November 2009 Code Watch

Thinking about going the second week of November - 7 - 14 but just recently heard that is Jersey Week and that is one of the busiest weeks at WDW. Can anyone confirm that? Our date is not set in stone so we could move it to the third or fourth week of October. Just not sure what to do. Two other couples will be coming with us and I am the one who does the planning. Would prefer the least crowded week.

The Jersey week fear is overblown. We go often, and we always go one of the first weeks in November. It is not super crowded. Ten years ago it was less crowded, but that's true for many former "off season" dates. WDW has done a better job of focusing on times of year that used to be low attendance. There really isn't an off season anymore. (Although January is uncrowded, and often too cold to be fun.)

The last week in October will still be Food & Wine Festival (up through Nov. 9th), which can be fun, but makes Epcot VERY crowded on weekends. Crazy crowded even.

The 2009 NJEA Convention is November 5th & 6th (Thurs. & Fri.), so Jersey Week would be the first week of November (1st - 8th) ...

Other than 40% off, are there any other pins floating around for November? How recently has someone called and successfully had a CM tell them whether or not they have a pin? Do you think they will extend free dining for Disney Visa holders? If so, by when?
I'm subscribing. Hoping to get a good rate for Thanksgiving week, or I might have prolonged Mickey withdrawal for another year or so.

I received this via e-mail last night, presumably because I ordered the vacation planning DVD. So I suggest ordering the DVD! Unfortunately, when I called, 11/1-11/15 were blackout dates so it didn't work for us:(

We're so excited to hear you're thinking about taking another amazing Walt Disney World® vacation! And since you may have already received your Disney Parks DVD, you're probably pretty excited about it, too. So go ahead and use the included offer and extra information to help you discover it all for yourself.

Since you're interested in coming in November, here's a great offer we picked out for you and your family. It's the best way to open a whole world of Disney dreams and possibilities.

Stay in a standard room at select Disney Value Resorts for just

$105* per night, plus tax!
Available for stays most Sunday-Thursday nights 10/2/09-11/24/09.

* Minimum length-of-stay requirements may apply. Additional per-adult charges apply if more than two adults (18+) per room.

-OR-

If your vacation dates are flexible,
save 20%** off the non-discounted price.
For stays most Sunday-Thursday nights 5/31/09-6/4/09, and for stays most nights 8/23/09-10/3/09, 10/25/09-0/31/09, 11/15/09-11/21/09, 11/29/09-12/5/09 and 12/13/09-12/24/09.

How is the F&WF during the week? It sounds like it might be fun, but not if its packed.

Festive and fun. But you will notice Epcot is more crowded, even during the week, but nothing like the crush on the weekend. Early in the day is not super affected...so if you have a rope drop type plan for Epcot on a F&W day, you should be fine.

I got the same email last night. I too ordered the DVD. I was hoping for more than 20% though! Guess it's better than nothing.

I guess NOV 1-15 are blacked out because of Jersey week? but isn't it 1-8th?

i am hoping i get this, it will help a bit for our Nov 12-20 trip

I received the same email except my discount was 30%. We are going 11/9-11/16 so it doesn't apply to my trip. What I don't understand is why $105 is a discounted rate for a value resort? Is that right?

That would be a discounted rate during peak or high season rates! The prices per night rack rate would be listed if you go to the disney site and price out a trip for dates. It will show you the rack rate per night breakdown!

I checked the rack rate for the dates listed and it is 105.00/nt without a pin. Unfortunately the 30% off discount doesn't apply to my dates anyway. Hoping a better deal comes along for mid november!

Hello, I'm new to these boards.

I live in Australia and we are hoping to stay at WDW (POP Century) from 2-14 November 09.

If someone could answer my questions I'd be very grateful. :goodvibes

1. Is this a busy or quietish time to vist (please say quiet, lol).
2. Will Christmas decorations be up during this time?
3. I've received a planning DVD, although the postmark was an Australian address. Does this mean I am in the system though and may be eligible for some sort of discount?
4. Are there traditionally discounts offered for November? (Preferably the dining plan).
5. If I book with either DWD direct or Dreams Unlimited and a discount becomes available will it be applied to my booking or is it too late then?

