November 2010 trip. Anyone else?

Well, technically we're coming down on 10/31, but we aren't going to the parks until 11/1 -- so I'm considering it a November trip.

Hang on for the long explanation! -- I'm going to be there with my Big Sis from Sunday, 10/31 through Saturday, 11/6. It's her first DLR trip, and I'm really excited to be the one to take her! Her kids and grandkids will be coming on Monday, 11/1, and staying through that Saturday. Her kids have been there, but it's the first visit for her three grandkids. I'm really looking forward to being there with kids (we don't have our own), and seeing what their reaction is to everything. THEN my husband is joining us on Friday, 11/5, and we'll be staying there through Wednesday, 11/10, missing the Veteran's day crowds.

So, if you've followed this through, you will realize that I will be in Anaheim for 11 days and 10 nights! Big Sis and I will just be soaking up DTD and being in California the first day and going to the beach one day, and DH and I are going to USH one day, so that leaves 7 days in the parks. Could it be that I might be sick of Disney before I leave?!? Fortunately, we are staying in an NQQ2 room at the HOJO, so at least I'll have a really comfortable bed away from home.

We are also coming in on November 1st. We will be at GCV Nov 1-4 on rented points sandwiched between stays in Carlsbad and San Diego. Any info/advice on crowds, etc would be great!! This is a 'one and only' trip to California for us.

We are planning November 11ish-21ish. Dates will be finalized once we know for sure which weekend the holiday season officially kicks off. Last year we went the first week of November. While the weather and the lack of crowds were amazing, we really want to immerse in the Christmas magic this time.

We just booked for Nov. 30th to Dec. 2nd. Short trip but we have never been there before so very excited.

Remember that next November 18th it will be the 82th :bday: of Mickey Mouse. Is it known anybody if there is some special celebration party: this day?

We are going November 5-20.

We were there last year around the same time and went to MMCP and the must see lights at Hollywood Studios.

It may be a long six months...DGS brought me my shoes and keys last Sunday night and wanted to go to Mickey's House right then.

A couple of days later as soon as he saw me he started asking to go to Mickey's House.

I keep reminding him that we won't be going until after Halloween. Of course a 3 yr old has no sense of time.:rotfl:

ACDSNY, I am thinking that 6 months is going to go by in no time! We usually start counting as soon as we get back but this year we had not been completely sure we were even going to get to go at all. I usually start counting with over 300 days. Since I started counting much later this year we are already down to 173 days! Maybe we call all talk each other through it to help pass the time!
So what has everyone else gotten done/planned for their trip so far? I've made our hotel ressies and started buying gift cards to apply towards expenses. I would love to go ahead and get the airline tickets but right now fares are outrageous. That may be a blessing since I am waiting to know whether we will be going it alone or with another family. (Yes, I know Sherry! She's lost her mind AGAIN!) Anyway, if anyone runs across a fantastic deal on airfare be sure to let the rest of us know!

Some days I feel like it goes so fast and others the days drag by and Im like "Is it time to go yet?" :rolleyes1

With 167 days to go we aren't even ready to make a count down chain, the dang thing would stretch across the whole house!! :scared1:

For anyone going in Early November, what kind of clothing are you taking? I've never been to SoCal in fall so I have no idea what to bring or what to expect. Being from an island Canada I can handle the cold, but humidty gets to me.

Also, we have 1 free day during the week on our trip and Im wondering what kind of fun things people can suggest we do? We're on a bit of a budget so the more affordable the better :goodvibes

We've been in November on several different trips. It is really difficult to outguess the weather but generally the weather is perfect during the day and cooler in the evenings. I packed our first year for cold weather and ended up buying a batch of cheap gift shop t-shirts cause it was just too darn hot. After that I have always packed t-shirts and brought a jacket for mornings and later after the sun goes down.

The first few years we went we saw different things in the area but now we have just decided we would rather just have all our days in the park. The park will be least crowded during the week so you might consider having your free day on the weekend to avoid crowds unless, of course, you are wanting to stay late for the fireworks or Fantasmic.
The beach would be something fun and cheap. Of, course, you couldn't do much in the way of swimming. I also did a quick google search and came up with the following links.

Also, it never hurts to pick up a free California visitor's guide.

Thank you so much, I just ordered the guide. I tried finding something like that before but it evaded my search, thank you for posting the link for me

Side note here -

Marie - when you have time, you must share some of your wonderful DLR holiday photos over in our "Disney at Christmas" planning/photo super thread (don't you have a photo of Santa spinning the popcorn in one of the vendor carts?)! We are missing your contributions! Even though there is a lot of discussion of plans and various holiday events at DLR, the things that have made the thread really special (and really popular!!) are the beautiful photos provided and shared by everyone. That thread has inspired at least a couple of DLR holiday trips (so we have been told). We like all photos - good, bad, light, dark, day, night, crowd shots, decorations, familiar stuff and out of the way hidden gems, food, merchandise, etc., etc. - as long as it involves the holiday season at DLR, we want to see it! It doesn't even matter if we have 50 other similar pictures in the same thread. New people are tuning in all the time so they may not have seen the Main Street tree in the previous 50 times we posted photos of it!!:rotfl2: We welcome any and all photos!!:cool1::santa:

question, im going in dec, but i saw some one here, say they went last year to the MMCP? when did disney land start having that?

Count us in ~ Thanksgiving Weekend! We'll fly or drive in on the 24th and stay through that Sat. or Sun. I already have the HoJo ent rate for the 24th-27th! I think my mom will be coming with us.

mariezp - Time is flying by for me since we made our reservations last Dec, especially since I need to come up with the funds for this trip and the Panama cruise all at the same time. I'm looking forward to the holiday decorations this year as it's been a while since we've seem them, they're just so magical.

Littleprincess2010, you are very welcome. Always happy to share any info I might have with my fellow Disney travelers!

Hello Sherry! Oh yeah.... that's all you gotta do.... encourage me a little. Now you know what will happen? I'll be digging up photos for days to post on the DLR holiday thread when I should be doing something else. Have you no shame? :lmao: Of course, on the other hand, who am I to disappoint you and let you down? Just think of all the people I could be encouraging and enticing.... including everyone on this thread.... to head to Disneyland during the holiday season. I will try to do my part and head that way first chance I get!

Jade, I haven't run into you around here in quite some! Could be because I have been missing on this side of the board for awhile myself but I'mmmm baaack! Unless something changed when I missed last year at DL I believe you are correct. Pretty sure MMCP is only at WDW. Isn't that right, Sherry?

ACDSNY,nothing like trying to save money for a trip to make time pass by more quickly. I keep telling myself that I need to work on my funds. At the rate I am going I will have procrastinated all the way until November! :scared1: Good thing I am not saving for DL and a cruise! You are absolutely right. The park all decked out for the holidays is simply amazing! Of course after spending the day at the zoo today I am even looking forward to seeing the splendor of Disney's spotless bathrooms!

Good, Marie! Yay! We want to see all the DLR holiday photos! Doesn't matter what they are or if they are great or not great - we want to see them all in our Disney at Christmas thread.

And yes, you're correct - no Christmas Party (MVMCP) at DLR yet. I think that eventually DLR will get its own Christmas Party, but not sure when. This year, they are trying out the Trick or Treat Party in DL rather than DCA, so maybe if that goes off without a hitch, a Christmas party won't be too far behind.
