the Christmas decor goes up pretty quick in the MK to support the first MVMCP.

I live in Houston, Texas.

I really thought we were about in the middle, but the drive to the West is a lot longer than the drive to the East!
Fellow Texan here- we are in Plano, outside of DFW! Heading to Houston this weekend for my cousin's quince though!

Sorry to be MIA lately. The holidays caught up to me and now I'm preparing for my spring semester.

Nothing new to report with the exception of some DVC talk here. DH's coworker is a DVC owner and it has really had us thinking and researching.

I did get some pretty sweet clearanced Disney Christmas goodies while hitting the post holiday sales and we totally told the kids for the sole purpose of bringing back our cute countdown.
yeah for DVC talk. We just bought in early 2010 and love it. We own at BLT and I couldn't be happier with our decision to buy. We've already traveled 3x using our points, once to DL hotel for 2 nights and twice to BLT. I just love knowing we are guaranteed a trip every year if we want it! Of course the downside is missing out on all the discount- no free dining etc. :wizard:

Hello!

We are hoping to go the week after Thanksgiving this year. We would drive from WI leaving on Thanksgiving day, probably staying a few days at a beach hotel in the Tampa area, and then hit WDW Monday-Friday.

I would love to do the beach stuff after Disney, but I just don't think it's going to work. That would mean we would be at Disney the Fri/Sat/Sun following TG and I'm just not up for that :scared1:

Actually, maybe you all can help me figure this out. So we'll arrive in central FL Friday evening LATE, like 10pm'ish, after two days of 12+ hour driving with 5 & 6 year old boys. Do you think it's worth going right to Disney? I would so much rather go right there but with the holiday, I'm too scared :rotfl:

Is there any way to work it out to do the beach days AFTER Disney? OK, so basically, we have Thanksgiving day (Nov 22nd) to Sunday, December 2nd. And if we're really going to get crazy, we *could* leave the Wednesday before TG'ing, but we're just really not "drive through the night" type of people.

I would love it if you could help me figure this all out! We've only been once before (last January) but I' obsessed and read anything I can on WDW, so I feel like I know more than I really do

So hold of putting our dates on the 1st page until I can get this figured out, thanks!!

Heidi.

i haven't been that week of Thanksgiving before, but based on what I read on the boards, that weekend prior to starts getting slightly crowded, then the week of more crowded and that weekend of Thanksgiving is bad. Touring plans shows that Thur/Fri/Sat of thanksgiving weekend as all 10s. So I would avoid the parks then and do the beach instead. Then hit WDW on that Sunday/Monday when it goes down- it shows like 3s and 5s the rest of the week! So hit the beach when WDW is most crowded and enjoy it during the week when it is least crowded. That's what I would do. It means hitting the beach first, but that will allow the boys to burn off some energy after being in the car too?

Do you have a TJ Maxx anywhere near you? That is usually where I get our luggage from. I have gotten some really nice stuff.

I do!! Really close too, I will have to start stopping by there. We bought some nice luggage a FEW months before they started charging for bags. Ugh. So, now we really need 4 carry ons, one for each of us.
Thanks for the tip!!!:thumbsup2

Hope you all don't mind me jumping back in here. Was so slow here over the holidays and then y'all got so chatty! I've been reading along, just can't keep up! Cool to see so many newcomers and to see the regulars posting again. So glad we're getting closer to our trips.:cool1:

So to anyone who has gotten a pin code for November, what dates does it cover? If my DH and I don't go in September or October,I'd love to go 11/8-11/14 or 15, but I know that's the end of Jersey Week, Veteran's Day, and the Wine and Dine half. Are the pin codes blocked out for those dates?

What about free dining IF it is offered this year? Would those dates be blacked out? I'm guessing yes...:sad1:

Hoping to go Nov 16th-24th. Watching for specials!

:welcome: let me know when you book and ill add you!

I am going Sunday November25th-Dec2nd the busy dates that I saw when looking at touring plans (http://touringplans.com/ I subscribe to it....search online for a coupon code to save money for your sub ) was sunday and then the following sat and sun. So basicly in a nutshell the weekends. I recommend this...go to the beach FIRST then Disney. Thanksgiving (thurs, fri, sat AND sun) is mad busy but starting sunday it all thins out. It all depends on how many days you wanted to spend at disney? If you could arrive at Disney on the monday (Nov26th) and stay there through Friday -then you get both done! :surfweb:

Um the end of the Food and Wine Festival, Wine and DIne half marathon, some Masters meeting and Jersey week and Veterans day all fall on November 10th-12th weekend...just saying itll be busier than normal and probably no discounts/FD

we will drive down the friday after thanksgiving, get settled into the resort, then probably spend sat. going to the disney outlets. start our park days on sun/mon. we can managed, we just got back the week after christmas and i've never seen so many people in 28 trips!!!! after that week, we are going to zip thru any other week. it goes to show that with any crowd level you can manage the parks by getting there early and fp!!! we did it with 32 people!!!!

They moved the Wine and Dine half marathon to the last weekend of Food and Wine- November 9-11th weekend. The half is probably that Saturday the 10th at night if it is like this year. It used to be during the first weekend of F&W, but they added a Tower of Terror 10 mile race that first weekend instead and bumped the Wine and Dine half. :goodvibes

That weekend of the 9-11th is also the Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney. I think it is also the end of Jersey Week. The 11th is Veterans Day.

I have been reading on other Dis Posts about Bounceback Offers, some of the dates in Nov are 11/11-11/17 and 11/25-12/1 from 20%-35% off room so maybe we may have a shot at Discounts at this time.:rolleyes1