Thank you! :)

Well g'day mate!! It's always nice to see an aussie around here!! My family and I lived in Australia for about 18 months- and we loved it there... even though we were out in the middle of nowhere... we still loved the country and especially the people.

Anyway..... I'll try to answer some of your questions for you.

1- It's kind of a combo of both. The first week you've booked is the end of the Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT and also something known as "Jersey Week" (this is the week people from New Jersey supposedly flock down to WDW because their kids are on break from school- not sure about the exact week Jersey week is, it could be the 2nd week in November). Either way, it still won't be so overwhelmingly crowded that it's not worth the trip! WDW is HUGE, and the only time I wouldn't come here was around the major holiday times.

2- Christmas decorations will probably not be up yet. There might be a few here and there, but the majority of the decorations go up the day after Thanksgiving (4th Thursday of November). they just magically appear! It's awesome! If you could somehow move your trip until the weekend after Thanksgiving- that would be an ideal time to come ! NO CROWDS,and Christmas decorations are all up and absolutely beautiful!

3- not sure, but I would venture to say that yes, you are in the system! If you're in the system and a discount code is attached to your name, you can book the room with that discount on your own- you do not need a travel agent to do it for you.

4- I believe I have seen room discounts in November in the past, but not sure about dining.

5- If you booked with DU and asked them to keep an ear/eye out for a discount, they would, and then they'd try to get it applied for you. Best bet is to keep your eyes and ears open on the resort board here and when you hear something give them a call to be sure you're in the loop. They're good, but they have lots of people to take care of and it's always good to look out for yourself!

Hope that helps some. Keep asking questions when you have them. people around here love to help!!!

Thank you, karebear1, for all that info. :)

Unfortunately we can't move the trip but we will be at Disneyland CA from about 18-30 November so hopefully we'll see that set up for Christmas. :santa:

DS will be celebrating his 9th birthday at DL on 27 Nov and I'll be celebrating my *cough cough* birthday at WDW, so we're super excited about that.

I've requested package quotes from Small World Vacations and DU, but I may try calling WDW direct and asking if there's any chance we are in line for any discounts. With the exchange rate the way it is every little bit helps!

Yes, I couldnt use the 40% off for the 27th and 28th. Im did get a AAA discount tho. It was still cheaper for us to be in Disney those 2 days than to pay for airfare leaving on Sunday the 29th. Make sense?

That is the exact reason last year I talked DH into changing our vacation Start date from the 29th to the 27th. Then I got the 40% off code that only applied for 11/29-12/5. So I had to get rid of my AAA discount for the entire trip and just book that section. I still have DH on board though for the first two nights I just have to make a decision about where to stay.

I am thinking from when I used last years rates and airfare that adding the first two nights made the most financial sense only if we stayed room only at a moderate or value. Which is no big deal as we will probably just get DTD out of the way the first two nights. The rest of our vacation is booked at WL which we have been dying to stay at. I am leaning towards POFQ or POR for the first two nights. We've stayed at both before and love the boat to DTD. I need to just call and see what is available and if there is still any AAA discounts out there.

Goin to book the week of 11/15 at ASMusic Family Suites...hoping for a code though for free dining...got a code last year for the same week for free dining so one can hope!

Ap rates for November? Anyone remember from last year? Were there any blackout dates? Looking to start our trip during Thanksgiving week. Any chance that if there are AP rates that that week would be included in it?

Also... we are doing a split stay. Can we book an AP rate for both of our resorts, or will they only let us do it for one?

I have been successful in getting AP rates in November before, but some dates will not be discounted (Thanksgiving can be busy, so might not apply to all the days in your plan -- but this is where split stays can help improve chances of AP applying). You can use AP rate for dates that are offered as AP discount -- so two split stays each can be discounted, but you may need to work around the blackout dates.
